10 Barrel S1nistør Black Ale (Sinistor / S1nist0r)

10 Barrel S1nistør Black Ale (Sinistor / S1nist0r)

We craft our S1NIST0R BLACK ALE using a special German dehusked black malt that is free of astringency, giving the beer a rich black color without the traditional dark beer characteristics. You will notice subtle hints of chocolate with an easy drinking balance on the back end. In the glass the dark color may look intimidating to some, but don’t let this beer fool you. Our unique combination of malts creates a very light body and smooth finish.

4.0 On tap at Hop City. So tasty, the roasted flavours have a hint of chocolate but not much bitterness, great beer.
3.5 Deep dark brownish under a thin ivory cap. Dark malty aroma with a kiss of coffee and roast. Smooth dark flavor that’s got cocoa and a little brown malt with a biscuity base and a kiss of Java. Like an aggressive schwarzbier (note-I didn’t know this was a schwarz when I was rating it).
3.8 Had on tap at brew pub in Bend. Dark brown, almost black. Soft mocha smell. Light & almost fruity with just about no aftertaste.
3.2 Wonderful, but have to knock points of for being called the Sinistor. I?d expect it to be darker.
3.4 22oz bottle 9/11/16 (Plaid Pantry-Vancouver, WA)-42° in Lager Glass-Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Taste of the same with a bitterness and more chocolate on the back end. This medium bodied brew is darn tasty as I am not a fan of this style.
3.8 Bottle from BevMo! in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is malts, cocoa, raisins, fruited breads. Taste is malty, cocoa, bready. A pretty pleasant and accurate take on a Schwarzbier....maybe a little mild but still good.
3.8 Interesting flavor. Taste characteristics of German style beer. Spicy taste characteristic of German beer.
3.6 Sample at Tap House Grill. The beer is a dark brown color with a medium foamy beige head that recedes gradually to an outer ring. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, chocolate and coffee. Light-bodied with flavors of roasted malt, burnt coffee, chocolate and a bit of earthy hops. The finish is roasty with a malty aftertaste.
3.3 12 ounce bottle to wine glass A: Black/ very dark Brown small brown head, goes away quickly, lacing A: not a lot, roasted grains, nuts T: lightly bitter PMF: lively carbonation lingers in roof of tongue, abrupt finish OA: good black ale, ok to repeat, not to look for Drank: April 20, 2016
3.6 Rating #1653 - #CBC2015 Beer 38 - Day 4 - On Tap at 10 Barrel w/ Ferris. Pours a dark black with a bubbly tan foam that dissipates quickly. Aroma is roast malts, earth, molasses, mild cocoa. Lighter in body, medium carbonation, has a little roasty, chocolate sweetness, and light earthy bitterness, finishes rather clean and smooth.
3.5 Flight pour on tap at the brewpub (Bend, OR). Pours a deeper darker brownish carmelized hue, mellow haziness clears up quickly with some brownish toasty edges that glow brightly. Frothy creamy almost tannish head is a nice enough mellow layer, thicker ringer laces nice enough. Aromas are a bit toasty and carmelized, earth and bitter florals, a jab of citrus and more cocoa and coffee life prevails. Interesting. Initial is medium bodied, a touch lighter really with mellow bitterness, toasty biscuits and cocoa jabs. Earth, subtle coffee and carmelized malts. A bit of cocoa and roast, earth as we smoove out into the middle and backend. Dry, toasty malts are mellow, not sweet, with some darker dry appeal throughout. Mellow enough body, some decent flavors with a real hoppy element. Toasty, a bit of cocoa and carmelized feel rues the day without being sweet or brooding. Solid stuff, pretty pour.
3.5 Pours a deep brownish black on tap with fluffy tan head that leaves moderate lace. Aroma and taste of soft chocolate and roast with a fruity yeast back end. A non dark beer drinkers introduction, nice.
3.2 Tap at the brewpub in Portland. Dark brown pour with a small dense white head. Licorice, hint of molasses, yeasty late. Just okay for me.
2.8 Tap @ brewpub: Thin body with a smooth malty taste accompanied by a little grape in the aftertaste.
