4 Hands Divided Sky Rye IPA

4 Hands Divided Sky Rye IPA

This beer brings together two of our favorite ingredients: Hops and Rye - serious hops up front provide a pungent, floral, and citrus character. We use Centennial, Columbus, and Cascades in this hop lovers dream. The rye provides a slightly spicy flavor and a full mouth-feel. Divided Sky pours straw in color with notes of tangerine, grapefruit, and pine. Drink fresh!

3.3 Taste: crisp, rye grain, bright hops with a smooth finish. Fresh floral hop nose. Gold, mostly clear, white foam head, with broken lace. Medium/full body. Balanced.
3.7 12oz can. Assumably another rating in the backlog but here we go again. Ever so slightly hazy golden-tan body. Foamy, glass lacing white head. Pretty solid rye-IPA. Clean, well brewed. Smooth, rich malts. Great balance. Good stuff.
3.6 Pours a golden-orange with sudsy, lacing white head. Floral hop aroma. Floral hop taste with a rye bite. Notes: can, Mar ‘18
3.2 12floz can, BBD: 12.06.2017, $1.75 unit cost, pint glass. This IPA opens with vibrant orange, grapefruit, and some pine needle aromas (just as described). The body is golden in color of clear visibility. Head is white and leaves layered marks behind. The palate is a fullish medium with sharp bitterness. Decent enough for a hop dominant IPA, but not balanced enough for me to be anything more than mid range for the style. Pine, black table pepper, and citrus noted as flavors.
3.2 Hazed peachy gold. Breadyish yeasty, possibly old.little sweet caramels.very slight hop floral fruit. Grainy breadyish taste, some pine and citrus orange. Ok, like a pale ale.past it’s bbd.as is.
3.7 Orange red body with an average white head. Aromas of citrus, pine, rye malts. Very easy drinking and good.
3.5 Can. Pours a clear copper color with a frothy head and some lacing. Aroma of pine, citrus, grain and bit earthy. Taste of pine, lemon, mild malt sweetness and bit of grain. Nice bitterness and a clean finish. Medium body, crisp and refreshing. Quite tasty.
3.6 12 oz. can poured to a Czech-pils glass showing a clear, orangey/gold hue, with a presentable & fairly lasting layer of off white/cream colored froth, and spiraling, foamy lacing. The nose was nicely expressive floral & spice notes, slight resin, citrus as grapefruit, lemon, & orange, bready malt, and light caramel sweetness. Light to medium bodied, with good carbonation, the taste mimicked the aroma notes fairly well, added a mellowed but noticeable citrus & rind-like bitterness that lingered, with light tartness & tanginess, and slight dryness to the finish. Pleasingly palatable.
4.2 This awesome rye IPA pours straw in color with notes of tangerine and other citrus and a touch of pine.. This beer brings together two of my favorite ingredients: Hops and Rye. The hops have a nice floral, and citrus character. The use Centennial, Columbus, and Cascades along with rye provides a slightly spicy flavor and a full mouth-feel.
3.5 Draft. Golden body with a frothy white head. Aroma of citrus, pine, lemon, toasted grain, biscuit. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Citrus, lemon, pine and bitter grapefruit in the finish. A bit on the sweet side, but that was OK. Enough depth and then a bitter ending.
3.7 Can pour into nonic pint glass. Appearance is hazy light brown/dark yellow with finger-width off-white foamy head with nice sparkle. Aroma is dominant grapefruit and rye, with some earthy hops. Taste is grapefruit, dank resin, malt backbone, spicy rye. Palate is medium bodied with thick texture, soft-to-average carbonation with bitter grapefruit, resin, mild rye finish. Overall, a nice rye IPA that could have benefitted from some tropical fruitiness for added balance, but still good.
3.6 12oz can 10/22/16 (Binny’s-Plainfield Pick Six)-46° in shaker-Pours a murky golden with a white head. Aroma of hops and citrus. Taste of the same with some rye coming in. This medium bodied brew is darn tasty.
3.2 Light amber color with a diminished off-white head. Aromas of sweet malt, light molasses, floral hops, and citrus. Fairly thin. Pale malt, mild citrus, paper and a touch of spicy rye. Simple and unassuming with a hop and rye bite. 1/15
