3 Monts Bière de Flandre

The 3MONTS beer : A wonderful return to nature, with its flavour of yesteryear, this is a beer that was drawn from the wooden metal-circled barrels to fill so many mugs in our Flanders bars! Its bitterness comes from our hop fields scattered throughout the region.

Brewed by infusions, it is an old-fashioned rising beer made with strong and hearty Flemish hops. Fermented using top yeasts, like the barrel brewers of yore and clamped like bonderised barrels.

2.9 Bière 75 cl bue à un barbecue. Robe dorée. Bouche un peu alcooleuse, maltée, un classique sans être exceptionnel. (M)

3.9 Аромат хороший, немного схожий на блонд. Запах хмеля приятный, ненмого сухости от травянистости, но без горячи, сильные газы сразу, немного шампанским отдает от солода и дрожжей, как будто пшеница. Цвет обычный, золотой, пенка белая и пышная. Вкус тоже ровный. Сухости немного от солода, хмель травянистый, но снова без горячи, легкая сладость при глотке. Сухость сильная как и газы. Отдает хлебцом немного от дрожжей. В целом понравился, хоть и питко и не хватает глубины.

2.6 Bottle at on-line tasting. Amber color with white head. Heavily oxidized beer with dried fruits, candies, paperry, caramel. Alcohol is evident.

2.7 Bottle via Beermalade online tasting. Quite heavy oxidation, dried fruits. Feels stale, slightly metallic too. Light booziness joins the show too. Feels like a cheap supermarket high-ABV beer. Average at best.

3.4 Bottled. A clear orange beer with a mediem sized white head. Aroma is malty and yeasty. Tasty is malty, caramel and citrusy. Average carbonation

3.0 Old note, for counting purpose : Bottle of 33cl, in a Trappist glass; from the fridge. A blond beer, not long aftertaste.

3.5 Old rating from 2013 - 750ml bottle, pours golden with a white foamy head. Aromas & tastes of black pepper, flora, grass, white grape, pear, bread, crackers, earth & malt. Medium body. Sweet slightly bitter finish with hints of alcohol.

3.2 Słodowe, niska goryczka, piana niska. Biszkopty, skórka od chleba, fajny posmak zbożowy. Rozgrzewające.

3.5 Bière de garde de 8,5 % abv, faisant partie des " saveurs en Nord ", et dédiée bien évidemment aux célèbres Monts des Flandres. Brassage par infusions et houblonnage en purs houblons des Flandres. J'ai déjà bu cette bière souvent, spécialement chez un restaurateur nordiste qui ne jurait que par elle, et lui faire honneur lui arrachait un sourire à ce point fantastique qu'on aurait commandé la bière rien que pour ça ! Mon exemplaire, en 75 cl bouchonné de liège, était à 5 ans et 10 mois après sa date … ( Là, notre restaurateur en serait tombé sur le cul !! ) Couleur doré moyen, à la très belle brillance. Bulles fines, partout, à montée lente, réfléchie. Mousse blanc cassé, soyeuse, stable à 3 mm. Arômes de compote de pommes, blé, pointe de figue blanche. 1ère bouche très souple, aux belles saveurs fruitées de pomme, poire. Arrière-bouche longue, à l'amertume délicate et parfumée 2ème bouche avec un ch'ti côté genièvre, qui va si bien au Nord. Arrière-bouche moins longue que la 1ère, mais toujours fruitée Longueur qui marie les moments fruités et les pointes d'amertume fleurie, avec quelques moments plus " écrasés ", en compote avec cannelle Jambes fines, serrées, assez courtes et collantes sur la hauteur. Levure correcte Alcool bien dosé, il vient soutenir la longueur du mieux qu'il peut Finale qui reste agréable, plus épicée. CONCLUSION : j'ai toujours aimé cette bière, et le dire à mon restaurateur, c'était risquer un discours qui pouvait durer de longues minutes !! On ne peut certes crier au miracle sur les 3 Monts, mais il y a de la vraie idée dans cette bière .. comme aurait pu dire Marguerite Yourcenar. 3.3 Bottle from a French supermarket - thanks Anke! Clear golden with a big, frothy, white head; lots of lacing. Aroma of ripe banana, apricot, apple sauce, honey, white bread, clove. Taste has very sweet banana, apricot & honey over a white bread & honey malty base, bit spicy bitter. Yeasty finish, tad peppery but not overly hoppy in that sense, more ripe fruit & some boozy jenever-like alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation. Enjoyable enough, almost feels like a Tripel.

2.4 A bit too hoppy for the style, not enough balance, not much in the way of yeast or malt, disappointing (11.2 oz bottle, Silpo, Kyiv)

3.5 Bottle. Color: Clear golden, white head. Aroma: Malt. Taste: Sweetish, very malty, combined with nice moderate hopbitterness. Over moderate sweet. Spicy yeast notes. Lightly boozy. Light fruity hints of yellow fruit. Quite smooth mouthfeel. Somewhat more hopbitterness at finish. Seems quite simple at first, but takes some time and attention to explore the full complexity of this North France beer style.

3.1 Bottle 33 cl. Golden color, clear, gushing, white foam. Aroma: malt, grain and light malt, a little esters, pears, a little alcohol. Taste: strong, alcoholic, pear, apple seeds, light malt, light fruity, a little cookie, light hop bitterness.

3.3 750ml bottle from the Offie, Leicester. Mid- to dark gold with a tight white head. Hay and light honey on the aroma. Taste ia bittersweet and slightly astringent with chally and spicy yeast notes and an incredibly dry finish. Medium to heavy carbonation. Obviously smartly put together but quite plain.

3.2 A good biere de garde. Nice spicey yeast flavors. Crisp refreshing. Would drink again.

3.4 Characteristically Belgian with a smooth mouthfeel, lots of esters and a hint of hoppy bitterness. A nice beer, worth a try.