3.4 Black pour from draft in Portland. White head. Malty and earthy. Not great but I don’t like the style
3.2 Hmmmm. Confusing, as the label says. But nice in a willy wonka backwards way. Like appearance of a nice stout, good carbonation, nice head. And hits like one too, maybe cuz dark thick-tasting malt flavors. Delicious with ben n Jerry’s phish food. But then weird astringency n turns into more ale yeastiness
3.5 On tap @ 10 Barrel. Dark cola colored beer with khaki foam. Roasty and slightly floral aroma. A bit of dark fruit, some bread, and a hint of licorice. There’s a lot more sweetness on the tongue than I expected. Good roasted malt character along with a lot of bread and dough. Slight earthy and floral hops. Not bad.
3.3 Bottle from Walmart. Very dark in color. Almost black with some ruby outlines. Sweet roasty nose. Some coffee and sugar scents as well. Roasty with some sweetness up front. A little hoppiness. Some coffee and candy sugar. Pretty smooth.
3.7 On tap at the brewery. Pours a dark brown with small beige head. The aroma is roast and chocolate. Medium mouth with light roast, raisin, light dry finish.
3.5 Bomber from grocery store in Roseburg Oregon. Appearance:finger tan head, dark brown color, opaque. Aroma: nutty, chocolate, light roast. Palate: full body, average carbonation, thin texture. Taste: sweet chocolate malt with nuttiness, on into light hoppiness. Overall, very enjoyable beer.
3.3 Draught at the 10 Barrel, Bend, OR. Dark reddish brown colour with a small off-white head. Sweet malt, dark fruits, cherry and mild alcohol in the aroma. Sweet malt and sweet dark fruitiness in the flavour. Thinnish.
5.0 Absolutely the finest beer I have ever tasted. Founded at a small convenience store in Beaverton, OR. You never know where you will find a great beer, but this one is exceptional.
4.5 22 oz bottle. Aroma: malty and roasty, with hints of biscuit, vanilla, and leather. Taste/Palate: thin; starts crisp and sweet; finishes creamy, dry, and slightly astringent.
3.3 Tap, brewery, black pour, tan head, nose is nutty, taste is caramel, rich, coffee, interesting
3.2 Rated on 9-14-2013 at Fort Wayne, IN RateBeer gathering. This bottle beer forms a small tan head that is fully lasting, opaque dark brown body and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is dark malt, roasted and chocolate. The flavor mimics the aroma. The mouthfeel is light carbonation, water and thin. This beer is light-medium bodied. Overall, a quaffable straight-forward beer that is worth trying.
3.1 12oz from the current seasonal mixed 12-pack... Black brew with khaki head, no real lacing or retention.. All about the malts, a bit of sweetness with some light cocoa and dry toast to add complexity.. light spicy hoppiness.. a bit of fruitiness on the end that makes me think of Dr. Pepper. Okay... I’ve had this brew many times and doubt I would buy it again after giving it a proper go-around... Fizzy, with nothing interesting on the body.
3.5 Thanks Diana. This was poured into a pilsener. The appearance was a nice looking dark brown color with a closeness to black about it. A two and a half finger white foamy head dissipated within less than a minute. Clingy rings of white foaminess graces itself around the glass. The smell started off with a slight roasty combined dark fruity (mainly raisins, sweet grapes). The taste was mostly sweet and sticky adding a bit of roast (slightly chocolate and coffee). Lingering roasty to sweet fruity chocolatey aftertaste leading a to gentle semi-dry finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a semi-sessionable aspect about it. The carbonation was fairly mild but I considered that still to be okay. Overall, in my opinion, this was a pretty good schwarzbier, though it started off fruity, the roast did eventually show its presence.
3.2 22 Looks mostly black. Smells roasty dark sweet and like an ale. Not too thick on the palate like a stout might be but nice a lighter.
2.4 At beer night all tasters were not impressed with this beer, especially for 10 barrel. Is it a heifer Busch. Taste was flat and not much going on with pallet.
3.3 From botttle at Uber, Seattle. Coffee and sweet chocolate aroma. Medium body, round and soft mouthfeel. Cola. Alright.
