2.7Aroma is mild caramel, adjunct and slight honey. Taste is bready, slight caramel and lots of rice and corn adjunct followed by a tad of bland hops.
3.412 oz. bottle poured to a fest chalice at home showing a clear & bright, amber color, with a presentable layer of tan froth, with foamy dots & dashes of lacing. The nose was toasted, with a touch of caramel sweetness. Medium bodied, with good carbonation, the taste was similar, presenting a bit of malty creaminess, mild spice, and slightly roasted astringency with a touch of lingering earthiness to the finish. Not overly exciting, but food compatible, and decently drinkable.
2.9Poured solid amber, small head. Slight aroma of caramel, fudge, sweet toffee. Bit thinner on taste, malty bitterness, slight citrus notes. Overall not at all bad but not as solid as it could be.
2.5Pretty Basic tasting beer. Nothing special. Similar to a miller
3.612o bottle. Pours a clear. Bright amber with a big tight white head. Scents of malt and some caramel. The malt start is followed fast by a dry almost ashy body with some barnyard in the finish. Really complex and interesting. Sort astringent finish with some sours lingering. A good balanced but complicated amber.
2.5From bottle in shaker at Bourbon St., Southbank. Pours clear amber w/off-white head, modest malt aroma. Caramel sweetness without much bitterness to balance.
2.012oz bottle purchased at Walgreens. Pint glass. Copper light amber color. Quarter finger off white head. Smells slightly metallic. Malty cereal. Taste is very mild sweetness with an odd bitterness and a slightly skunky off flavor. Pretty unpleasant. Only consume in desperate situations.
2.2Bottle in new Orleans with commonmac and samalito and rosskyle and crew. Light red copper with medium off white head . Malty, thinner. Not great.
3.112oz bottle pours a clear amber with a small khaki head. Sweet caramel malt and lager yeast aroma. Taste of sweet caramel and toffee malt with some hop bitterness and lager yeast on the finish. Meh.
2.0Rien d’exceptionnel. Peu de saveur. Beaucoup de mousse. Presque au niveau d’une Heineken.
2.9(12oz bottle, part of a mix 12-pack)
AROMA: slightly sweet n sour, biscuit .. almost powdery smelling, nutty, not very hoppy, light corn/grain
APPEARANCE: nice orangey brown amber, good one finger light tan head, residual with islands of bubbles, slight haziness,
TASTE: light corn sweetness, soft grain, green grass and hay, some toasty maltness and caramel on the finish
PALATE: light to medium body, nice crispness upfront, a bit watery in the middle, touch of cream and then lager astringency on the finish
OVERALL: not very malty or hoppy, but fresh and quite drinkable. A bit different than the amber lagers I've had recently. Very good looking beer. Smooth and just enough Flavor to be interesting, this could be an every day beer.
2.4Pours amber with a one finger, light head. Aroma iOS light caramel and roast. Taste is thin caramel, moving to light roast. Finish is thin roast.
2.8Draft to pint at Allyn's pour light copper with thin ecru head. Nose wet cardboard and toffee. Taste light apple, caramel, big grainy malt.
3.7Not bad but not great. The wife liked it better than I did she can finish the 6 pack.
3.0From tap at Steamboat Natchez, New Orleans. Aroma is bready malt with caramel, dark bread, some nutty notes. Sweetish and mildly bitter, medium body, simple agreeable Amber.
2.8Average pour & mouthfeel w/ just an ok aroma & taste. It's clean & easily drinkable so I guess that's something. I'm not an Abita fan but this isn't terrible!
1.3One bad tasting beer. First amber beer I've actually hated. Poured in the spit pale without finishing
5.0Best Amber on the market. Caramel and biscuit flavors, but easy on the palate for a great session.
2.612 oz bottle into a La Chouffe stemmed tulip on 4th Jan 2018 at my daughters in California. Bright amber body, clean and clear, full head of white foam on top. Light malty nose and taste, watery body wise and fairly bland in flavour. Expected and wanted more from this beer, which is a rare rate from Louisiana for me.
3.1Perfectly serviceable, middle-of-the-road amber. A bit on the sweet/toasty side.
2.812 oz bottle pours amber with a off white head. Aroma of toasted malts, crackers and a hint of pine. Taste is malts and some pine
2.7Sampled from a 12 oz can this beer poured a honey amber color with a large foamy orange tan head that lingered and left minimal lacing. The aroma was yeasty, tangy and a bit off. The flavor was tangy and sweet with caramel and bread. Long finish. Medium body. Meh.
4.0Easy drinking smooth lager. An all day beer for sure.
1.0Quite a decent beer taste with quite a good flavor. Not bad for a USA beer. Quite too much in hops, quite typical for a USA craftie "IPA" mess. There, have I said "quite" enough for this review so it can be like all the others?
7/2021 - havent seen this beer in a couple years. in atlanta, they get rid of anything that sells better than their "famous" sweetwater crap......... reduced rating to remove from my list
3.1Bottle. It poured an amber color with a white head. The aroma was of caramel, bread and malts. The taste was similar to the aroma with more caramel, bread, malts and a touch of hops. It had a medium body with mild carbonation and a sweet aftertaste. Not bad.
3.6Hazy, light amber color with a thin head of semi-creamy offwhite colored foam. Caramel and raisin notes on the aroma. More caramel and some toffee on the taste with a subtle floral hop character going on.
3.1draft. Pours a medium, poorly retained off white head, over a clear dark amber (SRM 11) body.....nose is toasted malts with melanoidin, no cocoa, minimal hops, no eaters......taste is toasted malts with cracker and toasted bread tones, no caramel, no eaters, dry throughout, slight hop spice, finishing with moderate bitterness........mouth feel, medium light body, no alcohol high carbonation. This is a very clean, lightly toasted beer, nicely balanced between malts and hops, but overall simple in aroma and taste. It is an easy drinking summer beer. BJCP 9/3/16/4/7
4.3First beer I had outside of bud light, Budweiser, etc.. goes great with Louisiana and as a Louisiana native I love our breweries!
2.3Slightly bready malts with a watery aftertaste. Nothing impressive on the flavor front but nothing really offensive.
5.0It might not be the hottest beer style, but, this is one of the best Ambers out there
