Abita Grapefruit Harvest is a brilliant golden IPA with a subtle zest of grapefruit flavor and aroma that enhances the strong hop character. This bright, snappy brew is made with real Louisiana Ruby-Red grapefruits, pale, pilsner and caramel malts and cascade hops.
The strong hop profile and subtle zest of grapefruit make it a good choice with grilled chicken. This brew would also pair well with ceviche or raw Louisiana oysters.

3.7Pours a hazy golden with a nice creamy head. Aroma is a strong presence of grapefruit and citrus hops. First taste is hops driven with grapefruit and citrus, mildly sweet. Finishes with a mildly bitter taste that is dominated by grapefruit and citrus. Good pairing for grilled seafood dishes or as an after dinner choice. Not the greatest IPA around but one of the best Abita has to offer.
2.7Meh. Might have a little age. Almost sickly sweet and tart grapefruit, but little else going on with the hops, and more than enough malt. A touch of cardboard. Not bad, but not worth the coin, either.
3.4Bottle poured a hazy tarnished gold with a small lasting ivory head. Aromas of bread, grapefruit zest and a hint of yeast. Palate was light bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of bread and grapefruit zest with a smooth dry lightly bitter lingering grapefruit zest finish.
3.0Bottle @ home, picked up at Boulder Liquor Mart. Pours a pretty clear, golden yellow appearance with a foamy off white head. Sure enough, there is quite a bit of grapefruit juice in the nose. There’s a lot of bland, bitter herbal hops. Spritzy like a soda. Kind of a like a Steigler Grapefruit Radler. Pretty juice. Not super hard to drink. Not my favorite. Ok.
3.6Pous a nice medium amber color with white head. Grapefruit pretty much dominates the nose, just a hint of pine; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a small hop bite.
3.7I found this to be a step up from all the shandy type grapefruit stuff that’s been coming around lately. It has a little more beer taste than what’s out there and the 6% is strongest of those I’ve tried. Definitely a summer bbq type drink to be served ice cold. Get it above 7% and put it in a can, and I’ll up the rating.
3.5Twelve ounce bottle from Abita variety 12 pack purchased at Jeff’s Marathon, tasted on March 22, 2015. Hazy medium gold hue, nice aroma of grapefruit/resin/hops, somewhat creamy texture, well balanced bittersweet flavor with prominent grapefruit notes. Fine brew.
3.2Bottle @ NYC Craft Beer festival. Hazy pale yellow with very small whgite foamy head, little citrus aroma, low carbonation, strong grapefruit taste, bitter long finish. Interesting fruity beer.
3.212 oz bottle.
Excellent fruity aroma. Suggests a taste that is sweeter than reality.
Lightly hazy amber body with a large white head.
Some sweetness up front, then moderatly tart and midly bitter. Plenty of grapefruit and more vaguely citrus fruit.
3.9Bottle. This totally hits a sweet spot for me - absolutely loving this. Hazy yellow pour with a white head. Huge aroma and taste of red grapefruit, but not really tart/sour. Just a bit, but more sweet and juicy. Yummy.
2.8Pours yellow yellow yellow with a thick white head. Aroma is citrusy hops and a very distinct grapefruit rind aroma. Taste is white grapefruit that immediately goes to some muted malts and a mellow bitter finish. All of the flavors are kinda rounded off and watery. Nothing sharp about this one.
3.4Bottle - good size foamy head, hazy medium straw color, definite grapefruit aroma and flavor, but a little more on the sweet side of grapefruit as opposed to bitter, fair malt backbone, pretty good overall
3.3Poured from a bottle. Light golden yellow with white head and some lacing. Refreshing grapefruit aroma with some biscuity malts. A bit of a lager taste to this beer. Fizzy and crisp. Decent citrusy ipa.
4.8Great summer drinking beer. Would buy in bottles to drink out on the patio. Much more palatable than Ruby Redbird. Not too happy for me.
3.4Appearance was hazy gold with lasting creamy white 1 finger head, rings of lacing. Aromas are slight sweet pils and pale malts, then a blast of citrus fruits. Taste are grapefruit upfront then soft middle malt sweetness. The backend is citrus of more grapefruit, lemon and orange, no alcohol. Palate was soft smooth CO2 with light-medium body, then a thin lasting citrusy finish. A solid citrus ipa, but just use more hops for grapefruit.
3.6had just a small sample, i’m not allowed grapefruit, my testicles swell up to the size of ....grapefruits . . .. pours a ruby gold .. solid foam .. . medium grapefruit, hay, and medium bitterness .. . mild mouth and a decent finish .. . quite a nice beer, everything seemed in place .. . . having your fingers called sausages is actually a compliment, lady!
