Adnams Broadside (Cask)

Adnams Broadside (Cask)

Adnams Broadside commemorates the fierce battle of Sole Bay fought against the Dutch Republic in 1672 off the Southwold coast, just across the green from our brewery. The fullness of the beer makes it a good accompaniment for stews and steak or kidney and ale pies. All sausage dishes complement Broadside well. A mature cheese ploughmans or cheeseboard of hard English cheeses are a perfect match for bottled Broadside. (Contains barley).

4.8 If you like a more normal traditional malty bitter taste then this is for you. No citrus, no overwhelming hoppiness, not for golden ale drinkers but for those with a deeper discerning palate - EXCELLENT!

3.3 Been a while since I had the pleasure. All the beauty of a Broadside but with that chewy cask thickness. Not as strong tasting as the bottled variety, but possibly this is down to the smoothness. Really great stuff. What can I say? You should try this if you see it. Biscuity but with a stunning alcoholic bite.

3.0 On tap at the Wharf. More or less clear in the glass, dark chestnut colored, with some bubbles on top. Nutty, dried fruits aroma with some toffee and oatmeal biscuits. There’s some sweetness on the palate, but it’s mostly on the dry side, with a nice carbonation level. Medium body fullness. Toffee, bread, dried fruits and some nuts in the flavor, with a faint piney touch. Long finish with a good bitterness. Too malty on the nose this one, but sure decent anyway. 160622
