3.7 Copenhagen 20/1 2019. 33 cl bottle from Vinbørsen. Ægirs usual label design with ornaments and a little happy viking face. Little Norwegian flag and very norwegian tagline “Brygga mellom fjord og fjell i fagre flåm”. Pours clear deep amber with small offwhite head. Clumps of yeast whirling around. Head Settles as thin patchy layer of foam. No Lacing. Aroma is rich, intense and pretty laden with alcohol. Sugary molasses, marzipan, sharp alcohol, vineous like port and sherry. Low carbonation. Medium thick, oily texture. Quite sticky. Flavor is intensely sweet followed by a quite weak bitterness. Aftertaste is strong, sweet and long. Distinct alcoholic presence. Rich, vineous thick and strong. As a Barley Wine should be.
3.4 W aromacie przyjemne nuty fig, daktyli i melasy+ szlachetny alkohol. Piana szczątkowa i szybko opada. Barwa rubinowa, klarowna.
Sockrigt arom. Fin laceing. Söt och besk. Ihålig. Undrar om den är utläst. Blir inga mer.
3.8 Aroma karamell, malt, sjokolade, tørr frukt. Utseende uklar brun med beige skum. Smak mørke frukter, karamell, brunsukker, malt. Søtlig tørr avslutning. Flaske smakt Juni 2014, 50cl 13,2%

Fyldig sødmerik smak med preg av karamellmalt, humle, honning, rosin, daddel, tørka frukt, kandisukker, gras. Middels bitterhet som set litt. Rund, veldig god.
3.1 From tap. An unclear dark brown coloured beer with an off-white head. Aroma and flavour of caramel, malt, raisins, alcohol, dried fruit, nuts and with a sweet finish.
4.0 Exellent!
3.7 0,33l bottle. Pours cloudy dark mahogany with small off-white head. Aroma of dark fruits, black grapes, caramel, hint of nuts. Taste is very sweet, dark fruits, caramel, some hops. Full mouthfeel, very soft carbonation. Slight hint of alcohol.
4.1 0,5l bottle brought by a friend from a cruise boat. Enjoyed @ home. Pours clear amber with flotsam and a medium creamy beige head. Aroma is sweet lightly roasted malts with raisins. Flavor is sweet lightly roasted malts, raisins, some leather, alcohol, hops. Has aged terribly well.
3.2 The War God is Thor in the Scandinavian Mythology and is named for this hefty Barley Wine on 13.2% alc. Thor runs across the sky with his two bucks and causes quake and lightning across the globe, and his strength is clearly reflected in this Barley Wine. It has sligthly foam with strong aroma of alcohol, dried fruits and lots of malt. The taste is characterized by tropical fruit, hazelnut and a sweetness of scallops. In addition, it has figs, green apples and a slightly indeterminate spicy flavor that I know best as a fennel, without being completely sure. Alcohol dominates as a sprouted aftertaste which leaves warmth, but it's probably a bit too dominant on the alcohol side to my taste. Conversely, I think it can last for a long time storage just to become gentler and more tasteful. It's an elegant Barley Wine with really good notes, but it's probably a little too alcoholic and should have been kept a secret place for some years.
3.2 33cl bottle. dark bread and dried fruits in aroma, lacking hoppy accents due to caramel coffee and reisins, alcohol quite perceptible, medium body and carbonation
3.5 Bottle. Dark amber color. Toffee and dried fruit in the aroma and flavor. Malty sweet with herbal hops. Full bodied. Fire in my glass.
