3 Fonteinen Kriekenlambik

3 Fonteinen Kriekenlambik

3 Fonteinen (Oude) Kriekenlambik is the result of macerating hand-picked whole sour cherries on young lambic for at least four months, in a proportion of one kilogram of fruit per litre of lambic (and possibly blended with some more young lambic). Fruit intensity ranges from minimum 35% to 50%. Aside some selected bars (e.g. 20th Anniversary of Akkurat in Stockholm, Sweden), this sour cherry lambic is available at given times in the lambik-O-droom.

Mycket gott.
4.3 Bottle: Poured a red color lambic with a nice light red color head with OK retention and light lacing. Aroma of fruity cherry notes with some light funky notes and barnyard notes is quite pleasant. Taste is a good mix of funky barnyard notes with some fruity cherry notes with some residual sugar notes and light oak presence. Body is about average with good carbonation for the style. Super enjoyable lambic and probably a notch better than the Oude kriek.
3.9 Bottle from BierCaB shop in Barcelona. Reddish-purple pour with minimal head. Aroma is very cherry, funk, lacto. Flavor is tart, funky, very big fruit. Pretty flat, but that's what lambics are. Biting feel. Good beer.

4.0 375 ml bottle at home as Oude Kriekenlambik at 5.4% ABV, bottled 24.5.2017. Pours a lightly hazy deep wine red with a quickly disappearing pinkish head. The aroma is full of sour cherries, wood, mild funk, leather, black currant - lovely smell. Medium body with a soft to average carbonation, a light to medium sourness and a light tartness. The flavor starts with sour cherries, red currant, black currant, sour berries and hints of balsamic vinegar followed by more cherries, wood and a tart fruitiness. Finishes dry with more dark cherries, tart and lightly woody and hints of vanilla and tannins. Lovely - starts with a nice sourness, berries and cherries and evolves towards more complexity and a balanced finish where the cherries are more dominant. Really good. 3.9 0.375 l bottle from 'Beyond Beer', bottled in May 2017, cellared for almost a year. Clear, deep ruby with a thin, slightly fluffy, slowly diminishing, pinkish white head. A little sweetish, sourish, fairly fruity and gently funky aroma of sour cherries, raspberries, bitter almond, oak and some horse blanket. Minimally sweet, moderately sour, rather fruity and slightly funky taste of lots of sour cherries, raspberry, oak, some bitter almond and a touch of horse blanket, followed by a short, gently tart, woody-dry and slightly funky finish. Thin to medium body, gently astringent and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Tasty!
