Abita Golden

Abita Golden

Abita Golden is a crisp, clean continental lager.
Just four ingredients is all it takes: American malt, Mt. Hood hops, German lager yeast and pure Abita spring water.

As the name applies, Abita Golden has a brilliant gold color.

2.6 Bottle. Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of semi sweet grains and hay with a hint of earthy grass. Flavor has lots of sweet grains with some underlying grassiness and a bit of biscuit and hay.
2.1 Rated on 4-08-2009 - This bottled beer pours a medium sized white head with a short retention, transparent yellow body, fast rising, very fizzy carbonation, and spotty amounts of lacing. The Aroma is malty, hoppy, corn, and crisp. The Taste is a duplicate of the Aroma. The Palate is lightly tingly and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, the flavors of this beer just did not come together as they should have as it falls way short of being a very tasty beer. This is a beer I do not recommend.
3.3 This is a very Well balanced crisp beer, smooth and finishes very clean. Appearance is golden.
1.6 Bottle: Not a big fan of Abita, most beers are thin and lack character. Food Pairing: Conch ceviche.
2.8 Pours a pale straw color with a small head that fades quickly to no real lacing. Aroma of citrus, some malt sweetness and grain. Taste is quite bland with a bit of malt sweetness and grain. Light bitterness and a a clean finish. Light body with no real flavor, A non-offensive beer that reminds me of a dull Euro Lager.
3.4 Poured into a pint glass out of a growler. Pours a clear light gold with just a half finger white head. There is some wispy head on top but very little in the way of lacing or head retention for that matter. Aroma is slightly sweet with lots of grain and hints of caramel and toast. A little bit of lemon and roasted malt and a yeasty note that is very typical of Abita. Some sweetness up front in the flavor, more than i was expecting, along with quite a bit of grain. More bready malt along with lemon and toasted malt. Some grassy hops but they are buried far in the background along with a light bitterness. Moderately sticky mouthfeel with a little bit of lingering chalkyness. Overall, I do like this beer but feel the sweetness could be toned down just a bit. Drinkability is somewhat limited by this but I could still put back a few of these.
2.5 bottle. The perfect example of Abita beer. Utterly boring, yet inoffensive. I can’t imagine someone getting excited about this at all.
3.0 Slight cloudy yellow pour with a white head. Aroma of malt and sweet hops. Flavor is the same. Medium body with a tad too much carbonation.
2.8 Almost clear, dull gold with a short, white head. Malt and citrus aroma. Taste is light....grainy/bready, corn. Average, but OK.
2.5 Light Yellow, Some Head And Lacing. Standard Lager that . Some citrus, some metalic taste, no real bitterness. Easy toi drink and as easy to forget since nothing really stands out. Average.
2.5 Draft at Beer Run. Pours a clear golden color with a medium sized frothy white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of cereal grains and grass. The taste is cereal grains, grass and corn. Thin-medium bodied.
2.4 04.01.2013. 0,355l Bottle. Vieux Carre’ Wine and Spirits, New Orleans. Pale gpolden yellow colour with white head. Rather weak malty aroma with very crisp dry hoppy flavours. Body is clean, but thin. Flavours of dry grassy hops. Dry mouthfeel, with short dry aftertaste with a sour finish. Refreshing stinging carbonation, notes of metallic flavours. A clean lager.
2.9 Aroma: wheat smell predominately Appearance: very clear, very transparent, almost no head Taste: heavy wheat taste, no hop taste really, dry, light, good plain wheat beer Palate: light, dry, crisp, wheat aftertaste Overall: good wheat tasting beer, you would think it's a light beer. It has it's place
2.7 330 ml bottle. Pours a clear yellow straw with a resilient white head. Taste is wheat, yeast, corn syrup. Slight touch of herbal hops. Light bodied. Meh...