3.22/13/15. 12oz bottle from Five Points. Orange pour with a small khaki head. Grapefruit and citrus in the aroma, a bit of caramel, husky graininess. Definite grapefruit in the flavor, a little sweet and bitter, caramel, doughy pale malts, a lingering metallic aspect and grapefruit bitterness. Interesting, not bad.
3.712 oz bottle:Aroma has got a nice hop note with just a little bit of the grapefruit rind intermingled. Appearance is a slightly cloudy golden orange with a thick white head that diminishes slowly. Taste is juicy hop upfront with a tangy grapefruit in the backing. Palate has medium to high carbonation with a lingering grapefruit note. Overall, Enjoyable and delightful. Cheers!
3.8Bottle:
Pours hazy yellow0gold with a tight, off-ehite head.
Sweet, sugared, pink grapefruit aroma...
Flavour is the same pink grapefruit.....tangerine/orange malt....
Tingly, citric acidity...very slight peel-bittering.
Really bright and enjoyable....
This one strikes me as a beer that would really hit the spot on a slightly rough morning-after.
3.8BBD 4/19/15. Pours a clear light amber. Outstanding head volume and retention, World Class lacing.
Outstanding nose of sweet pink grapefruit, with notes of mango, over biscuit.
Medium bodied with a bit of oily texture. Slightly above normal carbonation with a bit of effervescence in the middle and a nice burst in the finish.
The flavor profile is very good, but a bit disappointing based on the outstanding aroma. It is reasonably intense, complex and wonderfully balanced. The grapefruit is presented in a laid back fashion and never dominates. It begins with sweet grapefruit coupled with a tropical hop flavor over a balancing biscuit sweetness. The middle is a subtle bitterness of rind and hops. The finish is a slow fade of the previous flavors culminating in a very slight pucker of grapefruit rind.
3.7Interesting.
Immediately upon opening the bottle, grapefruit flooded my nostrils.
No head at first, but wait for it, there it is. It laces around the glass when you give it a twirl.
It smells like grapefruit, a lot. Very crisp. I couldn’t wait to start drinking it.
It has an orangey, copper color to it. It’s sort of hazy, and I like that. It screams of flavor before you even drink it.
Eh, the taste however falls flat a bit. This is not an IPA. It is good, but not what I expected. After a few sips, it gets better. It’s bitter, but I think because of the grapefruit flavor, and not the hops. It’s not an IPA.
Mouthfeel is nice. Carbonated bitterness. I swish it around my mouth, and it foams a little in my mouth. Fun! Bitterness in the finish. It is clean and fresh. I keep telling myself it’s not an IPA, although, I’m starting to doubt myself.
Overall, it’s good. I find myself enjoying it more than I thought I would.
3.3Bottle.
Hazy golden with a small white head.
Citrus, ruby grapefruit aroma. Nice.
Oh an IPA with legit grapefruit flavor. Tasty.
3.0Aroma is grapefruit/citrus and perfumed fruit. The flavor is grapefruit/grapefruit soda, citrus, malts and a dry/slight heat in the finish.
2.7Bottle - hazy yellow with a choppy head and lacing. Has a faint hop aroma and a light grapefruit peel taste but that’s about it. Fairly thin.
3.1Honey gold color with a white, frothy head and lots of frothy lace. Grapefruit and perfume in the nose is easily detected, but not all in your face. Light on the palate. Tastes of grapefruit, pale grains and some citrus, but overall it seems thin. Enjoyable, but not hoppy enough to reach harvest or ipa status imo.
3.5On draft at Stone House Inn. Poured hazy gold with splotches of white lace. Flavor of grapefruit, orange, grass, pine. Medium bodied. Average.
3.6Pours from 12 oz bottle a lightly hazed, deep yellow body with an inch of dissipating, white foam. Aroma is definitely grapefruit with a decent malty backbone. Flavour of grapefruit upfront, lots of citrus fruits following, some spice, sweet malt balance and minor lingering bitterness. Decent.
3.5Really enjoyed this beer. Aroma and taste were both dominated by grapefruit and not much else. I would probably classify this beer as a fruit beer because the hop and malt profile are very weak and barely break through the delicious juicy grapefruit. While not a good IPA this is a delicious and tart grapefruit beer.
3.112 oz bottle. Vibrant grapefruit aroma dominates the nose. Weird beer. A weak hop profile is enhanced by the addition of grapefruit. Refreshing and unique. Only for grapefruit lovers.
3.3i really like this one. very acidic and grapefruit flavored beer. you really dont taste the amlt or hopps in this one. very close to a radler. had a bottle pour at home. pours yellow with a white head.
