3.1 Can. Moderately bitter with some pine and light citrus notes. Bready malt backbone.
3.6 Pours a medium golden color with a finger of eggshell foam. Nose is nice cracker malt, floral grass and hints of citrus. Palate follows the nose nicely with nice balance and solid bitterness. Hints of citrus, bitter dandelion and floral grass.
3.7 Draught at the 21:st amendment in San Fransisco. Small beige head. Clear yellow color. Fresh hop aroma. Super fresh hop taste with a small bitterness and a tuch of caramell taste to make a very drinkable beer, perfect thirst quencher. Medium body.
3.8 Canned. Pours a copper orange color with a slightly orange-beige head, and lacing. Really nice color. Aroma is orange, tropical fruit, lots of bold hop flavors. Slight maltiness Really big aroma considering this is a session. Flavor has more of the caramel malt sweetness up front, hop bitterness in the middle and a nice long bitter hop finish. Really nice. This is my favorite session IPA.
2.6 Pours pale, cloudy orange color. White head that fades relatively quickly. Moderate, disconnected lacing. Citrus in the aroma, otherwise faint. Some visible carbonation but not excessive. Thin, but sweet malt initial taste with bitter hops next, and lingering in the aftertaste. The aftertaste is a bit unpleasant and faintly fruity. Not much mouth feel - thin. Not well balanced; the overall impression is thin, watery and hopped. Not very impressive. Even though the brewer calls this a pale ale, with "bitter" in the name, I was expecting better balance, more malt, not watery citrus. Disappointing.
3.3 Aroma: flowers, some tropical fruits. Appearance: slightly hazy brown, small, creamy, beige head. Taste: light to medium bitter. Palate: bitters continue, some malty sweets coming up. Overall: OK IPA, but nothing special. Pint at Big Brew, Morristown.
3.7 Can. Golden-orange color; thick off-white head. Substantial lacing. Strong hop aroma; grapefruit with piney notes. Malt up front with caramel and a touch of honey. Nice balance with bitterness. Grapefruit and pine notes with long, resiny finish.
3.6 Pours orange, somewhat hazy, with a bubbly white head. Earthy aroma with some floral and citrus notes. Clean malt, floral, and citrus flavors. The finish has a nice resinous hop bitterness. Refreshing, easy drinker with a light to medium body and moderate carbonation. Very good pale ale.
2.7 Can. Moderate caramel and grain for the malt, orange and perfume for the hops, light soap for the yeast, with a hint of sulfur and egg. Head is small, frothy/creamy, white with fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is hazy medium amber. Flavor starts lightly to moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is medium, slick with a lively carbonation and a dry finish. Too far out of balance and a few offensive notes sank this Session IPA. I think it got stanky in the can.
3.4 Can. Grapefruit aroma and hop flavor. Pours a golden color though a bit cloudy with a big head. Pretty big hop flavor with a low ibu and abv. There are a lot of these session IPAs out there now and this is a very good one.
3.4 "4.4% on the can...is this a pale ale or a bitter? maybe inbetween. either way, i thought it was good. nice balanced but slightly hop forward aroma, fruity and earthy, nice finish. good food beer. i had been a little turned off by 21A but this was very good for the style."
3.4 12oz can pours mostly clear hazy toasted orange with 2 finger head. Nose is all malt, round orange peel, light hints of piney citrus, biscuit. Taste is malty sweet fruit, some light grapefruit juice and bitter orange slice. Finish is bitter and, you guessed it, malty, sweet fruit, apricot, light citrus. Pretty typical.
3.7 Draft sample at Cincy Beerfest 2014 on Fountain Square. Pours a semi-cloudy golden orange with a big off-white head. Notes of citrus fruits, florals, grass, hay, and crackery and biscuity malts. Faint spice, too. Light-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a clean mouthfeel. This was better than I’d anticipated. Really nice session beer.
3.3 Can. Pours an orange color and slightly hazy. Aroma of caramel sweetness and some citrus hops. Taste of grapefruit, caramel, bread, and floral. Light body, light carb, crisp, bitter with a dry finish. Not bad.
