Adnams Ghost Ship (Cask)

Adnams Ghost Ship (Cask)

Ghost Ship is a ghostly pale ale which takes its inspiration from Adnams 600-year-old haunted pub, The Bell. Brewed with a selection of malts - Pale Ale, Rye Crystal and Cara. We use Citra, and a blend of other American hop varieties to create some great citrus flavours. Bronze Medal Winner at The International Brewing Awards 2013 and Silver Medal winner at the 2014 International Beer Challenge (Contains barley & rye). Available (pasteurised) in 500ml bottles and 440ml cans.

2.5 Orange color, middle foam size. Good balanced beer. Drinkable and fits into style.
3.5 Clear amber, lasting creamy white head. Aroma is fruity, and taste well balanced beginning sweet and ending bitter. Enjoyable.
3.3 Casi. Tap Room, Swan Hotel, Southwold. Adnams classic pale ale Thin white head, subtle hop and fruit flavours leading to a lovely balanced taste
3.5 Tap. Pours slightly hazy with small white head. Malts, citrus, nice hop bitterness. Medium body and average carbonation.
3.4 Cask at Dabbling Duck, Gt. Massingham, Norfolk. Honey gold with bright white head - lacing down the glass. Sweeter than bottle version, and better for it. Citrus is there but fairly subdued, lowish carbonation, malty bitter orange in there too. Lovely.
3.4 Stratton Hotel Biggleswade. Pours a gold colour with a tight white head, plenty of fruit especially citrus fruits, the taste is medium bitterness and malty with a dry bitter finish.
4.5 Clear golden cask ale; white head; grapefruit citrus aroma; smooth delicious bitter citrusy pale ale with a hint of barley rye malty backbone. Absolutely delicious. I love this beer.

3.6 On cask The Gregorian, Bermondsey. What a great beer to go with Fish&Chips. A classic pale ale, amber golden. Very thin caskish head. Malty, bready and earthy notes. Actually a rather nice resinous finish.
3.3 Cask pint at Stratford Haven, Nottingham. Pours clear golden with a tight white head. Aroma: biscuit malts, citrus. Taste: light sweet & moderate to heavy bitter, bitter citrus fruit dominates. Some pith & zest also. Medium body, fine carb, dry bitter close
3.5 Sampled on draught at the Scarsdale Tavern, Kensington. Dark copper colour with low carbonation. Aroma is rich and malty, and the taste is malty and fruity, with notes of lime and grapefruit. Good, earthy hop flavours. A well-balanced and beautifully made beer. Highly drinkable.
3.5 Cask, 4.5% at the Wharf. Clear dark copper colour. The flavour is clean and fruity with more fruit in a good fruity aroma hop note, flowery. Good bitterness and a faint hop bite in the finish. Flavorful and well-balanced.
3.7 Cask @Greenwich Tavern. Ciemnobursztynowe, klarowne, prawie zero wysycenia i piany. Aromat delikatnie owocowy (cytrusy!) i chlebowo-karmelowy. Smak konkretnie gorzki. Pełnia dość niska, pije się naprawdę przyjemnie.
3.4 Cask. Hazy yellow golden. Fruity and floral hops aroma. Sweetish, grainy malt, floral and earthy hops, a bit of apples and apricots notes. Medium-bodied, low carbonation. Nice.
4.0 Cask. Interesting british cask with a american hop profile. Notes of pineapple, grapefruit and grass. A bit dry.
4.0 Cask pint at The George Tavern, London E1. Clear amber with a thin lasting head. Malty bready aroma with a hint of citrus. Rich, malty arrival on the tongue, malty floral sweetness in the middle that slowly develops into a moderate hop bitterness on the finish with hints of citrus and fruit. A very flavourful, well kept pint that I thoroughly enjoyed! Went down especially well with the excellent 70s rock being played at the pub.
3.4 Aroma American hops. Nice bittersweet hop taste. Tiny bit of malt profile would be perfect. One of the goodones definitely
3.0 Bitter, almost sour citrus with a dry hoppy finish. Decent if unspectacular pale ale.
3.7 Quite rich body. Good hopy and malty aroma but a bit to much sour in aroma that overwhelm fruits. It seamed to bitter at start bu in fact bitternes is medium, lasting a bit to long. Not bad but rather medium beer.
3.5 Cask @ The White Horse, Chilham. Clear golden colour, white foam. Citrussy, notes of tropical fruit. Rather bitter and grassy hoppy finish. Not bad.
4.2 Birthday Cask from Paul. Medium brown, light taste, very drinkable
3.5 Pint @ The Bitter End Saint-Germain-en-Laye. Beaux arômes fruités avec légère amertume.
4.8 Good stuff! Not a fan of the pale ales, usually they are to bitter and hoppy for my taste. This one, however, is the perfect combination of hoppiness and goodness! Cheers!

3.6 Cask (handpump) at the Piccadilly Tavern, Manchester on 18 January 2017. Mini rating as I have more extensive notes in the backlog (27/07/2011 & 27/07/2015 - to be entered in due course). Adnams best regular beer in my view and I’m always happy to grab a glass of this when there’s nothing more esoteric on offer. Rich golden amber colour. There’s a solid New World hop aromatic/tropical fruit character but it’s backed up with a firm tangy bitterness and a biscuity malt base. A tasty drop.
3.3 Cask Pint in Lowestoft in July 2015 - Golden in colour. Hoppy; grassy hops. Fruity; grapefruit citrus, lemon and lime. Malty; toasty malts, caramel. Nice hoppy fruity bite! Mildly bitter hoppy fruity throughout. Nice beer! (2015-07)
3.7 Cask. Clear amber colour with a decent off white head. Pleasant caramel and citrus aroma. Taste is light-medium sweet and light-medium bitter. Soft carbonation. Pleasant, well balanced, refreshing and (bearing in mind the moderate abv) satisfying. An excellent modern session bitter.
2.9 Amber. Good citrusy hop aroma. Somewhat dry taste with moderately bitter finish. Decent hoppy flavour. Overall, not decent but not really my kind of beer. Aroma and flavour are good, but the lack of carbonation is a major detraction.
4.3 On cask at The Highlander, Winlaton.. aromas of passionfruit, lemon and lime. Taste is strong citrus with a hit of bitterness in the aftertaste. Crystal clear pint. Nice and fresh!
3.3 Cask at Anglers Arms, Northumberland. Amber colour with a white foam head leaving lots of lacing. Nose of zesty citrus hops. Taste is malty, caramel with floral citrus hoppy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry lingering citrusy bitter finish. Quite drinkable.
