Unlike traditional German wheat beers produced by other breweries, Abita Wheat is a lager, not an ale, contains a generous amount of wheat and, therefore, has a clean, simple flavor. Available from June to September.

1.5Wow this is really not a very good beet. Sulfury wheaty nose , some dust and hay. Hint of lemon. flavor similar but very light almost bland. Golden color, a bit hazy, modest lacing. Weird chemical after taste.
1.8Refrigerated bottle poured into a weizen glass. Pours clear light golden with small white head. Little lacing, light body, and little carbonation. Taste is light malt, a little metallic and hint of hops. Really boring.
2.412oz bottle. Clear yellow color, thin white head fading to minimal. Since it’s called "Wheat", I figured it would be a wheat ale, but after one sip this is obviously a lager. Light lemon-citrus wheat aroma. Mild zesty sweetness. Carbonation bordering on strong, but not too much so, it’s still crisp enough. Nice light body, drinkable. A higher-quality lager, but still a boring one.
2.2comes across much like a german helles, but with a bit of discernible wheat character. the minerality and hop profile are a bit rough, and there really isn’t anything to love about this
2.5Whoa! Definitely not what I was expecting! This one was thin, watery, bland … heck a Coors Light has more to offer than this brew! Here are the particulars… Aromas of malts, grains and zest of citrussy fruits. Flavors are very bland and ‘wheaty’/grainy but lacking in substance in my opinion. Light-bodied, very carbonated, and way too easy to quaff. Honestly blogging, there are better options in this brew style out there!!
2.8Bottle. Pours a fairly light golden yellow with a somewhat foamy head that doesn’t hang around very long. Pretty mild aroma and flavor when compared to most wheat beers. The mouthfeel is rather thin as well. I’ll skip this one in the future.
2.4It poured a pale yellow color with a foamy white head. The aroma was detergent and corn. The taste was grassy lemon with slight hints of hops.
0.9This is a very watery beer. A big part of the problem is the spring water which has no minerals to capture flavors of malt, barley, and hops. Very weak and slightly better than Olympia or coors
2.1its an interesting idea to make a wheat lager, but it sadly this is so watery and thin it might as well be just a regular lager. it has none of the bite and is too sweet on the palette. i love wheat beers but this one is pretty far down the list.
2.5Pours golden yellow yet fails to produce the large white head I associated with a wheat beer. The aroma is way off base, reminding me of a Budweiser. The skunky corn smell is cringe worthy. Abita’s gotta really step up their game in the flavor. Drum roll........ bust! This is a boring lager under the disguise of a refreshing Summer Wheat. Usually when I do not get what I expect I begin to inspect the back label for an indication as to what the brewer was attempting to accomplish. Ah ha, this is a wheat lager, as opposed to the ever delicious unfiltered wheat ale I expected. A filtered lager with a pinch of wheat results in a Bud clone. I guess my bad for the misinterpretation and higher expectations. I would get into the flavor, but it’s much easier to just picture any mass produced dive bar lager.
2.6Clear light [piss color/ white head. Bready, pale malt, salty celery aromas. medium bodied. White bread, salt, pale wheat, vegetal flavors--
2.924 Nov 2009, bottle. not a convincing wheat. smells and tastes like a lager. fizzy as well. it’s bizarre that they call this a wheat beer. as a lager it is fine. not as sweet as "bud heavy" but very similar flavour.
2.3Given to me by a friend, meh. The beer pours out golden. Little to no aroma to speak of, some corny flavors with maybe a touch of lemon if I try hard. Taste is more "full bodied" than expected but still comes across watery, more musty corn and bland citrus. Who am I kidding Abita is all pretty much like this.
2.012 oz. bottle from Chuck’s. I suppose there is some wheat in here, but since it is a lager as opposed to an ale, it really just tastes like Bud Light. Had I known, I would not have even bothered. Glad I only got a single bottle. Rather pale yellow and smells kind of stale. Bleh.
2.4Pours hazy pale gold with thin white head and some lacing. Notes of wheat and mild lemon. Weak taste with a slightly bitter tang. Thin on the palate.
1.6Light yellow pour. White head. Chalky, dusty, carboard, skunk aroma. Watery as hell, light spice, light bitterness. Not such a great one.
