4.1 Draft from the brewery. black poor, no head. Chewy chocolate mouthfeel.. reminds me of Busted Knuckle from Quaf On!
3.9 Update: 12floz can, BBD: 03.09.2018, $1.75 unit cost, pint glass. Rating the same, additional notes: chalky and creamy, not oily, and I may be getting more of a coffee presence during this experience, somewhat cloying finish. 12floz can, BBD: 01.18.2017, bought as part of a mix-six for $10 (I've had prior from bottle and draft), pint glass. Appears opaque, near black in color with a one finger head that settles to thin layer. Cocoa aroma segues to semi-sweet chocolate and coffee palate that treads the line between oily and creamy. A quality medium-bodied chocolate stout fitting for dessert or otherwise.
3.7 Can shared at Craft Beer Cellar Clayton. Pours a deep brown to black with a small finger of beige foam that dissipates quickly. Big milk forward nose with cacao and Hershey's syrup. Body a touch light. More cacao and milk notes in the palate. Pretty solid, but leaves me wanting a bit more body. Still, 4 Hands nailed the flavors and aroma.
4.1 Rating #2552 - 2016.05.05 - Bottle at Bainbridge in Philly. Beautiful dark brown pour with a fairly weak tan head with mild lacing. Aroma is chocolate, cocoa powder. Palate is sweet cocoa, rich dark chocolate bitterness. Yoohoo.
3.6 Solid milk stout! Pours black w/ a thin tan head & little lacing. The aroma is a delightful mix of chocolate w/ a hint of roasted notes. The taste is a decent balance between sweetness & roastineas. Not quite as sweet as most milks but easily drinkable tho a touch thin. Chocolate w/ a kick! Lovely.
3.5 12oz Can. Aroma is very sweet of chocolate and roasted malts. Taste is very creamy and sweet with lots of milk chocolate and nuts. Similar to chocolate milk. Overall very tasty, the sweetness is not overwhelming.
3.6 12 ounce can. Opaque brown color. Small tan head. Rich roasted malt nose is full of cocoa notes. Flavor is sweet dark malt and milk chocolate. Light in body, but with a creamy mouthfeel. Tastes like chocolate milk. Some dark roast malt in finish. Overall, a tasty milk stout that is smooth and easy drinking.
3.5 Poured from a can- opaque black with a 1 1/2 finger tan head. Aroma of cocoa mixed with a bit of a burnt/roasted malt note. Medium body with a touch of oil. Long finish. Flavor of cocoa with notes of coffee and char.
3.7 appearance: very dark brown, caramel-colored edging, a creamy light tan head. aroma: chocolate of course, but also some toasted nuts and vanilla; smells like a candy bar. taste: milk chocolate, some bittersweet dark chocolate too (bonus!), light caramel, almond skin, lactic sweetness. finish: lingering sweet chocolate and lacto twang, hint of roast. notes: Juuuuust fine. Would drink again. Can from Quench in Silver Spring, Maryland.
3.6 Dark brown pour, are ma of cocoa and a bit roasty. Taste is dry with just a hint of lactic sweetness. Cocoa bitter dry finish. Nice.
1.8 Poured a medium brown. Aroma was sour milk and chocolate piwder. Pretty sure this is infected. Not good
4.0 22 oz bottle poured. Much thanks to Greg for the bottle! Always dig a 4 Hands chocolate offering. A dark and dense brown pour with a tan, cola fizz head. Milk chocolate aroma. Incredible. Candy bar milk chocolate, nutty flavor. A sweet covered toasted malt. Well put together, and well executed for what was at task. A great beer to pair with a early day home brewing. Tasty!
3.6 Bottle at home in NH. Pours black-brown with a creamy, tan head. The nose holds moderate roast, cocoa, earth. Light to medium sweet flavour with ashy roast, bitter dark chocolate, dry tobacco, leather. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with nicely rounded, hard-edged cocoa character, woody dryness, more ash and tobacco. Good stuff overall.
