2.4 Draught at Perch Brewery as "Mardi Gras Bock", 3/9/18. Clear, goldenrod-to-light-brass. Thin white head showing low retention. Waxy, vague, mineralesque nose does not feel anywhere near as malty as a bock should. Some vanilla, light honey, vague grain and light cereal really go nowhere and there's a touch of corn and alcohol lingering. In the mouth it's quite thin, bland, loose of texture and with an undermalted, borderline husky character and uninteresting, poorly developed flavors of vanilla, cereal and light, thin honey.
2.4 5/5/18: $1.66 + tax at Binny's. 12 oz pour into into chalice. Light copper bronze pour, one finger white puffy head, thin lacing remains. Light malt and cinnamon aroma. Very light negligible taste. Mild carbonation, thin texture. Won't seek this out again.
3.1 Clear gold. Grainy, full palate, sweet finish. Draft at the Brass Tap in National Harbor, Maryland.
3.5 Solid draft. Unique flavor for an amber. Can't really describe. Too distracted by bartender's rear end
2.9 Tap, Mellow's. Clear golden amber with a thin off-white head. There are hints of citrus here, but it's mainly about malt and grain, somewhat on the sweet side, mild hops. Low-medium carbonation, smooth semi-sweet grainy finish.
3.2 Draft at Gumbo YAYA in Jacksonville, FL. The bock poured a clear Amber color with a small head that quickly dissipated. Limited lacing. There is some sweet aroma from the caramel malts. The bock has medium body with average carbonation. This was a great beer to have with conch fritters. The bock had a clean finish with some mild sweetness.
2.5 Sugary malt with a fizzy backbone and a slight amber tinge. Satisfying but unbalanced.
3.8 Pours a orange amber with a thin white head. Maple syrup and malt forward. Finish is dry and balanced
3.8 Hazy amber with small white head Nose is tons of caramel with bready malt and some fruit taste is balanced sweet and bitter. More caramel. Very dry finish with lingering fruity/hoppiness. Medium mouthfeel without much carbonation. Overall, a fruity tasty Bock! 3/5/19 With A on Mardi Gras watching Princess & the Frog! Expecting step 1 score tomorrow. Nose is lots of sweet caramel malt and just a touch of lagery/hop funk. Taste is sweet and full with heaps of bready caramel malt and just a touch of earthy, noble hops. Palate is crisp & medium. Sweet finish with just a bit of hop funk. Super drinkable. Overall, I really like this one. Better than I remembered and a perfect Mardi Gras beer to have with just about any food. I dig it!
3.8 Pours a mostly clear orangish coppery color with off-white head. Caramel malt, cereal grain, bread, and some light sweet notes on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes with a nice malt bill.
3.5 12 ounce bottle. Amber orange color capped by a moderate sized foamy white head. Malty nose has hints of buttery caramel and toasted grain. First sip is toasted malt and nuts. Sweet malty middle, like 12 grain bread and honey. Subtle spicy hop finish.
3.3 caramels malts in the aroma. taste is some chocolate and roast malts. bottle 12oz,
3.1 Draught at Blue Stallion. Dark amber orange in color with malty nose and a lot of caramel.
2.3 Buttery and weak, with a mildew nose and noticeably slack carbonation. Tastes mildly sweet, with a corn and caramel undertone rubbing up against toast and nothing, leading to a modest Brit-hop fade. Not good.
3.1 Pours a copper golden with a creamy, antique white head. Bubble gum and sweet citrus nose. Hearty mouthfeel. Flavors follow the nose faithfully. Decent all around beer, especially for long Mardi Gras parades.
2.3 Pours clear amber with minimal head. Aroma is yeast esters with hints of malt sweetness. Flavor carries some sweetness to it with notes of apple.
3.8 Smells of malt and spices. Cream soda colored. Nice smooth malts light but fitting coin flavor.
2.8 Shared 12 oz. bottle. As Abita Mardi Gras Bock. Hazy pale amber with an off-white head. Aroma and taste of malt, caramel, and bread. Fairly mild. Decent.
2.9 Aroma: malty and bready; Appearance: light amber, cloudy, with thin white head; Taste: starts with maltiness of Turbodog but ends with cereal-like, almost pilsner taste; Palate: medium body with long, sweet/cereal finish; Overall: okay for Abita; might drink again if available.
4.0 Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a clear light golden amber color with a large off-white head. The aroma is malt with some citrus. The taste is sweet grain. A nice offering from Abita.
2.9 Bottle at home. Bready malts on the nose. Clean malty flavor profile, lagery, crackers, very mild bitterness. Decent helles.
3.5 Pours a very clear golden amber color. About two fingers white head. Excellent retention, good lacing. Beautiful. Aroma is bready, yeasty. Caramel and sweet. Not very aromatic. Taste is sweet and malty. Almost syrupy. Tastes good, but bland. Mouthfeel is medium full bodies. Pretty high ABV, but well hidden. Not bitter at all. Overall, it’s good. Bock’s are among my least favorite styles. This is fairly good. If I were wanting a Bock, I would certainly consider this. So, yes, I’d have this again.
2.5 Eh, not a good bock. Clearish brown. Bready and oddly spiced bock with some sort of weird off taste. Not my fav.
2.6 This has a pretty nice floral/noble hop character but the malt is all kinds of too sweet and weird. It’s a bit heavy and sticky on the palate as well. This feels like something of a near miss but it’s a miss regardless. I cannot recommend this to people who like drinking things that taste really good.
3.0 on tap @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Aroma of caramel. Clear medium/dark amber, smooth beige head, strings of lace. Taste is malt with some caramel, light fizz on the swallow, and light hops in the finish. A very simple brew, easy to drink, seems less than 6.5%.
3.2 Pours a mostly clear copper color with a nice two finger white head that retains throughout the beer. The aroma is rather faint, I pick up mostly caramel, some sweetness, and brown bread. The taste is more of the same but it is not a bad beer. The alcohol is hidden quite well and the mouthfeel is light to medium.
3.1 12 oz bottle pours a dark amber color with a nice white head. Aromas of grain, caramel, bread. Light bodied, simple nice beer.
3.2 12 oz. bottle. Mardi Gras Bock. Pours copper with white head. Aroma was malts, biscuit and sweet fruit. Taste was sweet and caramel.
2.9 Tap at Beer Authority, New York. Colour is clear orange with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Some fruits, grain, dryness and malts.
2.1 Drank from a pilsner glass poured from a twelve ounce bottle. A good brew a bit sweet.
