The newest Abita brew takes its name and inspiration from the Mardi Gras Indians of New Orleans. Looking for Indians on Mardi Gras Day is a tradition for many New Orleans families. A cultural phenomenon familiar to residents of the Crescent City, the Mardi Gras Indians are not well known to outsiders and Abita is proud to help share their story with the world.

3.7355mL bottles. Pours a clear copper hie with a thick one finger white head. Nice sweet caramel and grapefruit notes on the nose with the addition of resinous pine in the flavour. I enjoyed this beer..
2.7On tap at Marigny in NOLA. Truly not a good IPA. A bit of pine and bready malt in the nose; nothing remarkable. Taste is pretty bland - hop profile is weak. Bready malt overpowers. Medium thin body. Blah. I didn’t enjoy.
3.9Good strong flavored ipa, has much more flavors in this beer than just hops, I think they use swamp water in here, but I like it!
3.112oz bottle. Poured a clear orange color with a small white head. Aroma was light sweet malts, touch of toasted malts. Flavor was light fruity notes, malts. Okay.
2.2This is truly awful. Pure malt bomb, overly sweet, what in the world? Why even put this out in the current beer market?
2.1Pours a light amber-orange. Has a malty aroma with citrua. Taste is very malty with fruits and caramel and some light citrus hops. Lingering malty taste.
2.8Amber pour from a 12oz glass. Slight white head. Malty nose. Malty taste with a slight hop character and bitter finish. A mild IPA.
3.1355ml bottle. Minimally cloudy, orangey golden colour with average, thick, fluffy, half-way lasting, fairly lacing, white head. Biscuity, nuttily, malty aroma, citrusy, floral, hoppy overtones. a touch of resin and orange. Taste is minimally sweet caramel malty, dry hoppy overtones, hints of orange. Anaemic IPA overall.
3.7Bottle from Archive Beer Boutique 100415. While this is only my 7th beer from Abita Brewing Company it is one of the best, only behind Turbodog. Poured with a very deep yet even layer of foam and a vibrant orange colour. Aromas exude pine needles and fresh picked citrus. In the mouth the beer is full bodied with the flavours hitting all parts of the mouth and staying around long after the beer has gone. Good balance of hops and malt , not too hoppy. Big thick finish with a slight sweet stickiness and no bitterness.
3.4Twelve ounce bottle from Abita variety 12 pack bought at Jeff’s Marathon, tasted on April 3, 2015. Cloudy amber color, pleasant aroma with citrus and tropical fruit dominating, well integrated flavors with prominent tropical fruit character. Hops presence could be bigger but this is still a good beer.
3.4From a 355ml bottle on 3/4/2015. Pours a very dark golden with a small to medium head. The aroma is a balance of caramel malt and fruity hops. Flavour wise, it’s more on the malty side, with carmel and toffee notes prominent, though there’s a bit of citrus fruit sweetness in the background. The bitterness is moderate and lacks the usual grapefruit/resin character typical of US style IPAs. Medium bodied and average carbonation. Okay but mediocre for the style.
2.0Bottle, bb 11/15. Amber with an inch of white head that lasts well. Aroma of bitter oranges, caramel, diesel, pine, some odd notes that are kind of like the meaty end of tropical fruits. Sweet with toffee, some more of those fetid fruit notes, pine, Moderate bitterness struggles to get through the sweetness. Not good.
2.0Got in bottle. Stink of a hop note. More caramel than a flower scent. Also more caramel then hop bitterness. Not as easy drinking as previous Abita beers I’ve had. May be more appealing on tap. Had high hopes but let down in the end.
3.3Bottle at Napoleon’s House (New Orleans). Pours clear orange with thick frothy head and some lacing. Aroma: hops, tropical fruits, pine. Taste is resinous and a bit woody. Mild bitterness. Flat finish. Dry aftertaste. Refreshing. Good IPA, nothing spectacular.
3.2Amber pour, white head. Nose is pine. Bitter. Middle is sweet malt and and a hint of metal. Finish is bitter, and the alcohol shows a little. For me, a little unbalanced.
3.3Darker colored IPA, but very smooth. Had the Southern. Not overly bold flavor but enjoyed it...
3.212oz into a glass. Pours a trust c orange amber. Head is marvelous. Frontal cream based concoctions, 4cm, white beauty. Lacing is all over. Aroma of orange fields, malty sides, the a hop whiff. Taste: metallic hop gardens, malts galore, amber ambivalence, slight hop makeover, eh, OK. But the fluid hop push is there. Nice hop bitter bite to the end. But could be pushed...,......
3.0это пиво очень вкусно. я бы, конечно, рекомендую его всем. пожалуйста, обратитесь его. очень хорошо!
2.7Bottle from ABC. Pours an almost reddish brown with a medium white head and some strong lacing with some visible particles as well. Aroma is typical IPA fare - earth, floral, pine, and a nice malt balance. Taste is pretty sweet throughout and short on the finish; the malt comes through more than anything. Pretty dry going down and underwhelming on the whole, but not too bad for what it is. Acquire.
3.7This is a very agreeable slamming beer. There is just enough spice and hops to qualify as an IPA, but with no overwhelming flavor added (like pine) to try to make it more than it is. Sometimes you just want to drink beer, have a good time, and not analyze the process, nor micro manage the experience. When that day comes, buy a bunch of this and tear it up.
3.4I light this out of the tap and in a plastic cup, mostly while standing on the deck of the Natchez while steaming down (or maybe it's up?) the Mississippi. Sometimes, I drink things just for the memories. It tastes pretty good, too: a little caramel, a little earth, a little (too) thin. Not bad at all.
3.2Pretty decent cask at iron horse. Nice citra aroma but a bit too earthy for my tastes. I give this beer 1.2 thumbs up.
3.66/X/14 - 12Fl. Oz. bottle @ home - BB: n/a (2014-1187) Thanks to Tinus for sharing the bottle!
Clear red amber beer, creamy beige head, stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: very fruity, sweet, caramel, malts, honey, bit oxidized, sweet, some raisins. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet, very malty, caramel, nice bitterness, fruity, honey, caramel, sweet, bit hoppy.
2.812 oz. bottle from Cash Wise in Watford City. Appearance: finger copper head, copper color, clear, ok lacing. Aroma: heavy caramel, grass hops. Palate: medium-light body, average carbonation, bitter finish, sticky and also slightly thin texture. Taste: heavy caramel sweetness, into light grassy hops that grows and becomes more bitter. Overall, nothing special, thinness is off, and transition form sweet to bitter is not smooth.
3.2Bottle; I guess Abita and I agree that all beer should have some malt flavor. I like this IPA probably because it’s maltier than most IPAs. Unlike the amber though, I tire of this flavor more quickly.
2.9355 ml bottle. Hazy copper with white head. Smell is hoppy pine, grapefruit and floral. Taste is very bitter with heavy grapefruit and pine. Too bitter with low carbonation.
2.6Pale copper, big foam. Nose is caramel, grassy. Taste is caramel, ripe fruits, grassy, citric. Nothing special.
3.5Clear amber colour, white head. Aroma of hops, honey, malts and apricot. Bitter flavour, apricot, honey, light sweet. Bitter finish, light sweet, apricot. Not bad, feels a bit old but still quite a nice drink.
(From 35.5cL bottle shared @ the ’tick countries & enjoy some good beers’ tasting, Gent)
3.3Bella scoperta questa IPA della abita. Arancio ambrato, splendida schiuma beige lunga e duratura. Buona bevuta.
2.9"really nothing to write about here. nothing stands out, good or bad, just an average ipa in just about every sense of the word...kinda what i’ve come to expect from abita."
