A true Geuze - a blend of 1, 2, and 3 year-old lambic, unfiltered and unpasteurized, and aged in the bottle for at least a year after blending. Refermentation in the bottle gives this Geuze its famous champagne-like spritziness. The lambic that goes into it is brewed only with 60% barley malt, 40% unmalted wheat, aged hops, and water, spontaneously fermented by wild yeasts, and matured in oak casks.

17'/18' 375ml from Appalachian. Somewhat appropriate Mojito glass with the RB chatz room crew.
Cloudy, orange juice, a little swampy with a thin bit of lace.
Sharp, arugula, sweet vinegar, grape must, honey, battery acid, savory acidity.
Vinegar, veggie-d chili, lemon, iced tea, light varnish, good bitters.
Juicy. Yeasty. Strong for what it is. Not too sour compared to what's out there any more.
Good, if less exciting then it once was.
375 mL bottle from Bottle Revolution, Raleigh, NC in tribute to the founder of 3 Fonteinen (RIP Armand). Bottled March 30, 2018 and listed at 6.3% ABV. Dark orange pour with a rocky off-white head. Aroma of lemon zest, leather, damp wood, and sweat. Taste is sour but pleasant with an abundance of lemon, apple cider vinegar, and orange zest. Tartness lingers on the palate. An outstanding example of a Gueuze! (The cage over the cork was very necessary. Within seconds of removing the cage the cork flew off completely unprovoked. Open with caution.)

37,5cl bottle- assemblage n°40 - seizoen 18 19 at local beer shop @Albano Laziale drinking 27/01/2022 Pours a nice clear winey amber with medium white creamy foam on top and not much lacing, visible effervescence. Sour, fruity and grapes aroma. Taste is sour and acetic with nice floral and fruity notes, grapes, apple and vinegar. Sour but really tasty and enjoyable. Really drinkable with slightly prickly carbonation. Medium body, oily texture and medium carbonation. Strong at 7.2% abv.
18/19 Dorata antica, schiuma fine e persistente. Al naso note citriche, di cantina ben amalgamate. Al palato ancora citrica con accenni di frutta a pasta bianca. Corpo medio-leggero, ben carbonata, chiude secca. Piacevole assai.
Bottle from Bert, thanks! Drunk to celebrate the end of 2021, screw that year. Clear gold, small head, funky nose with a hint of rubber. Flavor has stone fruit, hard to describe but tasty.

Bottle 375ml at home. From K-Citymarket Pirkkala. 2019 vintage. Pours hazy golden with white thin dissappearing white head. Flavor is sour and acidic, brett, barnyard, white grapes, lemon, gooseberries, oak. Medium body, low carbonation, tart finish.

Wygląd: Barwa ciemnozłota, mocno opalizująca. Piana biała, niska, średniopęcherzykowa, szybko redukuje się do trwałego pierścienia, nie pozostawia lacingu.
Aromat: Na średnim poziomie estry w postaci mirabelki, śliwki, czereśni i brzoskwini oraz łagodnie dzikie, skórzano-stajenne fenole. Całość uzupełnia średnia pestka wraz z średnioniską jabłkową kwaśnością.
Smak: Dominuje średniowysoka jabłkowa kwaśność podbijana średnią taniczną goryczą i pestką. Na drugim planie średnioniskie estry – czereśnia i mirabelki z akcentami brzoskwini oraz łagodne, stajenno-skórzane fenole. W ustach wytrwane, treściwość średnioniska, aksamitna, gładka, wysycenie średnie, delikatnie ściągające. Wygląd: Barwa złota, zamglona. Piana biała, średniowysoka, głównie drobnopęcherzykowa, po chwili opada do ładnego krążka, pozostawia lacing.
Aromat: Otwarciu towarzyszy siarka z nutami suszonych ziół. Po przelaniu do szkła zbalansowane, złożone. Na średnim poziomie gładkie nuty funku o charakterze stajni, konia, lekkiego siana i skóry wraz z równie krągłą kwaśnością cytrynową na podobnym poziomie. Na drugim planie nadające charakteru fenole pieprzowe z lekkim szafranem i siarką oraz albedo grejpfrutowe na średnioniskim poziomie. Całość uzupełniają subtelne nuty gorzkiej pomarańczy i niedojrzałej czereśni.
Smak: Świeży i rześki za pośrednictwem kwaśno – gorzkiego balansu. Na średnim poziomie gładka cytrynowo – kefirowo kwaśność przeplatającej się z gorzkim albedo grejpfrutowym, niedojrzałymi czereśniami oraz taninami. W tle niskie pieprzowo – szafranowe fenole wsparte akcentem siarki oraz dzikich nut stajni, konia i skóry. Oransje farge, nada skum. Aroma av eple, balsamico. Smaker fruktig, lime, gjær og gress.
375ml bottle [bottled 23/01/2015]. Opalescent, amber colour with average, thick, firm, frothy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Slightly tangy, woody and fruity aroma, hints of oak, blue grapes, a touch of balsamico. Taste is tart, tangy, slightly fruity, minimally woody, notes of old lemon peel, some lime, hints of grapes, oak, a touch of vinegar.
Watery texture, smooth and soft, minimally astringent palate, medium, foamy, mildly prickly carbonation.
Light, refreshing, rather drinkable - nice.