3.5 Can. Nose of biscuity malt, some caramel, sweet orange, tropical fruit. Cloudy dark orange. Crisp tropical and citrus hop flavor with light but meaty malts and a very bitter finish. Crisp and light. Nice.
3.3 Can. Pours hazy carbonated golden with medium fluffy white head. Aroma is bready malt and light floral hops. Taste is earthy and floral upfront with some bready malt. Aftertaste is light herbal and citrusy hops. Palate is somewhat thin. Overall some decent flavors and very sessionable.
3.5 Can. Pours a golden orange colour with an average white head. Aroma is caramel, malt, some hops, citrus. Taste is hoppy, citrus, tropical fruit. Pretty good.
4.2 12 oz can from Gator’s in Pittsburgh. Lots of hppy goodness. A slight creaminess detected on the nose and taste. Pretty smooth going down. Thanks Coleen!
3.5 Can into snifter glass, orangy-golden color with fluffy cream colored head. Aroma of light caramel malt sweetness and citrus hops. Taste adds notes of biscuity malt and floral/fruity hop bitterness. Light body, low carbonation, crisp, dry with some citrus bitterness lingering. Overall a nice session IPA, very drinkable.
3.9 A good bitter, hoppy, beer which I would drink again as a good session beer. Makes up for lack of aroma in the flavour department if you like a slightly dry and bitter taste.
4.0 Poured from a can. Bright gold color with a nice head full of small bubbles that hung around. Sweetness on the aroma with a small amount of citrus. Hit with a smooth bitterness that is balanced. It doesn’t kill your tongue. This trails off into hints of grapefruit at the end. A very nice pale ale.
3.3 Draught at 21st Amendment. Amber color, white head. Bitter taste with citrus, hops, mango, pine and resin. Bitter finish with grapefruit, resin and pine. Very nice session IPA.
3.5 Can, as pictured. I had this one awhile ago. Not bad for the style...light IPA. A little maltier than some of the other beers of the style.
3.7 On tap at Coasters, Elizabeth City, NC. Copper colored pour with a frothy off-white head. Citrus and light caramel aroma. Taste is mildly bitter with pine and wet grass mixed with grapefruit and orange. Bitterness lingers somewhat on the palate. A nicely done session IPA.
3.0 Date on the bottom of the can reads: "Enjoy by 08/05/14." This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance had a hazy burnt orange color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute leaving a whole lot of foamy lacing. Once the head died down, there were some valleys of a head. The smell had some citrus and piney hops but it also carried a light "soapiness" to it, English malts?, could be... The taste was basically the same without the soapy malts going on. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a pretty good sessionability about it. There was a long bittersweet aftertaste and a sticky finish. Overall, not a bad beer. To me, it seemed like an English session IPA, oh boy new style, God I hope I won’t be lynched for saying that.
3.3 12 oz can purchased at TC Craft Beer, Wine, and Spirits in New Hope, Minnesota. Canned 09/25/13. The pour is a hazed orange golden with a two inch foamy white head. The aroma is caramel malt along with a bit of resin floral hop and then some cardboard in the back. The taste is the cracker caramel malt up front, along with faint resin grass floral hop. The palate is light bodied with soft carbonation and a mineral slight cardboard finish. Easy drinking, I am sure it is much brighter fresh.
3.6 Can at 21A in SF. Nose is a moderate citrus with just a touch of toast on a bready malt nose. Pour us slightly hazy copper with a large white head. Taste is a biscuity malt with an orange and tangerine hop flavor. Pretty solid. Would crush.
3.3 very floral dominated nose with light citrus notes. Very filtered, clear dark gold, frothy head and retention. Up front hops hit, then mellows into maltiness. Decent beer. German hop taste in the body.
3.2 Poured from can into tulip glass a hazy amber with dissipating white head. Think lacing. Aroma was carmeled malts and a citrus background. Body was light. Taste was was the same but I got more of the citrus esp near and at the finish. The bitterness gains through the sip and grows in the finish. I enjoyed this one.
3.1 Can. Hazy tan with some gold hues and 1 finger tight white head. Aroma is caramel malt with a sweet earthy hop background. The taste follows suit with a bitter hop finish. Light and sessionable but too thin on the palate. Decent but I wouldn't get this again. There's much better sessions out there.