3.0 A decently good beer. Easy-to-drink with meals, especially spicy, Southern foods. Light taste, a little watery. Doesn’t have corn in it but has a slight corn taste.
3.0 Bottle, thanks to my brother. This says it is a helles and has the correct 4.2% abv. The body is a slightly hazy medium gold with thin whisps of a white head. The doughy nose has some raw potatoes. The taste is like bell peppers and dough. A middle of the road bland brew, but not flawed. Earlier Rating: 2/27/2004 Total Score: 2.5 Slightly spicy aroma. Generally, not much more flavor than the lagers that you would expect. Slight hops, just tenough to keep it interesting, but still very smooth and drinkable.
3.3 Clear yellow with a fizzy white head. Malted barley aroma and taste with light vanilla notes to the finish and a medium body.
2.9 Aroma is mildly sweet grains. The flavor is mildly sweet malts, a hint of vegetables and a hint of hops in the finish.
2.2 Bottle. Light golden, small and fully diminishing head. Light to moderate, malty - lightly grainy and lightly sweetish aroma, light grassy hoppyness. Body light to medium, malty - lightly grainy and lightly sweetish, light grassy hoppyness. Finish is short to average, malty and lightly sweetish, light grassy hoppyness. Watery lager - that´s it.
2.8 4/16/12. 12oz bottle. Slightly hazed golden pour with a small off-white head that fades and barely laces. The aroma is 90% creamed corn with touches of wheat malt and bread. Soft, bready flavor with small punches of orange and tart lemon, but not a lot. Very plain. Meh.
2.5 Hazy golden pour a very mild hop and smoke aroma. Not a lot going on. The body was too thin for my taste with a slight skunk finish.
2.2 Bottle - pale yellow and slightly cloudy. Has a light citrus taste to it and it has a watered down finish. Nothing special about this beer.
2.7 Reviewed from notes (2008). A: Thin straw yellow color with a non existant head... S: Faint malt aroma with a passing hop highlight T: The taste matches the aroma exactly... not terribly complex... but pleasant malt flavors nonetheless M: Smooth and refreshing... light-medium body.. medium carbonation O: An ok session beer.
3.1 12 oz bottle. Pours clear yellow with small white head. The aroma is subtle and malty with some fruity notes. The flavor is light crackery malt with a little bit of grassy hops. Finish is a tad watery. Smells better than it tastes.
2.9 Bottled sample. Pale gold in colour with strong carbonation. Aromas are of pilsner malt, clover honey, white bread dough, and a touch of earthy hops. Muted pilsner malt and mineral flavour, along with some sulfur and grass. Mouthfeel starts creamy before a clean mineral finish on the back end. Nothing special, but not all that bad either.
1.5 Bottle from sprint mart. Pours dark golden with a thin white head that goes poof as soon as you turn your back. Not much on the nose except a bit of corn. pretty bland taste, slightly metallic finish.
2.2 12oz bottle, purchased from Party Source for $1.45. Totally clear lightish yellow color, good head fading quickly to minimal, some lace. I just had the Abita Light before this, which I was pleasantly suprised with, but this one isn’t doing the same thing for me. It lacks that pleasant citrusy sweetness, this one is just light skunk, bread, water (although I am seeing the hint of spicy hotness that someone else suggested). Some bitter taste. Drinkable, with a good texture and crisp, smooth carbonation. Noticable aftertaste, which is kind of unfortunate.
2.4 Bottled@Monks Café Wallingatan, Stockholm. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is malty, bready and some slight grassy notes. Flavour is much the same. Refreshing, but rather boring and watery.
2.1 12 oz. bottle in a shaker. Clear golden pour with medium head and high carbonation. No distinct aroma. Somewhat flavorless, but kind of refreshing. Wouldn’t choose to drink it regularly, but wouldn’t mind it on occasion.
2.7 Bottle: Pours a light orange color with a nice white head. The nose is light and husky with a touch of wooden tasting hops. Clean light flavor, light body and a husky grassy finish. What’s more to say.