2.7 Keg at the brewery, 12/17/16. Dark brown, large creamy off-white head, good retention. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malts, nuts. The taste is roasted malts, nuts, lactose. Thin. 200th sweet stout rating.
3.6 22oz bottle 12/20/16 (Part of Chocolate Milk Stout Variety Pack-Binny’s Montgomery)-40° in 4 Hands Mason Jar Pours black with a big tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, and roasted malt. Taste of chocolate and sugar. This medium bodied brew is well balanced and downright tasty.
3.7 Tap; pours nearly black with a beige head; aroma of chocolate, roast malt, and lactose; taste is sweet with chocolate, lactose, and roasted malt; finish is chocolatey and slightly bitter
3.3 Thanks altonbrownd for the bottle! Poured into a snifter showing a very light translucent coffee brown with half a finger of quickly dissipating latte colored foam. The nose shows a lot of milk chocolate notes. The palate is light bodied and moderately carbonated. Hints of very dry milk chocolate mostly found in the background but the hops tend to take a more forward role here. Resurgence of milk chocolate on the finish. Could actually use a bit more chocolate but captures the mouthfeel of a milk stout style.
3.0 At warehouse on Fullerton w/Fredric. Good at first then it is like that death by chocolate brownie that gets too rich by the end. Serving: Tap
3.4 12oz can. Medium tan head atop cola black body. Aroma is moderately sweet, milk chocolate, light chocolate liqueur, caramel. Taste is moderately sweet, milk chocolate, some caramel, light earthy in the swallow. Light-medium body, light stickiness.
4.0 Backlog, ocena przepisana z untappd, w ramach uzupełniania profilu na ratebeer.
3.6 Bottle. Pours black with a nice 2 finger tan head. Huge chocolate aroma with coffee and a touch of vanilla. Flavor of milk chocolate, roasted malts, cocoa nibs and faint vanilla.
4.7 Dark brown to black, tan head, head is a bit thin for a stout. Aroma is chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate, no noticeable hop aroma. Slightly thin palate for a stout. Taste is predominantly chocolate with hints of vanilla, caramel and cream on the finish. Bittering hops noticeable but balanced, flavor is reminiscent of good dark chocolate in a liquid form.
4.0 6-5-16, In draft at Pi pizzeria in DC. Excellent milk stout (although for the abv and mouthfeel is more like a porter to me). Pure milk chocolate on the nose and taste. Mouthfeel is thin-medium with a clean finish. Perfect lighter desert beer to end the evening with. Lower abv but still brings the flavor. Nice job 4 hands.
3.6 12oz can from Greg, cheers mate. Poured into a large Leffe chalice on 10th May 2016. Looks good, deep, dark brown with a tan coloured head. Intense chocolate aroma and taste, went fantastic with a few Snappers Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Pretzels.
3.6 Can from Beers and Cheers. Nose is malty, chocolate, spices. Taste is chocolate, malts, lactose. Creamy texture. Thin texture. Sweet in the finish.
3.6 Can. Pours brown with a thin light tan head. Aroma of chocolate malt, tootsie rolls, roasted malt. Flavor of chocolate malt, more tootsie rolls, charred and roasted malt. Not a lot of milk here, but plenty of chocolate and easy drinking. 7/4/7/4/14 (3.6/5)
3.7 Lifeless black appearance, with some head. Smell is of chocolate and milk. Smooth, a hint of bitter.. very strong of chocolate. It’s very good, wish it was stronger.
3.7 12oz can from Trenton Rd Takeout. Pours a blackish-brown color with a finger of foamy tan head. Aroma of is full of milk chocolate, and some coffee and vanilla notes. Probably the closest beer i’ve had to smelling like actual chocolate milk. Taste of day old coffee, sweet milk chocolate, newspaper, and some burnt ashy malt in the finish. Decent, but aroma is the winner here!
3.4 On tap at Howells & Hood, Chicago. Almost black with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate, some roasted malt, cocoa and hints of earth. Similar taste. The body was medium and the finish medium bitter.
