2.6 Serving: 12 oz. bottle from Wegmans Leesburg. It pours a deep gold color with a short lived head. The nose is mostly earth, caramel and light malt notes. The flavor mirrors the nose with a bit of caramel and a very weak bitterness. Flabby body. Lots of room for improvement in this brew.
2.5 Orange/Yellow and a bit hazy on the pour. A bit fruity sweet with a more malty taste. The malty, light sweet orange taste goes rapidly away and ends tasting bland.
2.4 Clear golden color with two finger head and some lacing. Not much more than aroma of malt. Malt in taste and faint corn with some earthy bitterness. Moderate mouthfeel and carbonation. Mediocre marzen. Probably wouldn't buy again.
2.7 Pots golden with some Ed highlight. Small white head. Faint smell of malt with some sweetness. Taste is also faintly malty with some antiseptic taste. Not very complex and not very good.
3.4 Bottle. Pours a cloudy gold with medium creamy white head leaving sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is honey malt and fruit. Thin mouthfeel with a sweet hop and honey flavor with nice lingering light dry finish. A good marzen from Abita.
3.1 Aroma is grains/bread and a unique earthy character. The flavor is bread, malts, mild sweetness a hint of fruit and a mild dirty character into the finish.
2.4 Pours a yellow color with a hint of orange. Has a clean aroma with a slight mixed malt smell. Taste is clean and crisp. The mixed malt and hops comes through in the taste. Aftertaste of filtered water with a dissipating malt flavor. A decent not complex beer.
2.5 Had a couple of bottles at a party. Worked. Nothing awesome nothing bad. Hard for me to describe tasting notes on it :P.
1.5 Does Abita brew a good beer? I’m beginning to think not. This marzen actually smelled like a bit of pooh, nutty poop. Not joking. Taste is bad upfront, but the aftertaste is about the only redeeming quality of this beer, it was nutty like a good nut brown ale.
2.8 12 oz. bottle from Randalls in North County. This is very clear and light coppery. Active carbonation keeps a smallish off white head. A light aroma of malt and very soft spices. Light hop notes are tasted first. Something like maple is tasted and a bit of nuts. The key words are "light," "little," and "soft."
2.3 Draft. Poured a pale amber. Aroma and flavor were mildly malty. A bit of citrus and hop bitterness. Pretty bland.
2.0 Do they make anything worth drinking... 12 oz bottle to glass. Everything is underwhelming. Minimal aroma _ malt maybe. Faintest pumpkin color possible taste is slightly worse than nothing. Not Nast just nothing. Waste of ....
2.9 Clear amber pour with a white head. Decent lacing. Aroma of grain and nuts. Caramel, grain, and nuts round out a decent but unimpressive flavor.
3.6 Clear pale amber with beige head; aroma of strong malt and a hint of maple; flavor is fresh malt; flava is malt and mustard; feels crisp yet full; finishes malty yet dry. pretty good beer!
2.2 Bottle. Orange pour with minimal head. Would be tough to make this any waterier than it is. Everything is muted and bland. Not a good beer by any stretch.
3.2 Weak aromas of maple and dark fruits. See-through amber with a quick dissipating foam. Slightly watery with flavors of caramel, brown sugar, and amber malts. Overall, very simple brew with no complexity. A little watered down. I’d give this a C- rating.
3.4 330 ml bottle. Pours a clear, golden with a resilient white head. Smell is sweet, earthy, cereals, spicy. Taste is cereals, malt, syrup, wheat, spices, cinnamon, ginger. Finish is slightly earthy, mostly spicy. Medium bodied, foamy mouthfeel. Good!
1.8 Bottle. Bland aroma of malt. The taste has an artificial syrup flavoring to it, along with basically a bland, terrible overall malt flavor. An oily, water consistency and little to no finish. Jesus tapdancing Christ, Abita! I love you guys! You have the absolute best tours of your brewery! Great folks, usually solid beers...but damn if this isn’t the worst beer I’ve had since Purple Haze from you guys! Oh well, maybe the next one will be a winner! 6.1% alcohol.
3.0 Sample tasted on October 14th, 2012. I had no idea this was an Oktoberfest, thought it was just a fall style beer. Nice amount of malt, lighter palate per usual of abita. Decent, drinkable.
2.5 Into a pint glass. Straw/golden color with a finger of head. Faint smell of grain, a little wet. Nice taste. Pretty well balanced without any standout flavors. Mildly bitter with a little honey at the end. Crisp body. Not the greatest, but certainly a great drink.
1.7 Pours clear amber with a tall,off-white head. Scent is quite faint....malt. Taste is malty.....slightly nutty....A bit of caramel? maybe? Incredibly weak...a bit of hop, mild bitter...watery. Nothing terrible, just nothing good, either.
2.4 Bottle. Pours a light amber color with very little head. This is very malty, almost to the point of being sour. It’s definitely a tad bitter. Not one of my faves.
2.4 their is something lacking in this beer. its got all the necessary qualities that makes for a marzen but doesn’t have any of the substance. its malts is not flavorful and become kind of lacking at the end.
3.8 Very smooth with excellent body and pleasing aeroma. Aftertaste is lingering and makes me crave more.
2.3 A-- Poured a carmel color with a one finger head. moderate carbonation and a little bit of lacing. S-- A little bit of roasted malts, a touch of pecan. Not much else. T-- A little carmel, pecan and roasted malts. M-- Well carbonated. The pecan comes through more in the mouthfeel but not all that apparent. Very light and not all that flavorful. D-- Good drinkability but not much to this beer. not a good fall beer at all. A session beer with not a lot of flavor and not much else to it.
2.9 A weak example fo the German fall festbier. Some of the taste notes are there, but it has a very watered down mouthfeel. Decent, but wouldn’t past muster in Germany...
1.9 Bottle from Cavie. Light orange pour with a white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, and cinnamon. Taste is fallen leaves in in your dying, dirty, fall yard.
3.1 12 ounce bottle, poured an amber color, aromas of caramel, malt, and some bread. Flavor is the same, not the best take on this style, but certainly not the worst I’ve had either.
3.4 A nice Marzen. A hint of caramel malt, roasted malt, toast and spice. The finish is mildly chocolate and floral.
3.3 Moldy nutty aroma, average beer look with little head. Taste is very beer like with slight nutty flavor. An average beer that I won’t buy again. Sweet light hops.
