3.0on tap at a restaurant in florence. pours a clear ruby/brown with a creamy off white head. aroma is bread, yeast, hops and sweet malts. taste.... this is so damn sweet. the sweetest tripel i’ve ever had. bit tricky to rate because it’s so sweet. malty and smooth but just way too sweet.
3.4Amber hazy with rich off-white creamy head. In taste good balance of main components, mainly sour biterness, some touch of yeast fruity notes.
2.7Golden, amber coloured beer with a long lasting white head. Aroma of malt and soap which both return in the flavour. (Bottle 33cl)
3.0Bottle @ home. Golden colour, white foam. Lively carbonation. Fruity with malty notes. Sweet, light bitter hoppy finish. Decent tripel, nothing exceptional.
3.4Tasted as Abbaye de Bonne-Espérance and yesterday as Abbaye de Gembloux from a 75 cl bottle. Moussy, regular, cream white, stable head over a deep amber beer with brownish hue, clear at first but hazy with deposit, relatively strong fizz. Estery aroma of peach, apricot, melon, banana, orange peel, pineapple in syrup, butterscotch, bourbon, grass. Sweetish fruity onset, red apple, exotic fruits and stone fruit, honeyish sweetness in the background, sharpish and minerally carbonation, full caramelly malts with nutty touch, yeasty and leafy hop bitter finish with some ’jenever’-like warming alcohol. Nice balance between sweet and bitter, and in that respect a very decent tripel.
3.30.33L bottle. Pours clear copper with a huge white head. Aromas are of apple, vinous, bubblegum, hay. Flavor is medium sweet with sort of non-descript sugar and apple coming through in the middle. Finishes with a lightly dry herby hop and yeasty finish. Medium body with a sticky mouthfeel and active carbonation. Overall, some nice aromas, and very drinkable beer. Flavor isn’t all that complex, but has a decent balance between malt and hop bitterness.
4.7Had this on tap in Trieste, IT at the Boston Boulevard pub. To date, it’s my favorite.
3.0750 ml bottle. Dark golden yellow, quite hazy, with a big, creamy and persistent off white head. On the nose dried pluums, fruits under spirit, toffee and caramel, light bread and grass notes. Nicely bitter and fruity, slightly warming but relatively smooth. Burnt caramel, brown sugar and yeast in the aftertaste, as well as a rather umpleasent papery presence. Soft to average carbonation, medium body, slightly oily texture. So so.
3.1Colore ambrato molto opaca con un cappello di schiuma abbastanza persistente, si sente molto le note maltate e il luppolo nel finale.
3.4Clear orange yellow with medium white head. Aroma is malt, yeast and sugar. Flavour is sweet with notes of malt.
3.1Bottle 330ml @ home
Pours slightly hazy golden with a huge off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, yeast, dried fruits and hint of alcohol. Taste is medium sweet and light to medium bitter with a long warm, yeasty and fruity finish. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
3.9Donker geel bier met veel schuim. Smaak is hoppig bitter en fruitig zuur, koriander, kaneel. Blijft lang hangen. Uitstekende tripel.
3.8Un tripel davvero ottima. Svariati sentori di frutta con un retrogusto prima dolce e sul finire amarognolo. Quokka approved pure.
3.733cl bottle, tulip glass. Dense blond/orange colour with very few yeast and thin white foam and a good smell. Good malts slightly smoked, enough hops on the attack and finish, not too sweet and a clean champagne bitterness. A sort of nuts and peanuts flavours remains... Interesting beer.
3.7Donker blond, helder. Grote schuimkraag. Moutig aroma. Moutige volle smaak gevolgd door hopbitter.
3.3Shared a 33cl bottle from Cora (Luxembourg). Pours an almost clear orange yellow colour with foamy white head. Aroma is malt, yeast and lightly sugar. Medium carbonation and medium body. Flavour is a bit more sweet than bitter. But, overall, is a nice beer.
4.1With a bold sweat malty smell and a nice shiny look with a huge white foamy head, this is the ultimate Belgian Ale. It is just as sweat on the tongue as you would expect from its hearty smell but it doesn’t linger too long so you go back for more and more and more!
3.0helder koperen met schuimige witte kraag
aroma: moutig, kandij suiker zoet
smaken: redelijk zoet, licht bitter, sterk, licht fruitig, matig gemout, matige kruiden, iets droog in de mond, gist, ietwat metaligs, aardig maar géén topper
3.2330ml bottle. Aroma is light apple, yeast, fruits. Appearance is cloudy, dark orange with nice white head. Taste is sweet and light sour. A very light bitter after taste. Overall a very good beer but not the best tripple.
3.4Belgian amber beer by decent taste. It looks good and has a decent flavor. Good beer.
3.5Bottle at Festibière de Québec. A clear orangeish golden ale with a resilient white head. Aroma is sugar, malt, yeast. Flavor is candied sugar, sweetbread. Finish is a herbal touch, rather dry. Cuts quite well into the sugars. Medium body, sticky mouthfeel, average carbonation. Good!
3.5Bottle at festibière.
Pours golden with medium white head. Aroma is of candi sugar, fruits. Taste is of candi sugar, fruits, caramel. Palate: Light-medium body. Overall: A bit too heavy on candi. Fairly good.