Asssemblage II, sz. 18/19, bottled 7/12/18. Hazy orange, stable, frothhy, off-white head. Aroma of dusty attic & damp cellar, rhubarb, musty horseblanket, wet grass, oak, old apricot, white grape, cheese. Taste has sour grape, plum & gooseberry in a funky yeast & cheesy profile with oak, horseblanket and lemony edges. Grassy hoppy finish, wet wood, slight vinegar, funky leather and lemon acid, very soft alcohol glow. Medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. Masterpiece!

Clear orange, thinning, white head. Aroma of ripe orange, apricot, oak, sherry, wet hay, barnyard, leather. Taste has sweetish-sour orange & plum, quite estery over funky straw & hay, bitter leather note too. 'Old' grassy hoppy finish, lingering tart, slightly bitter orange peel, funky with a dry and oaky sherry accent. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Still amazingly fruity, yet funky and tart of course. No score change.

Gold pour, patchy thin head. Nose shows some funky yeast, a little leather. Middle is yeasty and tart, grassy, brown leather, citrus, medium kilned malt, touch mineral, some stone fruit, oak. Finish is pixie stick tartness. Sour but still approachable.
Bottle at Porter and Sons, Tel Aviv. Hazy bright amber with a thin white head. Aroma of melon, funk, some piss, a bit salty. Very funky, a bit of rotten fruit, layer of sweetness in the mouth. Full bodied and fizzy with a long, funky finish.

W zapachu trochę białe wino, trochę kwasowości, dosyć wyraźne nuty funky, może jakieś nuty agrestowo-brzoskwiniowe.
Fajne nasycone, wytrawne ale nie puste.
W smaku sporo kwasowości, cytrusy, agrest, bardzo przyjemne nuty funky, delikatna taniczność. Bardzo orzeźwiające, sporo różnych warstw smakowych, pyszka.
Pours clear dark yellow with a small fizz. Aroma is white wine, light yeast and small floral notes. Taste is low acidity, white grape must, slight sour finish. This had a big buildup for me and sort of fell flat.
Appearance: light amber colour, clear, quite lot of yeast deposit on the bottom of the flask, no froath, well carbonised
Flavour: white wine, wood cask, wild yeast - broad spectrum of flavours, very, very reach, goat cheese, sweat, stabbles, etc.,
Taste: sour, a little bitterness, wild yeast
Color dorado-naranja turbio con espuma fina blanca de poca retención y residuo. Aroma a sidra, fruta blanca madura, barrica y almacén con notas a vinagre y manzana verde. Sabor a barrica, fruta blanca, fruta madura, sidra y manzana ácida con notas a cítricos, malta clara, levadura y almacén. Dulzor ligero, alcohol medio-ligero, acidez y amargor medio-altos con regusto medio. Textura acuosa, cuerpo medio y carbonatación ligera. Una Gueuze compleja que mezcla los sabores afrutados frescos y muy maduros o fermentados, junto con la barrica, la levadura y el cereal. Genial. Mezcla nº51, temporada 18/19.
375ml bottle, saison 2018/2019. White balsamic vinegar, oak barrel, brett, grapefruit zest, basement notes, unripe green apples. Acidic sourness. Full bodied, oily texture, lively carbonated, dry acidic sour finish. Good.
Pours a slightly hazy burnt orange with a cream colored huge mousse-like head that disparate to a well formed ring with some lacing. Barnyard funk, lemon, light oak. Tart with medium- light body with a balanced vinegar finish. Really nice beer.
En copa, cerveza ámbar con una fina capa de espuma blanca y burbuja que recuerda a un cava. Aroma ácido a humedad y barrica, alguna fruta excesivamente madura, cereal blanco, sótano cerrado y una nota cítrica. En boca, textura ligera y acuosa, de carbonatación alta, acidez marcada y amargor suave. Sabor ácido y astringente, encontrando cereal blanco, cítricos verdes muy ácidos, barrica y humedad. Una Oude Geuze brutalísima, realmente espectacular. De lo mejorcito de este estilo. Mezcla n°10, temporada 18/19.
Botella, en casa. Mezcla 2017/2018. Bonito color anaranjado con cierta turbidez, tupida capa de espuma color blanco y burbuja muy heterogénea parecida a la del champán. En nariz huele a envejecido, ácido, se nota el aroma a barrica. En boca es muy carbónica, intenso sabor a taninos, ácido láctico, madera, con mucho poso en boca. Retrogusto láctico intenso. Muy rica.

Bottle from the brewery. Bought in August 2017, bottled February 2016. Therefore almost 5 years aged. Aroma is that fantastic oude geuze aroma you would expect. Also some melon, hop, stickyvomclubfloor. Much darker than I rememeber other geuze being like the cuvee armand so lost a bit there as I expected gold. Lovely taste with some pear featuring and a classic dry champagne like finish with some hits of booze but overall easy going. A class act that is always special. (23/12/20)
