Adnams Jack Brand Crystal Rye IPA

Adnams Jack Brand Crystal Rye IPA

Can: Filtered

We’ve used lots of hops from North America – Columbus, Centennial, Cascade, Amarillo and Citra – because we just love the delicious, big, bold, citrus and pine flavours and aromas they bring to the beer.

To balance out all this hoppy goodness we’ve added Rye, plus some Pale Ale and Cara Malt, to imbue sweetness, body and balance as well as some lovely subtle toffee flavours.

2.9 330ml can from Adnams, Hadleigh. Pours a dark red amber colour, nice notes of malt with slight zesty. Large head, strong flavour
3.7 0.33l can. Clear copper body with a huge beige head. Aroma and taste of sticky toffee, toast, grapeseed and a generous amount of grapefruit. Balanced between the toffee-like sweetness and the citrusy hops. Nice IPA.
2.9 Can from Co op. Pours amber/red, not much head. Slight spicey rye notes come through against the hops. Not the best example of a rye ipa, but not the worst.
3.0 Can at friends house, 5th August 17. Pours dark amber, aroma is malty, caramel. Taste is slightly rough around the edges, malt, slight hops, sweet, some bitterness. Not great as an IPA
3.2 Deep sweet malts with dry hoppiness. Unlike the wild ale the mix aint perfect. As the Hops lack fruitiness and have touch of pine and are pretty dry. Overall it is a decent ale that lacks any real complexity.
3.7 Cremosa com sabor e aroma com suave caramelo. Além do característico cítrico e resinoso do lúpulo.
3.4 330 ml can, from Coop, Aberdeen. ABV is 5.0%. Reddish brown colour, moderate off-white head. Aroma of fruity and piney American hops, hints of caramelized orange marmalade. Medium dry flavour, some lightly roasted malts, followed by piney and grapefruity hops.
3.8 Can from co op. Pours clear dark amber. Nose of spiced orange, pine resin, marmalade, melt loaf. Taste is toasted rye bread, more malts, but of tropical fruit.
3.5 Canned on discount at the Co-op. Pours red-orange with a beige head. Nice pine aroma. Sweetish start with a gentle bitter balance. Flavous of toffee, caramel and bread from the rye. Soft carbonation, smooth and really quite drinkable with a dry finish. Quite good.
2.8 Can. Nose is rich toffee light pine, citrus. Taste is rye, toffee, hint of chocolate, pine, citrus, metallic. It’s very very bland.
3.2 Clear, deep golden colored, medium white frothy head. Aroma is of malt, caramel, some citrus and fruits, orange hardcandy. Taste is medium sweet malt, caramel, citrus and fruity notes, orange hard candy, dryish finish. Medium bodied, soft carbonation.
2.8 Bottle. Deep Amber in colour. Small off-white head. Malty; grainy rye malt, caramel/toffee. Spicy. Fruity; grapefruit citrus. Hoppy; grassy hops. Bitter grainy malty and citrus fruity throughout. Quite dry. Bit metallic. Didn’t like it. Not for me. (2015-05-25)
3.0 Pours Amber clear. Low carbonation. White fine head. Smells of pine, resin, strong caramel toffee diacetyl. Strong caramel toffee diacetyl taste, some spice from the rye, bit of citrus grapefruit. Low to medium bitterness for an IPA. Overall: too much emphasis on the cara malts, that shadows the rye and hops. Bitterness could be higher.
3.4 Pours clear amber with thin white head. Nose is citrusy. Aromas are caramel malts, grapefruit. Average carbonation, medium body, smooth texture. M soul bitter and citrusy finish.
2.8 Can from Tesco. Pours amber coloured with thin whitish head. Aroma hoppy with some resin and toasty notes. Sweetish caramel with metallic aftertaste. Nothing special.
3.0 Looks nice enough, smells OK (not memorable) but doesn’t really deliver on the flavour. Quite dry finish with not much else going on. The hops used in this beer are some of my favourite and headline some of the world’s greatest beers, but here they do very little other than impart a generic hop taste and alot of dry bitterness. The malt takes a back seat given this is a rye IPA. OK but rather dry and uninspiring
2.8 Canned 33cl. Color : nice hazy amber ale with nice white head. Nose : English ale yeast, iron rust. Aromas : cereals, citrus. Low carbonation, nice bitterness, dry texture.
W aromacie lekko chmielowo, cytrusy i slody zytnie.
Poco centeno y bastante rollo industrial. Sin más.
3.2 It has a nice smell of hops. Apperence was golden with a creamy, white head. Here the fun stopped. Did expect more out of the rye, spicyness was not present, and the finish did leave a lot to the imagination. Slightly bitter finish.
3.5 Can from Tesco. Copper-colored, clear, tan head. Peppery and sweet aromas. Body is medium, mildly oily. Dry finish.
3.1 Bottle from B&M in Ipswich. Poured a clear deep amber colour with an off white head. Aroma is hoppy, and citrus, with malty notes. Medium sweetness and bitterness. Light body. Average carbonation.
3.2 Appearance: pours clear dark amber with decent fluffy head Aroma: light hoppy nose Mouthfeel: medium Mouthfeel and carbonation Taste: sweet malt, bitter aftertaste, grassy hops
3.6 Can 33cl. Poured into a shaker. Brilliant deep amber, good two finger creamy beige head, mostly diminishing, good lacing; aroma roasted malts, caramel, rye bread, light citrus and pine notes; taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, toffee, roasty; aftertaste toasted malty sweetbitter, light spicy notes; medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation; solid rye ipa.
2.7 Pours with a big cream head and a lager look. Tastes very very dry with a bitter happy finish.
3.0 Puszka 330ml. Ciemny herbaciany kolor . Piana biala srednia szybko sie redukuje. Aromat cytrusow ananasow trawy chmielow. Cytrusy chmiele ...niezle. Marcin G
2.0 33cl can, served in shaker. Pours transparent amber with small off-white head. Aroma is caramel, herbs and fruits. Taste is pretty much the same, definitely more malty than hoppy. The bitterness is too weak. Light/medium body, soft carbonation. Simple and boring, very little can be said about this one.
Ganske bitter afslutning i svælget. Overall: Ikke dårlig, men ej heller specielt charmerende. Somehow plain and simple! 330 ml, dåse, 5.0 % ABV, BB: 30/06/16, købt i Systembolaget ved Triangel i Malmø.
3.0 Boks. Mørk gylden farge. Moderat karbonert med hvit skumtopp. Smaker furunål,gress, brød,karamell. En ganske kjedelig ipa egentlig
