A. Le Coq Imperial Ale

A. Le Coq Imperial Ale

A. Le Coq & Co was established in 1807 in London. Production was transferred from London to Estonia (Tartu) at the beginning of the 20th century and it is still produced there today. In 1912. A. Le Coq was chosen as the official supplier of the Russian emperor’s court, and Imperial Extra Double Stout, which was brewed in Tartu, became available throughout the empire. We have launched A. Le Coq Imperial again to show respect for our old traditions. The Imperial range is for beer lovers with exquisite taste.

Imperial Ale is a top-fermented beer with a rich flavour bouquet. There is a perfect balance between the delicious bitter taste of hops and the sweetness of malt. The copper colour that characterises the best ales adds a respectability referring to its imperial past.

2.0 Borostyán szín. Az íze furcsa, az utóíze rossz. Ez egy rossz sör. Nem ajánlott.
1.8 Pours amber with light white head. Aroma is malts, cat piss, cheese, cardboard, soy sauce. Taste is quite same - salty, cheesy, watery, some malt and grain notes. Not for me.
2.4 Bottle. Light red, copper color with medium white head. Aroma of sweet candy, cardboard and grains. In flavor lemon, metal and grains. On sweet side. Dry finish. Also little bit of spicy notes in finish. Overall: not impressed but still drinkable and refreshing. Really basic with touch of macrobrewery character.
2.3 33cl bottle pours a mostly clear, dark gold with some sticky, white head. Big sugary nose, like an under fermented saison, honey, some muddled spice. Flavor is sweet, bubblegum, coriander, honey, mild cake. Sweet finish. Meh.
2.6 Aroma of sweet grains. Light bubblegum sweet taste at first like a hefeweizen. After bready with a tiny snap of bitterness. Interesting... Not bad, certainly not as bad as some reviews here, but definitely uneven and sometimes all over the place. Unbalanced, but drinkable.
2.4 Bottle, as pictured. I have no idea what this is but my parents brought it back from a recent trip to Europe/Russia. Copper colored pour, heavy on the malt and a tiny bit of spice. Thin mouthfeel and a little metallic. Nothing great.
1.4 Bottle shared at a tasting at Tom L place. Clear golden with off-white head. Aroma of vegetables and honey. Flavor of vegetables and honey, weird bitterness. Medium-bodied. Probably oxidised.
1.7 Bottle sample, thanks rayaron. Clear orange copper color. Smell of honey, cardboard, vegetables and wort. Sweet and oxidized flavors, corn, grains and honey. Medium-bodied, sticky mouthfeel. Meh.
2.5 Bottle 400ml. Nice light amber colour, ok head, lightly carbonated. First scent is the yeast which is suppressive. Sweetness, caramel, bread mixes with oily and uncanny metallic ending. Less than medium body with fast disappearing and uncomfortable, dull aftertaste. If you like the hop part, do not try this...anyway it gets worse as you drink...bad omen. Nothing Imperial, more like a trappist light lager...if there would be anything like that. :-)
1.3 Szép tükörtiszta, borostyán színű. Alapvetően lágeres, sajnos határozottan olajos, élesztős íz, ami utóízében is megmarad.
2.0 Pours a clear amber body with a white frothy head. Aroma of caramel, grains, hay, a bit metallic. Sweet taste mostly consists of malts, caramel, old bread, hay, grains and it leaves a metallic bitter aftertaste. Medium body, sticky texture and soft carbonation.
1.9 Bottled from Estonia. Pours clear orange, with medium cloudy head. Fruity aroma, and palate of caramel and malt.
2.9 0.4 l bottle. Had this one before joining RateBeer, therefore this entry is based on numerical notes only.
2.0 Bottle, medium stable and a bit stiff bubbly head, clear bronze color, aroma of yeast, vanilla and some wort, flavor of biscuit and fruit, quite sweet, light bitterness. Not good.
2.7 Scent rich, malty, with fruity tones, hints of honey and walnut shell. On the palate, bright acidity, hop tone, the background hides malt and fruit sweetness, bitterness is moderate, with a touch of wood. The finish seems bednovato bitterness gently stretches
3.1 Bottled. Nice lively golden colour with foamy white head. Fruity hop nose. Aroma is fruity and malts. Flavour is sweet, grains and malts. Dry soft bitter finish.
Barwa bursztynowa, klarowne. Wysycenie niskie.
1.9 Bottle shared at Ariel’s place. Clear golden. Aroma of wort, caramel, honey, graininess. Sweetish flavor of wort, graininess, caramel, a honey note, and a slightly bitterish finish. Light to medium-bodied, slightly sticky.
2.9 Sweetish aroma, taste is apples, sweet, nice dry aftertaste and a full body
2.2 KRS 180415. Pale amber colour with an off-white head. Aroma is butter, malt, caramel, grass. Flavour is butter, malt, caramel, grass, grain, pine, apple. Boring beer.
2.0 Bottle - Clear deep golden colour with a small, quickly disappearing white head. Weak malty aromas and maybe some floral hops and some unpleasant cooked veggies. Taste is sweet grainy maltiness and estery fruitiness, low hop bitterness. Too light body for a belgian ale. It has some sourish aftertaste. Forgettable.
2.9 0,4l bottle in market Szeged HU,clear golden with small white head aroma is malt, fruit caramel and yeast.
3.0 Bottle. Clear light amber color with white head. Aroma - Malts, sugar, fruit. Taste - Light sweet, pineapple, spice.
3.2 Red color, small white head. Aroma of yeast, honey and hop. Taste sweet, yeast and medium bitter finish. Light to medium body. Sweet-bitter aftertaste. More bitter then average Belgian ale. Not great, but really OK.
3.7 The beer has a beautiful reddish amber color. There is a nice layer of white foam on top of the beer. It looks delicious. The smell reminds me of La Trappe. It has a special yeasty aroma. Very nice. The smell has a kind of savory and bitter aroma. The taste has this same La Trappe appearance, so I love it. It reminds me the most of La Trappe blond, the smell, appearance and taste all have a little bit of this beer in it. This beer is definitely the best of the Albert le Coq Imperial beers.
3.0 0,4l Flasche. Goldenes Bier mit kleiner Schaumkrone. Riecht hefig fruchtig.
2.6 Clear amber beer with a small white head. Sweet and malty aroma with a hint of peaches. Sweetness, cooked vegetables, bulk lager flavors. Decent texture. Not very impressive.
3.0 Ambar, cobriza, de escasa espuma. Aroma dulce y tostado.
2.6 500 ml brown bottle purchased and consumed on Rodos, GR. Pours with a medium amber body and a creamy off-white head. Mild, sweet, flowery aroma with floral and herbal hops. Moderately sweet flavor.
