The story starts in 1999 when Shaun O’Sullivan walked into my Seattle pub. He’d heard about my massive pumpkin fest and wanted to get together and brew a pumpkin beer like no other: a Baltic-style Porter brewed with pumpkin, caraway and cinnamon. In a light colored can.

3.1Poured from a can. Dark brown color, small off white head. Medium burnt malt and pumpkin aroma. Medium body with a sweet malt and pumpkin flavor and a mild finish.
3.1Aroma of allspice, pours a dark brown color with a short lasting tan head. Taste of coffee and all spice. Bitter finish with a hint of allspice.
3.6355ml can. Brown pour, this is actually a pretty nice brew, different spiced than normal and a decently brewed porter to go along.
4.0Pour is dark dark brown almost black with a large tan head. Aroma is sweet with coffee and chocolate notes. A rich but not overly sweet beer that is a little like coffee and cinnamon toast.
3.8Shared 12 oz. cans poured to small snifters, displaying a nearly opaque, black/brown hue with mahogany tint on the edge, a frothy layer of brownish tan head foam that gradually reduced to a persistent ring & film, and a wavy band of spray on the glass. The nose was roasted, plum, and horchata scent as cinnamon & nuts, with a slight hint of cedar? Better than medium bodied, with a pleasant creaminess to the mouthfeel accompanied by some decent warmth, the taste also included a roasted and earthy bitterness, and a somewhat dry finish. Pumpkin didn’t seem much of a factor, but the beer on a whole hit the spot!
3.7Black body with a nice big ol’ tan head, nice sheet-like lacing. Dense chocolatey malts, dark fruits, and pumpkin upfront. Mellow pumpkin spices start to come out more as the beer warms, but never gets unwieldy. Medium bodied with smooth carbonation, moderate sweetness, rounded finish.
3.9Pours a medium brown with a foamy brown-tan head. Smells of pumpkin, cinnamon, rye bread, anise. Taste is sweet and moderately bitter - pumpkin, anise, hint of cinnamon, molasses.
3.8From the 12 fl. oz. can. Dark brown to near black pour with long lasting tan head. The aroma is oatmeal, black current, and some licorice. Not your typical Porter. The body is light to medium. Huge oatmeal character in the taste with a mild bitterness to end.
3.5Sample at Buckeye Beer Engine on 10/14/15. Darkest brown pour with a medium tan head. Aroma of dark malts, chocolate, roast and light spice. Malty and chocolatey flavor with some spice before a roasty finish.
3.9Can at home from 4 pack. Pumpkin beers are not really my thing but this one works. Spices are about right and the lagering leads to a nice dryness that is often missing from style. Pumpkin is there but not overpowering- sort of adds a nice mellow depth to the beer. Medium weight to it. Really nice sipper.
3.6On tap 4 oz. sampler at Pizza Paradiso in DuPont Circle, Washington, DC.
Opaque, beak with a creamy tan head and very good lacing.
Aroma of Enzo, chocolate, mild pumpkin spice and molasses.
Taste of sweet chocolate, pumpkin fruit, pie spices, roasted malt and molasses.
Full/medium body and low/medium carbonization.
3.5Purchased at Bottles and Cans in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home on a warm fall evening, this is a good brew for the weather. Appearance is pitch black, thin tan rim. Aroma of pumpkin, cinnamon, chocolate, light sour. Taste is unique, some sips are good, some aren't. Gets better as it warms and there's a bit of hazelnut that comes out, but at times it's like this one went bad.
3.7Poured from can a black with tan head and lace. Light aroma mostly of roasted malts and light chocolate. No pumpkin in aroma and mild spice in background. Taste is roasted malts. The pumpkin and cinnamon make a real nice and understated touch. They come in mostly in the finish. I love the muted taste of it. If you are tired of the pumpkin pie beers than this one is for you. Nicely done in an overdone catagory of beers. Mouthfeel is a little thinner than expected, a low vis oil. Enjoyed.
