21st Amendment Blah Blah Blah IPA

21st Amendment Blah Blah Blah IPA

There are over 3,000 breweries in America today, and IPA is the number one craft beer style. Now we love our IPAs, but it’s downright comical the sheer volume of IPAs out there. There are White IPAs, Black IPAs, Brett IPAs, Oaked IPAs, blah blah blah, English IPAs, west coast IPAs, New England IPAs, blah blah blah, mango-jalapeno IPAs blah blah blah! At the 21A we take our beer very seriously but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. We just want to have fun making great beers, and Blah Blah Blah IPA sure seemed like a good way to do it.

Blah Blah Blah IPA is a maltier, amber-colored take of the traditional IPA. We incorporated some interesting malts including imported Baird Caramel 80, a darker, sweet crystal malt; Belgian biscuit malt to give it a toasty flavor; and German dark Munich malt for body and color. We also hopped this ale a bit differently than we normally do with most of the hops being added at different times very late in the boil for a full hop "jammy" flavor and bright aroma. We then dry-hopped it very agressively using five different hops including a newer experimental varietal to pack in flavors and aromas of pine, citrus, grapefruit and jam. Blah blah blah, just try it.

YEAST: American Ale
MALTS: 2-row base Malt, Baird 70-80 Dark Crystal, Weyermann Munich 2, Weyermann Carafa III, Castle Biscuit
HOPS: Warrior, Centennial, Ahtanum, Amarillo, Mosaic, Citra, Chinook, Simcoe, Equinox

