Bourbon Street Stout is an Imperial Stout that is aged in Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon barrels. Our Imperial Stout is brewed with a combination of pale, caramel, chocolate and roasted malts. Oats are also added to give the beer a fuller and sweeter taste. The roasted malts give the beer its dark color as well as its intense flavor and aroma. After fermentation the beer is cold aged for 6 weeks. This is necessary for all of the flavors of the malt and hops to balance and produce a very smooth flavor.
After the cold aging the beer is transferred into the bourbon barrels. It is then aged for another 8 weeks to absorb all of the flavors from the barrels. The result is a strong stout that brings out the roasted flavors from the malt and the warming toasted, vanilla, and bourbon flavors from the barrels.

3.7On tap at Old Line Bistro in Beltsville, MD.
Opaque, black-brown with a small tan head and very good lacing.
Aroma of roasted malt, vanilla, roasted coffee, tobacco and dark chocolate.
Taste of roasted malt, vanilla, bourbon, roasted coffee, tobacco and dark chocolate.
Medium/full body and medium/high carbonation.
3.6Typical looking pour for the style - not overly dense or anything, but good looking. Palate is a touch thin for 10%. Smooth and a little boozy. Light char, lots of bourbon vanilla and some molasses and dark roast as well. A touch on the sweet simple side, but hit the spot.
3.3Local bottle probably 6-9 months old. Classic dark brown pour with a small tan head. Aroma has hints of brown sugar, bourbon and molasses. Flavor starts with a nice dark malt flavor but then some raw bourbon slaps you around a little. Okay but a little one dimensional and boozy.
3.6Bottle aged in beer cellar since Oct. 2014. Black color with tan head. Aroma of sweet vanilla. Bourbon Whisky, Chocolate, Coffee and Licorice. As with a lot of these bourbon barrel stouts, at 1st sip I think there is too much bourbon. As the alcohol affects me as I drink more, it’s less noticeable and enjoy it more. It was a good time.
3.7The beer pours brown-black with a medium tan head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Partial rings of lacing. Roast malt, chocolate and oak in the nose. Medium to full body with flavors of oaky bourbon, malt and bittersweet chocolate. The finish is roasty and oaky with a bourbon aftertaste. Above average overall.
3.7Pours an oily dark mahogany brown with fluffy tan head. Aromas of dark malts, tobacco, and heavy bourbon notes. Flavors of bitter chocolate, smoke, and some nice bourbon notes.
3.2Winter Beer Dabbler, 2016. Black color, bottled. Moderate bourbon aroma and flavor, some carbonation. A little sweet. Roasted malt, and it dries out near the end of the sip. OK for a bourbon aged beer.
3.2Bottle best by March 27, 2016.
Appearance: Mellow pour, little head. Body has some translucence, surprising for the ABV.
Aroma: Aroma is mild, shows some chocolate, coffee, bourbon, and some dark fruit aromas. A bit mineral on the finish.
Taste: Dark fruits, fig is strong. Mild chocolate and roast, hints of bourbon.
Palate: Light and soft on the palate.
Overall: Might have been aged too long, some red flags for a 10% beer though. Not very viscous and light in color which is weird for a 10% beer. It’s not bad, but I can see why it doesn’t seem to have aged well.
4.0Bottle - 650ml. Pours an opaque black body with an average, lasting, beige foamy head. Fantastic malty aroma with Bourbon, oaky, chocolate, and vanilla hints. Alcohol is not too agressive. Its robust, rich malty/hoppy taste carries Bourbon, oaky, liquorice, plummy, and some roasted cereals notes. Ends with a long, warming bittersweet finish. Very well done!
3.6Coconut, vanilla, oak, dark chocolate nose, rich and complex. Black, medium tan head, low retention. Bourbon and oak, coffee underneath. Tastes nothing like it smells. Lighter body for the style, easy carbonation. Charred oak finish.
3.7On tap @ Public House in Vegas. Rich looking, very dark brown with a finger-thick light brown head. Lots of bourbon here, with a heavily roasted big stout body. Finish has alcohol that borders on intrusive.
3.6Bottle - big tan thick head, pitch black color, sweet boozy roasty aroma and flavor, with some vanilla and wood notes, mild chocolate, smooth finish, pretty good overall
3.9Taste of rich warming bourbon and toasted malts.
