10 Barrel Pray for Snow

10 Barrel Pray for Snow

This delicately balanced Strong Ale starts with dark copper color mixed with slight reddish hues and a light tan head. Big malty aroma with a Munich character give way to a slight caramel & toffee mixed with spicy noble hop aroma, all wrapped together with a medium-bodied mouth feel. German malt flavor profile with slight roasty notes give Pray for Snow a subtle toffee sweetness balanced with spicy hop bitterness and slight alcohol warming. Served appropriately in a classic snifter.

3.2 Kind of over hopped and/or astringent, not a well made beer, some off flavours that shouldn't be around. 10 barrel portland
3.2 On tap at Brighton Music Hall. Poured a darkish amber. Sweet toffee and alcohol notes. Strangely high alcohol taste for some reason. Something seemed off with this one. Drinkable but not overly enjoyable.
4.5 Poured from the tap into a 20 OZ mug at the Taco Mac in Atlanta. The appearance is a dark brown amber color with a medium sized white head. The aroma is heavy malt with some biscuit and caramel thrown in for good measure. The taste is similar to the nose and has a nice sweet malt taste with some noticeable alcohol. An Outstanding beer
3.3 Pours copper and clear with tan-orange head. Aroma is sweet juicy fruit. Flavor is sweet musty toffee candy.
2.4 Draft. Pours deep amber with a beige head. Sweet toffee malts, a little weird bitterness, and cardboard. Not good.
3.8 12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 9/30/2016. Pours slightly hazy dark ruby red/brownish color with a 2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, citrus peel, pepper, and pine; with lighter notes of chocolate, cocoa, raisin, plum, cherry, herbal, floral, grass, and roast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready/light roasted malt and moderate citrus/earthy/pine hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of big caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, citrus peel, pepper, and pine; with lighter notes of chocolate, cocoa, raisin, plum, cherry, herbal, floral, grass, and roast/toasted earthiness. Good amount of pine/citrus rind/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, citrus rind, pepper, pine, light chocolate/cocoa, herbal, floral, grass, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/light roasted malt and moderate citrus/earthy/pine hop flavors; with a nice malt bitterness balance; light lingering hop astringency after the finish, but not overwhelming. Moderate dryness from bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately sticky/resinous, bready/grainy/creamy, and slightly chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is fairly well hidden; a mild warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a very good american strong ale. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/light roasted malt and moderate citrus/earthy/pine hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink, despite the lingering hop astringency. Really aggressive/resinous on bitterness, but still has nice malt balance. A very enjoyable offering.
3.5 This beer is on tap at whole foods in wexford. It is a specially noteworthy for the strong straight bitter note from theNobel hops. Bigger than Jever. Nice dark color as well.
3.9 Taps barely translucent chocolate brown with a nice tan head. Aroma presents cloves, allspice, nutmeg, cinnamon and toasted malt. Flavor adds bread and toffee tones, as well as some hoppy bitterness, for a spice-laden delight of an ale. Firm body offers strong fizz. Pray for snow - then stay home and crack open a bottle.
3.9 Really nice strong. Aroma is the only down fall. Not much to offer there. Color is perfect deep dark red. Taste is roasted malts, slight sweetness and a touch of hops. Mouth is full and covers the tongue. Tap
3.5 For me, this winter has been heavy on American Strong Ales. There’s really nothing to complain about in that regard. Pray for Snow has a coppery brown color. Aroma is definitely more malt-forward with toasted malt and caramel. Toffee, chocolate, and coffee malt flavors with some moderate hop bitterness near the finish. Medium feel in terms of carbonation and viscosity. Balance is rather nice, though a few extra hops wouldn’t hurt.
