3.0 Mild spice, wheaty. Turbid medium straw/light honey color, no head. Wheat malt flavor, cereal note. Not assertively spiced. a slight tartness.
2.9 Pours hazy yellow with a large white head. Wheat and lemon scent. Taste is slightly sour and acidic lemon, wheat malt. OK....but slightly bland.
3.3 Bottle from vvv. This is a pale yellow, hazy beer with lemon, vanilla and satsuma flavours and a sweet, very dry creamy finish.
3.4 From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. The pour is a cloudy pale yellow with a quick white head that dissolves. The aroma has the typical wit characteristics with toasted pale malts, citrus zing, and mellow hops. The body is light and refreshing. The taste has the same biscuit malt character as the nose with less citrus in the flavor but a bit more sweetness. Great for a summer day.
3.0 Cloudy straw yellow pour with a white creamy head. Aroma of wheat, lemon, orange, and spice. Citrus flavor with orange and lemon with wheat and touch of spice. Creamy body, Decent summer beer.
3.2 Pours dirty, hazy gold with a transient white head. Aroma is light fruit. Med body. Flavor is citrus and spice. Maybe coriander. Maybe plum skin. I think the barley really helps this beer out. A bit short on plum but ok, especially on a hot day.
3.9 Lawnmower beer. Hazy yellow with white head. Aroma is light orange peel. Taste is light sweet citrus.
3.2 Bottle from Bert’s picked up on a whim. Pours a light straw with a tinge of orange to it and a smallish although long lasting creamy white head. The aroma is light citrus orange and grapefruit come to mind with a spicy wheat berry thig going on and a huge yeasty presence. The flavor is light and bready with lots of wheat that is countered by the spice and citrus flavors. The finish is rather dry with a lingering spice rack. Light body with a moderate level of carbonation and a slick almost watery mouthfeel. This one was ok, but a bit thin and uninteresting.
3.6 Appearance: opaque cloudy yellow golden color, nice dense head that lasts long, white foamy head Aroma: light, citrus, orangey smell Taste. Citrus, wheat Palette: light body, very little bitterness Overall: this is a refreshing beer that would be great on a hot day
3.4 Appearance: very hazy yellow, thick white head Aroma: wheat, coriander, bread, yeast Taste: bread, hints of orange, wheat, yeast, Palate: soft initial carbonation, frothy, not much of an aftertaste Overall: pleasant surprise, I did not think this beer would be as good as it is, very easy drinking perfect for summer
3.0 Bottle. Poured a golden color with a white head. Grains, citrus, spices, and some lighter fruitiness.
3.4 This had a nice wheat character that was well balanced by a slight hop citrus flavor.
3.1 Bottle. Pours a hazy golden color with a ultra small white head. Aroma was light & fruity with wheat, yeast and citrus. Flavor of wheat, citrus, coriander, orange and had a crisp clean finish.
2.5 Aroma is bland, appearance is average, taste is borderline offensive, and the palate is light and almost drinkable for the summer. The "sweet and subtle citrus" flavor doesn’t work for me at all. It makes a light and unmemorable brew stand out in a bad way. The finish kills this beer!
3.0 Poured a hazy pale yellow with a thin white head. Aroma is citrus, grass, and cantaloupe. Taste is a pleasant sweat and sour with a little bit of tang, almost like a persimmon. It’s ok.
2.3 12 oz bottle served in a pint glass. Even with brown glass I could see plenty of sediment in the bottom of this bottle. Not being adverse to this I gave it a little swirl then poured all but the last bit into my glass. This produced a nice thick head (keeping the appearance rating from hitting 1), but with all sorts of unappetizing whitish particles floating about. I then poured this thru a strainer into another glass, and ended up with something that looked palatable, with a light yellow gold hazy liquid crowned with a generous head. The aroma of a fruity, spicy and yeasty witbier matches the flavor. Neither is very robust. It does taste better than it smells, and there are no serious flaws in the flavor. The finish and aftertaste are the best aspects, being nicely fruity (mainly orange) and modestly wheaty. The mouthfeel is light and bit watery, even for this style. Despite the indication provided by the ample head, I felt this could use more carbonation. This is a drinkable and somewhat refreshing ale, but not a beer I’ll seek out the future.