3.5 Can. Thanks Miro & others. Misty golden body with a lasting white head. Sweet aroma, rye & caramel. Ok, slightly heavy. Nutty rye sweet malty taste, ok enough. Not much hoppiness really, strange. But a good beer nonetheless.
2.5 This one tastes a bit off to me. I like the flavor of rye in a beer, but this one contains way too much with a creamy taste to balance it out that seems out of place. I don't get the high ratings for this one, but it is very popular especially in STL so maybe it's just me.
3.2 Six pack of cans from Gomer’s in KCMO. Pours out a light greenish golden color. Frothy white head. Aroma is earthy spice and pungent as advertised. Flavor is also musty. Lots of earth and not so much citrus and pine. I typically love rye beers, but this one doesn’t measure up for me.
3.3 Golden yellow color with citrus and pine aromas. Taste is quite hippy with some tangerine. Bitter finish. Would have liked a little more rye in this one
3.9 Sent to me by Strykzone. Pours a dark, hazy, tgold with a white head. Nose is caramel malts and floral/citrus hops. Medium to full body and a resinous mouth feel. Favor is citrus and the finish is long, dry, and bitter. Really good.
3.4 Pint on tap. Clear amber gold pour with thin white head. Aroma is spicy, nice peppery rye, citrusy hop, grapefruit zest, piney. Taste is bitter, spicy, dry finish. Palate is med bodied with prickly carbonation. Good.
3.8 Clear gold out of the can with a foamy white head. Big floral citrus hop nose. Lots of hop flavors with red grapefruit, tangerine, bitter orange and pine, with a firm rye spicy note in the finish. I do like rye in a hoppy beer.
3.9 12oz can, courtesy of gregwilsonstl, pours with a crystal clear gold body that supports a thin off white head. The aroma offers up floral hops, spicy hops, grassy herbal sort of hops, a bit of citrus and pineapple and some mild malt notes in the background. The taste delivers plenty of bitter to near resiny hops that begin largely floral in nature. Behind the floral pulse are grapefruit, floral hop like candy, some resiny grassiness and a dash of grapefruit pith. This is a bit too floral for my taste but still a nice IPA.
3.4 Golden pour with thin white head. Aroma. Citrus aroma with pine. Taste of bread, lemon, and pine. Slightly bitter after taste.
3.7 Can from gregwilsonstl, thanks for the opportunity! Crystal clear light golden color, with a decent sized bubbly white head. Sweet caramel maltiness with some citrus and pine to counter. Light spicy earthy tones. Nice drinker, a bit on the sweeter side but quite flavorful.
3.0 An aroma of hops citrus and fruit, pours a clear gold color without much of a head. Slightly sweet taste of fruit with hints of citrus and hops. Lighter body with a mildly bitter finish.
3.8 Can 35,5cl / Lata 35,5cl. @ The Foodery Center City, Philadelphia, PA, USA A: Amber / Ambar. T/S: Hops, resinous, rye / Lupulo, resinoso, centeno.
3.7 Can at home from new friend gregg from the STL. Clear orange pour small head. Nose is floral amd biscuits. Tastes of biscuits, florals, tangerines, pineapple, only hints of rye pepperiness. Clean palate. Decent.
3.3 12oz can from TRT. Poured a little thin looking clear copper body with a smaller fluffy white head. Aroma of citrus, dough, spice, light caramel and molasses, rotting fruits. Body has some fizzy full carbonation over a big body with a slick chewy mouthfeel. Flavor is grainy crusts, citrus, spice, tangerine and apricot.
3.5 Poured from a can, weak carbonation, slight citrus aroma with hoppyness. Slight citrus or malt on tongue with pretzel/hop bitterness in the finish---semi-dry. Refreshing brew but not outstanding; a good buy but not a great beer.
3.4 On tap at Molly’s in Soulard. Pours a clear pale gold/yellow with a really decent small bead white head. Aroma is like your hand after carrying in the Christmas Tree. Taste is also quite piney and citrusy, but not very bitter at all. Sweet pale malts enter in as well as a breadiness. Very good, quaff able IPA.
3.6 12oz can from Binny’s in Highland Park. Yellowish golden pour with a white head. Aroma has hops, tangy pine, some grain. Sweet malts later in the glass. Taste is of citrusy hops, oranges, pine, stone fruits, some caramel and perhaps light grain. Very dry. Finishes well mixed between bitter and sweet. Amazing that 4 Hands stuff can be that pale, yet so full bodied. 14.3