3.7Tasted from draft. Pours black with tan head. Aroma is a little spicy with some cinnamon. Taste is mild to moderately sweet with some cinnamon, all spice, caramel, and a little pumpkin flavor. Overall a pretty good tasting beer and interesting pumpkin style beer.
4.0at first it seems like an ordinary baltic porter with the rye spice and full mouthfeel. soon the pumpkin invades and the spice that becomes it. it finishes in cocoa and a bit of coffee which makes this interesting. good brew that is smooth with cocoa head. a really good ham sandwich beer.
3.8Can. Brownish-black pour, excellent mocha colored head with excellent retention. Nose is Cinnamon, roasted barley, dark malts. Mouth is medium bodied, nice balance of bitter and sweet, cocoa, pumpkin, yams, spices, caramel. Bit thin but still decent.
4.1can. i’ve heard a lot about eysians assortment of pumpkin beers, but this is great! unfortunately, this is probably also the lamest can art of all time. black with a small brown stable head. bread, cinnamon, dark malts aroma. incredibly smooth and silky palate. a unique flavor that blends something like cinnamon toast, with roasted malt, and sweet potatoes. pretty nice.
4.2Almost fruity. It tastes like a good Porter with maybe a Scotch Ale in the mix.
3.3Can: Dark brown pour with a small beige cap. Light nose of cinnamon and hints of pumpkin hidden in the sweet roasty scent. Spices get a little heavy in the taste; I wish it had more of the sweeter Baltic porter roast. Light pumpkin presence. Overall a decent twist on the BP.
3.8Can.... cant remember where I picked this can up from but it has been sitting in my fridge since oct of 2014. Nice dark color... small head....nothing to brag about but solid looking brewski. Nose is some pumpkin spices... Taste pretty much follows the nose... light spices, pumpkin.....body is light and really easy to drink for a beer that is over 8%. Overall; beer that I enjoyed and recommend
4.0Hmm. "A Baltic-style porter lager brewed with pumpkin and spices." It pours out like it means what it says - black, with a foaming lid. The can label appears to be drawn by a cartoonist whose work I’ve seen before, but I’m not sure where. Funky, humid, floral aroma. The taste is full on chocolaty and smoky, with a warm, chili-like finish. The sugary taste is balanced with some nice bitterness, and there are dashes of pumpkin pie and cinnamon. Very good indeed.
3.4Not too bad. Tastes like a sweet porter with pumpkin spices... Not anything extremely crazy.
3.4tastes like a big old pumpkin muffin, bready and winter spice. Some of the porter roast grains shine through, and a hint of alcohol warmth make this a nice fall/winter quaff. Dark bodied in color, medium weight mouth feel, fairly slick and oily. Small beige head caps this off.
3.7Pours a solid black with a tan head and lacing. It has a nice aroma of cinnamon, pumpkin, and coriander. The flavor is spices up front with a pumpkin and spice backbone and a sweet finish over a medium body.
3.5draft at Blue Monk. blackish colored pour, medium creamy body. chocolate, malted milk balls, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg. decent flavor but not exactly my thing
3.4From tap. Pours black, small tan head. Aroma is mild roasted malty, light yeasty to phenolic. Coffee and slight caramelish. Toffee malty and caramelish. Bitter and roasted dark malty into the finish.
3.8Can shared with a friend. Pours dark black with tan head. Aroma of malts and spices. Taste of coffee, nutmeg, and clove. Not much of a pumpkin flavor at all. Dry finish. Very good.
3.8Can pour, almost opaque black body, head like walnut shells, fades to a skiff. Smells of toast, malt, caramel, cinnamon, raisin. Taste is raisin, sour cherry, pumpkin pie. Palate is rich, smooth, carbonation subdued. Finish is a bit sweet, with spice, but not cloying at all.
3.0Rather disappointing pumpkin porter. Too much pumpkin, not enough other complexity.