2.8 Bottle. Almost no aroma aside from copper pipe.Miniscule white head lingers over murky pale gold liquid. Tastes doughy, faint hint of something citrus - label says "satsuma" whatever the hell that is. Creamy mouthfeel yet bitey. This isn’t great but it could be much worse.
2.3 12 Oz. Bottle, Poured a cloudy golden color with little white head. Citrus and Floral aroma. Taste is sour, some orange a bit of wheat, crisp carbonation and quite refreshing, but not a huge fan.
2.7 Bottle. Poured pale gold with a medium-sized white head. Aroma and flavor of wheat, lemon and orange, some mild spice. Low bitterness, a faint tartness. Crisp carbonation. Refreshing.
1.6 Kinda sour/kinda nasty taste...bitter with lingering aftertaste...no redeeming qualities
2.2 Cloudy yellow pour. Very orangey and citrusy. Some grassy flavors too. Strange aftertaste - like sour lemon at the end. Not a huge fan, though it was very sessionable. I guess just slightly better than a big name wheat.
3.1 12 ounce bottle. Hazy pale golden color. Large mousse-like white head. Fragrant lemony wheat malt aroma. Soft citrusy malt flavor hints of lemon peel. Remiscent of Belgian witbier. Bittersweet finish. Refreshing, but unassuming.
2.1 Best thing about this beer is the aroma, which is inviting with its orange/wheat. Aftertaste is a bit bleh. Not that good of a beer unfortunately.
3.3 Appearance: hazy orange with a thick, creamy white head slowly shrinking to a fat cap. Aroma: spicy, with bitter orange peel, toasted spices, and cream of wheat. Taste: pretty bitter, with notes of wheat, citrus, some coriander, and yeast. Finish: sharp, tingly and a little dry, with some lemony bitterness lingering. Notes: Refreshing palate, with zingy, bitter flavors. Not my favorite wit, but it’s trying. Had to google ’Satsuma’. That’s sad.
3.0 13.08.2012. Riviera hotel South Beach, Miami, FL. Golden white head. Orange aroma. Notes of citrus and floral summer hops. Refrishing and very easy drinkable beer.
3.2 Nose of satsuma wheat a little fruity yeast. Pours hazy golden nice lasting fizzy head. Flavors of satsuma light toast wheat a little fruity sweetness light yeast notes. Lingering dry sweetness. Well carbonated.
3.0 Draft at Tattooed Mom. Pale yellow with a touch of green. Slim white head. Strong taste of the Satsuma fruit - like a lemony tangerine. Light toasted wheat flavors. Hay. Green banana. Fizzy on the tongue. Nice, but feels like a dry soda pop.
2.9 12oz bottle into a pint glass. Pours a hazy straw yellow with a thick 1.5 finger head. Plenty of carbonation keeps the head firmly in place. Coriander and orange peel are huge in the aroma. A tiny amount of lemon and bubblegum sneak in there as well. The flavor is definitely spicy, more so than with a typical wit. Kind of a sharp citrus twang from the oranges that balances nicely with the increased spicyness. A little sour lemon and bubblegum in the distant background leading to a slightly sticky finish. Overall, there is no doubt that this is a very refreshing beer but the overall flavor just doesn’t really do it for me. I don’t care too much for the citrus twang and the aftertaste is a little off-putting. Probably won’t pick up again.
2.4 At least I can swallow it, one bottle that is. Glad I only got this in a pick-6.
2.2 Draft sampled at St Stephens with Pat. Pours a light golden yellow body with white lacing. Aroma is spice, sweet sugar, light fruit and wheat. Mouthfeel is thin with notes of bitter spice, banana, light fruit, and grain. No thanks.