3.3 Clear dark mahogany color with a large beige head and excellent retention. Great lacing. Strong alcohol-forward taste. 7.0 ABV is obvious. Semi-creamy mouthfeel and decent caramel malt flavor, just too strong.
3.4 December 27, 2016 - on tap at Beer House. Reddish brown pour with some head. Aroma and taste of sweet malt with some hops.
3.7 Tap at the Opryland Hotel. Deep coppery brown with not much head because the way it was poured. Aroma is mocha with hints of hops. Taste is chocolate and coffee biter up front and in the middle, hoppy bitter in the finish.
3.3 Secret Santa bottle. Pours clear chestnut colored with frothy, tan head. Nose is caramel malt heavy nuttiness, toffee. Tastes caramel malty, with notes of walnut hops, mild nutmeg. Well hidden alcohol.
3.4 TAP. Nice amber pour, minimal oily beige head.. Malt forward nose with the herbal qualities a bit softer.. Warm malty beer, biscuit & light caramel body, finishes with with a solid hip bitter bite.. Sourced 10 barrel Portland
3.0 12oz bottle. Poured a brown color with an off white head. Caramel, chocolate, some roast, and some spiciness.
3.0 Shared at the Pole’s bonfire party, thanks David! Malty, burnt toast, plum and raisin notes. Nice roasty grain bitterness, fairly harsh hops, but thankfully not severely bitter. Medium body, strong carbonation, mushy mouthfeel, not-so-harmonious aftertaste. 7% alcohol wasn’t well-concealed, a bit too fusely. Overall, not great.
3.6 Very nice deep copper pour. Aroma is sweet caramel and a little herbal hops. Malts dominate taste profile with some dates, caramel, hint of toffee, and some citrus. Medium creamy mouthfeel with some spice notes on aftertaste.
3.6 This has a winter warmer feel to it. A bit of spice with some malt sweetness, toffee maybe.
3.3 Pint at Dram and Draught Raleigh. Good aroma, sweet. Roasty hoppy. Chocolate, caramel, mild grapefruit. Clean orangy brown color, ok head and lace. Moderate sweet and bitter flavor. Medium body oily creamy mouthfeel sweet bitter finish. Huh. Makes some think of a less exciting Arrogant Bastard i
3.3 Clear copper/dark amber under a thin off tan head. Rich dark plummy malts and biscuity tones fill the nose with a hint of raisin and earthy herbal bitterness. Full biscuity toast and plummy raisin flavor that’s gently herbal and gently bitter with a semisweet candi sugar finish but it’s so biscuity and piney and herbal that it’s all thrown askew. Just kinda okay. Like a "winter" black IPA.
2.7 Draft. They have succeeded in making a pretty nondescript stong beer here. It has everything you’d expect, booze, malt, caramel, slight herbs. Nothing stands out....
3.3 Solid winter concoction. Great maltiness balanced with a good hip kick. There's also a little spiciness that lends to a nice complexity.
2.5 Had on tap at brew pub in Bend. Clear, dark reddish brown. Piney flavor, but aftertaste disappears quickly.
3.6 Pours a half finger of head on a cloudy copper colored body. The aroma is grainy and a little lemon. The taste is malty sweet balanced with a mild bitter finish. Straightforward but good. The texture is soft with moderate carbonation
3.4 Bottle. Blackish beer with a tan head. Light grapefruit aroma. Light grapefruit flavor with light chocolate and light roast. Medium bodied. Light grapefruit lingers with light chocolate and light roast.
3.8 Poured up on tap at AZ Strong Beer Fest 2016 where it exhibits a deep brown to amber colored body that supports a tan head of foam that leaves behind some spotty lacing. The aroma offers up kind of nutty, kind of a roasty malt bit and then kind of a vague slightly pine like hoppiness leading to a spicy black strap molasses note at the end of the draw. The taste delivers malt roastiness, a nutty sensation and then getting into spicy to almost pine like hops. It ends with a lingering dry roasted nuttiness. As it warms the spicy to pine hops and nuttiness grow.
3.7 Bottle poured a hazy brown with a lasting creamy tan head. Aromas of toffes, tobacco, cocoa and sdpice. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of toffee, cocoa and spice with a smooth dry lingering cocoa finish.
2.9 Bottle from City Beer. Brownish with a small head. Sweet with malt, caramel and light fruit. Medium mouthfeel. An ok one although nothing special.
2.6 @ best western americania 16-3-4: rätt enkel med söta toner av malt och socker.