Dark brown color and mostly clear. Semi sweet malty bourbon nose.
Full but not heavy body, with a tan delicate lace.
Woody barrel notes are present as with a bit of alcohol bite.
3.7Bottle. Another good beer from Abita. Deep, dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma was chocolate, coffee with notes of vanilla. Taste is chocolate, burnt toast, vanilla, bourbon.
3.4650ml bottle. Dark brown pour, cheaper bba beer and not bad either, very chocolatey, some vanilla and bourbon, lower body, but not enough to ruin it.
4.0Draft at Klobys. Pours viscous black with thin tan head. Sweet toffee, vanilla and bourbon notes. Lots of flavor, espresso, dark chocolate, almonds, vanilla bean and Pappy van winkle shining through... A fine BBA RIS...
3.522 oz. bottle pours a dark with small but lasting light brown head. Aroma is mostly roasted malts, with some vanilla, oak, chocolate and bourbon. Taste is sweet with a boozy finish. It became easier to drink as it warmed up, but the first sip . Body is full with a slightly sticky mouthfeel and perhaps too much carbonation. I expected more from a barrel aged Imperial Stout, having tried so many great ones.
4.2Abita Bourbon Street Barrel Aged Imperial Stout is a brownish black beer with a thin head of small tan bubbles. Nose is vanilla, oak, caramel, and a little creme brulee. Taste is sweet caramel and vanilla with a bit of the oak and the alcohol on the back end . body is luscious and creamy. a very fine example of the best of blending imperial stouts and bourbon aging.
3.922 ounce bottle. The beer is a dark brown to black with a khaki head of foam. The aroma has wood, oats, bourbon, caramel, nuts, toffee. The taste is mostly sweet and boozy, and has a nice bready oaty character. Bigger body and lower carbonation. Pretty nice.
3.9Draft that poured a dark black. The aroma is a little boozey, while the flavor is chocolate and vanilla. Very good.
3.5Thought I’d had this but I have no evidence .. . Pours a dark brown black .. Really happy foam .. Mild bourbon, burnt wood, and ink .. Mouth is, as expected, mild .. Nice and simple finish .. A step in the right direction once again for Abita .. . . Please don’t feed the monkeys!
3.3650 ml. BB 03/27/16.
3.7Bottle. Brown-black beer with a light tan head. Chocolate and bourbon aroma. caramel and chocolate flavor with bourbon. Medium bodied. Caramel and bourbon lingers with light chocolate.
4.2From a 22oz bottle poured in a Scotch Silly tulip glass. Aroma of rich malts, bourbon, caramel, salt toffee. Medium carbonation and significant mouthfeel. Flavors of dark malts, malt balls, toffee, bourbon. Overall big, bold, significant alcohol but flavorful, quite enjoyable.
3.4Sampled from the tap at the Oklahoma Craft Beer Festival. Pours a near clear dark brown with a brown head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has notes of musty dark grains with a bit of bitter chocolate supported by bourbon. Flavor has musty dark grains with bitter chocolate, roasted malts and a hint of bourbon.
3.4Dark black, light tan head. Light vanilla and molasses, sweaty gym bag notes. Light bitterness, kinda sweet, weird funky earthiness. Medium body, kinda lightly carbonated. Lingering finish. Fine.
3.9Aroma is caramel and roasted/toasted malts. The flavor is dark malts, caramel, toasted malts and an acidic/dryish finish.
3.8Bottle… RBWG 2015… Pours black with a small, fleeting, mushroom-colored head. The aroma is an intertwining of bourbon, fudge, dark chocolate and a hint of caramel. Full-bodied with laid-back carbonation. The flavor is a plush swirl of vanilla, chocolate crème, almond nuttiness and caramel. Finishes with a nice kiss of buttery toffee.
4.1On tap at Square Burger. Pours black with a thin off white head. The aromas are bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, coffee, motor oil. The mouthfeel is dry and bitter with a heavy body and light carbonation. Cheers!
3.8Very good beer. Effervescent comes to mind when I think of the mouth feel. Great malty, bread flavor. One pint and six ounce bottle.