3.6 12 oz can from variety pack. Smells of grapefruit with hints of pine. Color is a mixture of orange and amber. Well balanced, tastes sweet and bitter. Tastes of malt with hints of citrus and pine. Mellow bitter finish.
3.9 12 oz can from Total Wine and More in Short Pump, VA The IPA poured a clear amber color with a white foamy head and much lacing. Impressive appearance! This is a complex ale with pine and citrus aromas abound. The flavors are also complex and intertwined. Grapefruit and pine resin are most evident, mangos and tangerines also are experienced. The smoothness of this IPA is a strong characteristic. The medium body ale has an average carbonation. The combination of different hops helps to make this ale fun to enjoy and experience. At the end of a swallow, you also detect some grapefruit. Well done!! Enjoyed another 12 oz can from Delta- pie in Deltaville. Very good.
3.6 7th September 2018 Beaverfest. Keg. Light haze on this gold beer, small cream colour head. Smooth palate, semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Smooth malts, a little soft and creamy sweet. Good piney hop kickoff. Pithy orange and orange peel. Little tropical fruits. Light semi dry finish. Bitter citrc peel linger. Nice enough.
3.7 on tap @ Party Town / Florence KY (Friday Night Flights) ----- Aroma of malt and light citrus. Clear medium amber burnished with gold, ivory head that is slow to drop to a cover, lots of dots and spots of lace. Taste is sweet malt that adds enough hops on the swallow to keep things well in balance. Solid Imperial IPA.
3.6 Pours an slight hazy amber with a medium white head which lingers......aroma of citrus, pine, tropical fruit, warm bread......taste is mild mouthfeel but nice flavors following aroma of citrus, melon, tangerine rind, tropical fruit, slight bitterness, mostly up from little but citric bitterness on the back end.
4.2 Very interesting IPA. Lighter and tropical in taste but heavier 8%
3.3 12oz can. Very interesting ingredient list. Soapy, foamy, off-white head. Sorta unfiltered orange-copper body. A lot of malt depth, a pretty solid amount of hop depth too. Definitely a little maltier and full of depth than most IPAs. Sort of out of IPA territory as far as malts..sort of American Strong Ale, though it does have a respectable hop balance. OK.
3.7 7Sep2018 Sweet grain and cereal malts, sweet tropical fruits, mango. Hazy gold, small, creamy, white head. Light bitter. More juicy tropical fruits, mango and passion fruit, pine, papaya, soft carbonation, medium bodied. Decent. Keg at BeaverEx18 - Friday session, Canada Water.
3.3 12oz can - the appearance is a slightly cloudy orange/golden color with a med off white head. Aroma is simple but inviting (pine, evergreen and floral hops). Decent IPA with lots of bitter hops and lingering mouth coating hop resin. Quaffable
3.6 Aromas are mainly resinous hops with some biscuit malt and a bit of caramel. Flavors are like nose Bittersweet upfront with a long bitter finish. Good body and carbonation.
3.5 Keg at Beaverex '18, day one, 07/09/18. Lightly hazed golden orange with a decent off white cap. Nose is bitter orange, straw, grass, lemon drizzle, melon. Taste is old skool leaning, caramel, orange pith, melon, grapefruit, grassy, toasted grains. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close spiked with juicy hop bitterness. Ok clean drinking DIPA if a touch basic.
3.9 Clear golden color with a big rocky beige head. Aroma of grass and citrus. Medium bitterness, medium body, very dry, long dry and bitter finish.
3.3 Keg at BeaverFest 2018 Friday... Copper.. Thin tan lacing... Soft sweet caramel toffee fruit nose.. Soft sweet toffee malts.. Light grain
3.5 Tap. Rather clear amber-orange color with white head. Aroma is peach, pineapple, dank, a touch toffee malts. Taste is the same, quite sweet and very dank. Oily mouthfeel with natural carbonation. Ok.
2.6 Keg at beaverfest. Pours clear golden, nose is floral, herbal, musty, taste is similar.
1.4 Had this tap at the #beavertownex18. Really didnt like this beer just wasnt for me
4.0 Can. I LOVE their description because it's so true. Short review: this is good stuff, and I'd love more of it. Clearly carrying a heavy load, but also easy to drink. Rich with flavors, but light on the palate. Interesting, butt-kicking and delicious. (#7191, 9/2018)
2.8 Keg at Beavertown Extravaganza, Printworks Surrey Quays. Clear amber. Nice APA.
3.7 On tap at Beavertown Extravaganza 2018. Clear amber colour lasting beige head. Toast hops on aroma. Big hops. Entertaining pink grapefruit flavour. Light bitterness. Fine.
3.7 35,5cl Can @ Beer Republic, Breda, Netherlands. Hazy amber colour with a medium size white head. Aroma is hops, citrus, pine. Taste is hops, citrus, resin, grass. Medium body, average carbonation.
4.5 I love this beer, very little bitter, almost tatste like a Wheat! Has a very small orange taste all flavors of traditional ipa is there but suttle. Alcohol content is not sacrificed for flavor this is what a good beer should taste like in my opinion.
1.2 On can it says dark so I was expecting a black IPA. What did I get, just another big fat hazy yellow hopped ale that is the biggest insult to the mouth. Aroma of alky laced fresh rubber. Perfectly and terribly on style. What else can be said except the style is not black IPA. One more rude volatile blah blah blah ubiquitous mah-fah.
3.5 355ml can from Beer Republic. No BBE info. Pours golden orange with a smooth head. Aroma of caramely malts, pine, citrus, grass, herbal notes and fruits. Taste is sweetish, caramely malty and herbal hoppy with some pine, resin, grass and hints of cardboard. Finish is sweet, malty and caramely with some resin, hints of pine, grass and bitterness. Doesn't feel super fresh but still okay.
4.1 Can. Very pleasant IPA, typical of the current trend of hoppy American IPAs. Very drinkable, despite relatively high 8.0% ABV. Appropriately bitter finish.
3.3 From my father: pours orange with a white head. Aroma is citrus, pine and resin. Smells either old or old school. Taste is bitter. Medium bodied. Somewhat sweet. OK.
3.9 355ml can [8.0%]. Moderately cloudy, orangey golden colour with average, frothy to creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Citrusy fruity, piney, minimally perfumed, hoppy aroma, notes of grapefruit, lemon, blood orange, lemon zest, marmalade. pale malty basis with hints of caramel and biscuit. Taste is crisp, bitter, citrusy hoppy, notes of orange, grapefruit, blood orange, lemon zest, marmalade, biscuity malty basis, with a touch of caramel and even milk chocolate, chocolate cookies. Well balanced, quite sophisticated - really good.
3.9 Can. Earthy spruce, grapefruit peel, orange, and toffee malt aroma. Slightly hazy golden yellow with giant off-white head. Moderately sweet tangerine, toffee malt, and strong bitter spruce and grapefruit peel flavor. Nice body and balance. A nice DIPA.
3.9 Originally rated using the RateBeer application on my phone. For some reason errors erased my notes and made it a tick. I no longer have the reference notes.
3.2 Twelve ounce can. Solid, not overdone. Not a fruity IPA, pleasant. At 8% it has a pop.
4.0 Very full with a grapefruit-like bitter citrus to it. Not extremely bitter, but that's the basic profile. Hops are nice and well placed with an earthy quality. A very nice finish. Quite good for the style.