3.6 Tap @ Hugos. Appearance: pours muddy brown with low beige soapy and lacing. aroma/taste notes: caramel, alcohol, nuts, light chocolate, light wood, overripe fruits and herbal notes. palette: strong caramel malty aroma, average carbonation, full body, notable sweetness, balanced by an average to notable bitterness, long duration and an oily texture. Overall: nice with a BW with a hop balance
3.4 Piana drobna, całkiem obfita i trwała, barwa miedziana, klarowna, z pływającymi paproszkami. W niezbyt intensywnym aromacie głównie karmel, kandyzowany cukier, figi i kompot z suszu. W smaku słodkie, rodzynkowe, karmelowe, ziołowe, w posmaku przejrzałe cytrusy i solidne alkoholowe rozgrzewanie. Goryczka średnia, żywiczno przyprawowa, niskie wysycenie, gęste, oleiste i lepkie w odbiorze. Ogólnie fajne body i faktura, którym jednak nie wtóruje nieco nikły zapach i dość mdły smak...
2.8 Karmel, toffi, suszone owoce, chlebek, rozgrzewający alkohol w sporej ilości. Amerykańskość zdecydowanie wycofana. Średnio pełne, półsłodkie. Średnie wysycenie, średnia goryczka.
3.2 Bottle sample at a tasting at Max' place. Thanks Stas and Max. Hazy brown-gold. Slightly hoppy, slightly alcoholic, sherry heering and then some molasses aroma. Sweet, honey, molasses, some alcohol in the mouth. Full body, alcoholic finish.
2.9 No head. Clowdy brown color. Tired malty aroma. Big astringent bitterness. A not balanced caramell taste and too sweet finish.
3.2 Bottle sample at a tasting at Max's place. Thanks Stas & Max. Hazy reddish amber. Malt, caramel, stale hops, some fruitiness, sweet, some alcohol, bitter finish, medium-bodied.
3.2 At Max Place, pours rusty with a small head, aroma of orange, marmalade, toffee, flavor of toffee, caramel, orange, medium bodied
3.6 W aromacie winnie, czerwone owoce. W smaku dość słodkie, lekka kwasowość i goryczka. Alkohol dobrze ukryty. Trochę mało wyraziste i odbiegające nieco od poprawnego barley wine.
3.3 Draught at Taphouse, Hazy orange coloured with a small white head. Sweet and fruity aroma of caramel and dried fruits with notes of cookies. Grutiy flavour of caramel, hops, pine needles and cookies. Hoppy finish.
3.7 Bottle shared with JFE and BG at Vaaland Bryghus 15.09.17. Dark amber. Beige head. Sweet malt aroma and taste, wih dates, prunes, sweet dark malt, dried red berries and jam. Round and sweet mouthfeel.alcohol,
3.7 Tap. Aroma of caramel, malt, light vanilla-ish, slight metallic. Clear reddish brown with off-white head. Taste is moderate+ sweet light bitter. Full body, sticky feel and caramel sweet finish.
4.0 Z notatek spisane. Butelka pite na działce. Kolor ciemny brąz wpadający w bursztynowe ciemne, piana słaba ale pozostaje w postaci obrączki. Aromat owocowy, lekko ziołowy z przewagą owoców suszonych. W smaku wytrawne, owocowe, trochę nut chlebowych. Alkohol ukryty genialnie. Na finiszu lekka słodycz, wyśmienite piwo.
3.8 330mL bottle from Bucket Boys. BB 24.02.27 Pours a deep copper body, dense beige head persists for the most part. Rich (Oloroso) sherry-like aroma - sultana, dark caramel, vanilla, sweet biscuits, citrus undertones. Syrupy body, thick, sticky without being cloying for a rather large sweet beer, low carbonation as hoped. Sweet sweet malt upfront - lots of dark sugars, sultana, pudding, but it dries out with a citrusy, herbal hop character & firm bitterness, long lingering boozy warmth with a lovely touch of vanilla. Rather formidable, rather lovely!
3.8 Pours a cloudy copper colour with a thin white head, a big boozy aroma with malts, caramel, grains, herbs, dark fruits and also earthy cask wood, flavours match the characteristics from the aromas sweet with a light lingering bitter aftertaste, full bodied sticky mouthfeel, a fine warming ale.
