3.2 Bottle, 5.6%. Clear dark brown with small tan head. Aroma is malt, caramel, toasted and nut. Flavour is malt, caramel, toasted, toasted, sweet, hop, little nut and a little bitter.
3.5 Bottle. Chestnut brown with a medium sized tan head with fine retention, lace and regeneration. Nuts, dark dried fruits, light coffee, brown bread, malt. Light to medium body, mild to medium finish. Mild dry malty finish.
2.9 Copenhagen 9/4 2019. 35,5 cl bottle from Meny, Bryggervangen, Kbh Ø. Drawing of a very eager and slobbering dog with the tongue hanging out it’s jaws on the label. Pours clear very dark brown with small off-white head. Settles as thin layer of foam just able to cover the surface of the beer. No Lacing. Aroma sweetish, salty and lightly metallic. Caramel, toffee, sea weed, salt and metal. Got a light roasted odor as the beer warms up. Medium carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, lightly tingling texture. Flavor is medium sweet followed by a moderate bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet and lingers shortly. Decent fairly well balanced brown ale. Without being very exciting.
3.0 Aroma: Sweet roasted malt with caramel. Flavour: Malty sweet with caramel and roasted malt. Aftertaste is malty sweet. Colour: Brown with an offwhite head.
3.1 Bottle from Boxbeers. Clear brown with a beige head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel and light toffee. Flavor is quite sweet and light bitter. Sweet and light bitter finish. 060419
3.3 Draught at Skaal. Clear ruby coloured with a small beige head. Fruity aroma of caramel, chocolate and hops. Fruity flavour of hay, caramel and chocolate. Fruity finish.
3.1 Pours a heavily carbonated reddish brown with a persistent coke-like head. Aroma of brown ale malt. Taste is sweet and malty, with a distinct herbal note. The palate continues this note, extending it to the nose and blending in earthy malt notes. Good brown.
2.9 Can't believe that I haven't had this until now. I kind of knew what to expect, so maybe the reason why. Just an average brown really. Like other Abitas, has a slight rusty/sour taste. Feel is just ehh. That chocolate malt comes in mildly, which is the highlight here. The single sample is enough for me, as it's not good enough to get a 6-pack.
3.8 Draft. Brown in color with an off-white head. The aroma is malty with notes of toffee and chocolate. It is mildly sweet. Very nice.
4.1 Beautiful color and a fast dying foam, dark chocolate, and coffee notes. Fairly heavy and better as a dessert beer.
3.1 Flaska importerad av Jonas. Brun vätska. Doft och smak av rostad malt och lite kryddor. Något tunn kropp
3.1 Flaska, privatimport från USA. Brunröd med beige skum. Rostad smak och doft.
3.0 Pours dark mahogany with a three finger, light tan head. Aroma is heavy roast and a hint of coffee. Taste is light brown sugar, moving to strong roast. Finish carries the roast. An OK brown ale.
3.1 Bottle at The Spotted Cat, New Orleans. Aroma is darkish malt with caramel, toffee, touch of cocoa, and a hint of fruits from the hops. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet and light bitter. Body is medium. Nothing special but not a bad Brown.
3.0 Pours dark brown with reddish glow. Head is two fingers of beige foam, which does not stay long. Scent is roasted malts, toffee, caramel, and cocoa. Taste is chocolate, malt, toffee, and a tangy-ness that I can’t put my finger on. Beer definitely deteriorated as it warmed (more than most).
3.3 I don't normally like brown ales, I don't dislike them either, but. I like the malty favor of this nicely balanced beer. Have had this in New Orlean and at the Washington House on tap.
3.3 Draft pours a nice deep chestnut with a lasting khaki head. Aroma is subtle, nice, toffee, cocoa. Flavor is medium sweet, toffee and nut malt base, touch of bitter. Medium light feel, crisp, fairly lively feel. Not exciting, but clean and drinkable in the Nawlins heat.
3.3 355ml bottle into shaker. Pours murky brown with an enormous frothy head. Nose is dark caramel toffee. Medium bodied, smooth texture. Flavour starts sweet then has a lingering bitterness in the finish. Interesting brown ale. Much higher ABV than some English brown ales but just as easy drinking.
3.2 Sample at SBWF 2017. Brownish with a small head. Aroma of light roasted malt, bread, chocolate and some caramel. Similar taste. The body was medium.
3.7 On tap at DomCraft. Clear reddish-brown with beige head. Aroma and taste are bready malts, toast, bordering toffee notes, faint chocolate, faint roasted notes, light chocolate. Good!
3.3 Nice dark brown appearance good cream head. Malty toffee aroma Initial bitter burnt flavour turning sweet. Not bad
2.9 Bottle - pours ruby with an off white head. Aroma is molasses, burnt sugar and cereal malt. Taste is sufary malt with a bit if dry roast taste in the finish.
3.3 Middle of the road brown. Molasses, chocolate, caramel, touch of coffee. Tad thin and minerally. Decent enough.
3.6 *Bottle from Schneiders Getränke, Köln. Dark malts, molasses, still refreshing. Nice brown Ale with hints of roasted hazelnuts, round malts and a nice but smooth bitter hoppy ending. Easy to drink, deep with a full malty fruity roasted body, nice.
2.9 Poured from bottle into pint glass. Very dark brown. Chocolate and coffee are the primary flavors you get from this, as expected. Solid brown, but nothing amazing.
3.2 Bottle. Pours dark brown. Aroma is strong milky chocolate and toffee, chocolate sauce. Body is rather light and thin, with a strong carbonation and almost no flavours anymore. Disappointing!
3.4 From tap at ADT. Clear reddish-brown with a froth beige head. Nose is heavy malt with hints of chocolate. Flavors are lightly roasted malt and milk chocolate, with some bread notes. Smooth texture. Semi-sweet chocolate finish.
4.0 Draft from LGA airport. Brown body, not much head. Light, but still very full and crisp. Enjoyed!
2.6 12floz bottle, $1.50 unit price, BBD: 08.13.2017. Poured in a rinsed nonic glass. It’s brown with bright red hues and a solid head. The appearance is good, the aroma is what I remember from a decade ago, molasses and dry dog food. Tastes better than it it smells. A roasty, toffee brown ale heavy on the malts, but flat on the palate. So-so for a brown ale, good enough is not always enough.
3.5 Bottle from Lupe Pinto. Appearance - black olive sheen. Lovely off white head. Nose - honeycomb and chocolate. A dark chocolate Crunchie bar. Taste - caramel and chocolate with a biscuit back drop. Dry malty finish. Palate - close to medium bodied with a crunchy texture. Dry finish. Overall - decent.
