You might not expect a Saison in winter. But the enemy didn’t expect Washington to cross the icy Delaware, either. Expectations be damned, we say. We’re sneaking up on winter with a boatload of bravado and this Belgian-style farmhouse ale. Dry hopped with whole organic cardamom pods, our Saison has an assertive spiciness. In your face, winter.

3.7Can. Pours a hazy golden light orange with a thin white head. Aroma of light fruits, bready malt, spices, apple. Flavor is quite spicy up front, very peppery, cinnamon, cardamom, light fruits, apple, apricot, bready malt. Light, peppery, spicy saison, very tasty.
7/4/8/4/14 (3.7/5)
3.3Spicy character on the nose and palate. Interesting Belgian notes, but I like that they aren't overwhelming. Nice clean finish.
3.9For a saison, this is oddly light in color, and even in taste, it has a tartness to it that’s unexpected. But the spiciness it has is just perfect. The can says it’s brewed with cardamom, and that must be what gives it a nice effect that combines a light and crisp summer beer with a stronger bodied session beer. The combination is nice.
3.5I poured it from the can into a glass. It pours a hazy golden color with a white head. The aroma is lemon and spice. The taste is lemon, clove, yeast, and hops. It’s dry and bitter. It’s very crisp. This was flavorful and refreshing.
2.4Pours a hazy bright yellow with white head. A sour citrus and yeast aroma. A citrus, wheat and yeast taste that suddenly has a grainy and bad malt taste that lingers.
3.1malty, spicy aromas. golden and slightly hazy in color with decent head. taste is medium body with notes of clove/banana, peppery, and plum.
1.9Having previously disliked 21st Amendment’s offerings, I only bought this because:
a) they once made a beer called "Monk’s Blood" that was very tasty
b) my selections at the store were limited
My first sip was from the can, but when I poured into a glass it still tasted extremely metallic and bitter. Once the nasty bitterness faded, I could detect some of the promised cardamom, which hung around my mouth like a team of cheerleaders after their team just got trounced in an ugly way.
If I brewed this at home, I would consider it a failure and in a region that produces many fine Saisons, there is no reason for this overpriced, soulless insult to the style to exist.
In short: blech.
3.412 ounce can thanks to Eric. Pours a clear yellow color with a small white head. A big citrus lemon nose. The flavor is more lemons, soft peppery yeast, light toast. Quite light, solid.
3.4Smells great. Light spice. The body is much less interesting. Just a light tongue tickle but not much here.
3.0Can 12fl.oz. @ Craig’s - Edinburgh.
[ As 21st Amendment Sneak Attack ].
Clear light to medium yellow color with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, wheat, pale malt, citrus, moderate yeasty, spicy, saison yeast, cardemon - coriander - ginger. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration, spicy, ginger - cardemon - coriander alike, saison yeast, sweet malt - sweet yeast, fruity. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20160319]

3.4Poured from the can into a pint glass at the World of Beer in Pooler, GA. I am not a huge fan of Saisons, but I did find this one really lacking in the taste department. I normally love 21st Amendment beers.
3.5Can - average size foamy head, moldy hazy medium straw color, moderate lemon and orange (cardamom) aroma and flavor, wheat like backbone, good size fruity yeasty spice finish, pretty good overall
2.9Pepper, lemon, and some spices on the nose. Pale hazy gold color with a white head. Sweet up front, lemon and citrus blended with pepper and spices....mostly cloves. Sweetness fades quickly, some pilsner like qualities. Bitterness is dry and peppery, but balances sweetness well. Finish is mostly bitter, a bit uneven. O.k.
3.2Poured from the 12oz can into a shaker glass. Pale straw color with a white head. Aroma is wheat and yeast. Flavor is similar with wheat, some yeasty notes, and some spiciness towards the finish. Medium bodied. Decent but the spice note has a bit of an odd flavor.
2.4Light saison smell, taste is similar...little sweet on the front and a bit bitter on the back...one dimentional though...not greatest taste
3.4Tap. Moderate aromas all around with grain and bread for the malt, grass and lemon peel for the hops, musty basement, with faint spice in the background. Head is large, frothy, white with fair lacing and and is mostly diminishing. Color is clear, light amber. Flavor starts faintly sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and lightly to moderately bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery, with a lively carbonation. Smells nice, tastes okay, but still a drinkable Saison.
3.7Lemon and pepper aroma. And taste. Bright yellow pour from draft at bad wolf. Delicious.
3.6From can, nice fruity flavours. Good carbonation, full bodied. Would drink a few!
1.8Poured from a can. Hazy yellow. Thin white head. Yeasty aroma with some lemon zest. Very watery. Tastes a little spicy. Not a very good saison.
3.5Jaune pâle avec un grand col blanc. L’arôme des épices et houblon florale. En bouche c’est très facile à boire, avec des épices sec et d’houblon florale qui met la bière en équilibre sans le rendre trop amer pour le style.
3.7Can at Craigs 2016 alldayer. Pours pale yellow with a thin white head. Aromas of lemon, light bready yeast, spice. Taste is more of the same. Dry, almost champagne-like finish.
3.5can at home .. light golden yellow ... light yellow ... thin white lacing .. soft zezty sherbert lemon ... juicy fruits ... soft zezty lemon fruit ... ligth saly citrus fruits ...
3.0Can at craig’s. Pours pale golden, nose is floral, yeasty, citrus, taste is dry, herbal, spiced.
1.4Pour is a distracting hazy gold with a thin tiny head. Smell is lemons and leather, an odd mix. Throw in some yeasty malty numbness and some barf. Taste is subtle to the point of tasteless. uh, no?
3.6Pours a cloudy/hazy pale yellow golden color with white head. Raw wheat, light spice, and some lemon on the nose; follows onto the palate. Light bodied. Finishes with a slight metallic note offset with the wheat.
3.312oz can 3/17/16 (Jewel Mix A six)-42° in Tulip-Pours hazy yellow with a medium white head. Aroma of spices, yeast, and citrus. Taste of the same with a metallic back end. This light bodied brew is not very good and not sure if it is the beer or the contract brewery.
2.8This isn’t terrible at first but really loses it towards the end. It’s cloudy blond w/ a huge, foamy head. There’s a pleasant slightly earthy/cobwebby yeast character along w/a bit of banana in the nose but it’s got a sort of metallic bitterness that’s hard to ignore. This is slightly on the sweet side w/ a reasonable juicy texture. It would be drinkable but for that metallic not I mentioned. Oh well. Plenty of good saisons out there.
3.4Draft a the bilcos Napa. Clear golden yellow coloured pour with a lasting frothy white head. Aroma is tangy lemon, saison, doughy wheat, white bread, subdued saison yeast. Flavour is composed of white bread, doughy, lemon rind, a little flabby. Palate is semi sweet, crisp, little thin, moderate carbonation, little powdery. . Subdued saison yeast
3.7Single from total wine. Murky yellow color. A little spice. Lots of banana and baked bread. Chewy wheat. Medium bodied. Long semi sweet finish.
3.2Pour is a hazy straw yellow with a small white head. Aroma is pretty much all yeast esters with a decent helping of banana and clove. Flavor is a ok fruit and the yeast esters kind of dissappear in the flavor. Finish does have some spice left on the tongue. The aroma was fine but the flavor left something to be desired. It was a bit watery and the farmhouse flavor only played a minor part.
