Acme California IPA

Acme California IPA

Acme IPA is profoundly hoppy, finished with over a pound of fresh whole hops per barrel. The result of this generous hopping is a beer that is deliciously dry, and eminently drinkable in spite of its apparent strength.

3.3 12 fl oz bottle from Hippo Beers. 6.9%. Orange gold amber colour, foamy white head leaving lacing and aroma of fruity citrus, hoppy. Taste is pale malt, grain, with some citric hop and metallic bitterness. Light to medium bodied, soft to medium carbonation, dry grainy earthy bitter finish. Quite OK.
3.7 Bottle from Terre de Boissons Calais and drunk at home. Hazy gold amber colour, thin cream head. Some big hops with a slight toffee undertow. Hops are light grapefruit. Some bitterness on the finish. Decent enough IPA. Not too sweet. Good hops.
3.6 Classic East Coast IPA: hazy orange, medium white head, aroma of citrus. Taste is grapefruit, very hoppy. Medium-high bitterness, easy to drink, quite decent.
3.6 Bottle from Deeside Drinks Emporium. Clear body with lots of yeast flecks floating around. Thin white head. Steady carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of musty orange and peppery earth. Flavour of orange and pine. Medium body with an oily mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Better than some of the previous reviews suggest.
3.6 Craft & Draft. Rogge, havermoutig en ook superzacht. Backlog from 2015/10/31.
3.3 Bottle, Brewdog Leicester. Hazy golden with an off white head. Toasted pale malts with lemon rind. Yeasty with candy sugar, a bit of a Duvel character. Decent.
3.3 Aus der Flasche. Orange-goldenes Bier mit hellem Schaum. Blumiges Hopfenaroma mit Malznoten. Geschmack weniger fruchtig mehr getreidig.
3.0 At Craft & Draft. Aroma of bitters and nettle. Flavor of yeast, pine and sweet fruit. Like a Belgian beer. Not very good.
3.4 From tap. Light hazy golden orange color with white head. Malty an hoppy aroma, caramel, bready, citrusy fruity, grassy, pine. Sweet and bitter taste like aroma. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.
3.8 Poured from 12oz brown bottle into Spieglau IPA glass, clear golden with sudsy white foam, long-lasting with lace. If you occasionally crave an old school 1990s microbrew flagship IPA, this one still rocks your way (think Alimony Ale, Abita Jockamo, Anchor, Sierra Nevada, etc.) I still love this time-tested Cluster & Northern Brewer combo. Prototypical A-IPA aromas and flavours, sharp resiny bitterness, grapefruit, orange marmalade, lime leaves, grassy, weedy, minty, black pepper spice, dank, almost musky in a cool way. Some husky grainbill complexity underneath too, with hints of biscuit, caramel. Light body, strong carbonation, some alcoholic heat in the aroma but less in the flavour, nice round mouthfeel and long-lasting bittersweet aftertaste. Complex and classic. Recommended.
3.3 03-OCT-2015, bottle @home, from Fish & Beer. Hazy orange with lasting almost white head. Very piney and bitter. Fruity and a bitterness that is somewhat like the peel white. Orange is there. Bitterness a bit too much, some sweetness. OK IPA but nothing special.
3.4 Hazy dark golden color with a off white head. Floral, citric and mild resin in the aroma. Medium (+) body and an average carbonation. Tad sweet and a fine bitterness. Citric, toffee and some resin in the flavor. Decent tasty ale. [Bottle at People´s outside Sentrum Cene in Oslo (Norway) before a Whitesnake concert]
2.7 Clear golden body with a dense white head, copious lacing. Aromas of biscuit, malt, a hint of pine. Balance of malt / hops with moderate bitterness. Mediocre.
3.8 Tried at Kullens Bar&Kök in Alvik Stockholm, nice beer on tap. Overall good, nothing that stands out. Quite sweet whit fruity tones.
3.8 Bottle from Harvest Market, Bedford NH. Aroma is resinous hops over bready malts. Appearance is clear gold with three finger-width frothy white head with good retention, good lacing and excellent sparkle. Taste is interplay of light sweet malt with mild bitter. Palate is medium bodied with thick texture, average carbonation and dry balanced sweet/bitter finish. Overall, a beer with surprising balance given its hoppy description.
3.8 Poured from the bottle of a six pack, amber with orange hue with a nice white collar. Nice easy drinking IPA, and I like the old school looking pin up labeling. I liked this beer but I was expecting a bit more from the company that brought us such great inventions as the "do-it yourself tornado kit", "jet propelled pogo stick" and everyone’s favorite made popular by acme: "the anvil". If the acme name is to go on a beer it should be comparable to products like "rocket powered roller skates", and needs to be 8%.
4.5 Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass Aroma- Has a nice malt and fruit aroma Appearance- Pours a murky golden amber with a nice off-white head Taste- Hops come through nicely, with some malt as a backup. very flavorful Palate- A medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation. This beer has a crisp finish. Overall- A really enjoyable beer, I will drink this again.
2.9 Very faint aroma of hops, and some pine. Deep yellow orange color with a huge tan head. Sweet rich malt up front. Very sweet. Some hints of caramel. Bitterness is light at first, intensifies. Dry bitterness with not much character. Meh.
3.4 Bottle from Sake Taniguchi (World Beer Market). Very hoppy nose, with definite caramel backing and some fruitiness. Orange straw color. Caramel, small bites of resiny hops, and earthy maltiness, and grapefruit rind. Medium body. Moderate flavors. Nice, mid-strength IPA.
2.7 Esta iPA nao é tao aromatica, mas é um pouco forte e lupulada.nao chega a descer suave, mas é otima cia para embutidos.
3.0 Not great. Drinkable. The aroma is sort of citrusy and herbal with some basement aromas? Taste is grapefruit like with some definite minty qualities. Finish is nothing new... I like the vintage looking art.
3.7 12 oz. bottle. Pours a dark gold color with a slightly off-white head about 1/2" thick, leaving some nice lacing. Pleasant aroma of pine hops - not too strong but they’re there, almost like a dry hop. Medium body, the balance leans to the hops but there is some malt in the background. Finish is dry. Not bad.
Trevlig
3.7 Cerveja de amargor notável e palato aveludado. IPA americana na medida certa.
3.3 Keg at Junkyard, Nottingham, Friday 16th January 2015 Orange to warm gold with sticky white head, pretty good IPA, hoppy burps. Soft in mouth a little furry across tongue. Pretty good. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov13 3.3
2.9 Hazy golden pour with thin, clingy white head - looks great. Nose is floral and earthy, not to my liking. Flavor is some malt and not much bitterness for an IPA with same earthyness. Best part is the appearance, no need to drink.
3.6 3oz sample at Expo Cerveza Mexico 2014. A clear golden beer with a white foamy head. It has a floral aroma with grapefruit, citrics and orange zest. Taste is bitter with a strong finish. Some carbonation and a considerable amount of astringency. Aftertaste reminds me of peppermint.