2.4Bottle. Beer of the month club. Slightly hazy golden with a big white head. Aroma of citrus and some cereals graininess. Sweetish fruity flavor with some wheat, citrus, graininess, bread and a drier, lightly bitter finish. Rather light-bodied. Drinkable.
2.2Bottle served in a taster. Clear pale yellow in color and the head fizzes away on the pour, leaving no lacing. Nose has corn, wheat malty sweetness. Mildly sweet flavor. Light-medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. The finish is short and dry. The beer is sessionable, but simple.
2.0Pours a pale cloudy to clear with a small diminishing head, aroma of weak wheat and cereals, flavor of cereals, malt, corn and metal, light body.
2.810/28/10. 12oz bottle courtesy Cavie. Slightly hazy yellow/orange pour with a fizzy white head that’s gone fast. Faint citrus aroma with a hint of wheat but what smells mostly like grainy pilsner malts and lager yeast. Surprisingly burnt, malty flavor with hints of lemon peel and quite watery.
2.00.33L bottle, small stable head, a little deep gold clear colour, light aroma of wheat with a hint of mushroom, flavour of wheat and citrus with a light but persistent bitterness, extremely dry. Dull and boring.
2.2Light caramel malt sweetness with slight grassy hop and wheat aroma. Straw-gold, clear, no retention. Tastes like it smells...nothing special...like they say in the description...simple. Medium-light body and bitterness. Lively carbonation, lightly dry and short finish, decent balance. Somewhat creamy texture from wheat. Easy drinker that is fairly refreshing but nothing really shines. I’d drink it again if it was offered to me but I wouldn’t seek it out.
1.812 ounce. Kind of tasteless. Little wheat flavor. Not something I would drink again. Symbolic of my overall feelings for New Orleans.
1.7Serving: 12 oz. bottle from a local store in Hatteras. Hmmm... a wheat brewed with a lager yeast. This should be interesting.
Aroma: The nose is skunked, but in an odd way. Honestly it smells reminiscent of crap. There is a little grass in the background. I am not sure I should drink this. But I’m gonna do it anyway.
Appearance: It pours a light gold color with just a touch of haze and a small foamy, white head.
Taste: Strangely it is a cross between a lager and a wheat with the slight crispness of a lager and a touch of wheat. Unfortunately what taste is there is fleeting. There is a hint of hops and grain, but not much else. Soda water.
Palate: Light in body with an above average amount of slightly softer than average carbonation leading to a clean, watery finish.
Overall: I am not sure what the aim here was, but they seemed to combine a slight lager flavor mixed with a slight wheat flavor and added 60% water to the mix. Disappointing. Skip this brew.
3.012 oz. bottle- Pours somewhat cloudy, but pretty clear for a wheat beer with a thin yet attractive head, aroma is wheat and straw or grass. The flavor is crisp, light, and refreshing, I could chug this. As a session beer, this is perfect, but as a reviewed craft brew, its a bit lacking. Put this up against any German wheat beer or hefe and this beer would taste like Coors light. But this is better than most the reviews on this website give it, its just a bit simplistic.
2.0A almost clear yellow body with a quickly fading white head. Aroma had mild wheat notes to it Flavor was mild some wheat notes, but really nothing definitive. Carbonation was moderate. A clean crisp finish.
2.3Poured light golden with a continental drift type head. Scents of straw and summer scorched grass. Body is made of bread, yeast, and light in body.
3.8Abita Wheat has a medium, white head, which quickly dissipates, and a clear, golden appearance. Carbonation is low to moderate. The aroma is very bready, with a spicy hop note. I found the taste to be bready as well, but the hops were more bitter than I had expected. This beer has a lot of body. Mouth-feel is medium, and Abita Wheat finishes refreshing, mild, and light, but not dull. I liked this better than many wheat beers I have tried. I was pleasantly surprised, because I was not anticipating a particularly good beer.

2.5Light yellow and hazy. Tart, grassy aroma. Slight tart and citrus type taste of wheat beer with plenty of carbonation. Decent, but the taste is a bit too "clean" and I’d like something more going on.
2.0Very thin head, golden color, mostly clear. Initially, aroma had hints of lemon, but this turned a little skunky. Finish is not clean and lingers with some unpleasantness. Not recommended.
