2.8sample from bottle at festival. poured a cloudy blonde colour with a white head. nose of grains and crisp malts, belgian yeast, and overripe sweet banana’s, cloves and a hint of citrus, caramel sweetness. not good
3.7From cervezasespeciales. After dinner. In La Trappe chalice. More herbal, bitter, dry and less sugary than the typical belgian beer, but nice anyway. Light body.
Mildt avrundet bitterhet i ettersmaken.
3.3Shared 330 ml bottle at local tasting. Golden colour, moderate white head. Typical aroma and flavour of Belgian blonde ale, white kandij sugar and mild spices. Okay.
God fylde. Delt 0,33 l flaske på RBHD-samling på Fridtjoffen, august 2015.
3.1Shared bottle at RB/HD on board Fridtjofen 23.08.15. Clear, pale golden. White head and lacing. Succade and citrus zest in aroma. Similar taste, with citrus bitterness in aftertaste, Also some pale malt.
2.9Shared bottle at local tasting. Pours unclear golden with a small white head. Aroma of belgian yeast, yellow fruits. Taste is moderate sweet, caramel and fruits, weak harsh almondy bitterness at finish.
33cl, 1.20€ Vanuxeem
3.333cl flesje via Firma Bier
Alcoholpercentage van 6,8%
Uitgeschonken in Grimbergen glas
2.80.5 l glass in a bar @ Brussels. Quite nice when I*m thirsty. Tastes a bit like lager with hops. ABV does not taste at all. Very good indeed.
3.7Clear orange-ish golden colour with a nice persistent head. Aroma is citrus and orange. Taste is similar but quite mild with a hint of bitterness.
3.4Clear orange color with medium head. Aroma is yeast, fruity. Flavor is yeast, malt, bit sweet.
3.3Bottle. Pilsener pour with large dense foam head. Sweetness immediately reveals itself in the aroma. Mostly bubblegum. Closer inspection reveals banana, pineapple, vanilla. Taste is relatively sour, some hints of copper / metal. Cheese / yeast / boozy development.
3.433cl bottle. My second beer from Brouwerij Affligem this evening. It pours cloudy amber, huge white, thick head. As the head settles, I get citrusy notes, kind of floral, perfumy notes quite strong. Pleasant.
Flavor has white bready, spicy yeasty notes, candy sugar sweetness. Some alcohol coming through in the finish. Finish has belgian hops, quite bitter and dry. Enjoyable brew.
3.3Medium white head, cloudy golden chestnut coloured body, citrus fruity yeast vanilla like smell, medium to high carbonation some citrus yeast medium bitter some metal and herbs
3.2Bottle at La Chaloupe d’Or. Pours lightly hazy gold with a medium, frothy off-white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is biscuit malt, earthy hops and yeast notes with light esters. Flavor is lightly tart yeast, moderate crisp malt, light hops and bitterness, light esters and a dry finish. Light body and moderate carbonation.
3.233cl bottle from Geers. Pours clear golden yellow with eggwhite head. Koriander nose. Spritzy mouthfeel also slightly metallic, well balanced slightly bitter. Faint hop aroma.
2.7Currently I am updating my ratebeer with al the beers I drank but was too lazy to rate at the time. I give the scores I gave back than. If I drink the beers again I might re-rate them.
Goed bier.
3.3Bottle from de Bierschuur in Poppel. The beer has a golden color and a nice large white head, with a lot of bubbles. In the aroma tones of flowers, dry fruits and a hint of hops. The taste is malty and a little sweetness in the background is noticable. The body is medium to light and is a little watery. Further the taste is a little chemical. The finish is short, dry and refreshing. One to forget soon. Shame, cause the other affligem beers are excellent.
3.2Affligem’s hoppy Christmas ale, usually regarded as the best in the series. This rating is from old tasting notes (eleven years ago), when it was a hazy peach blonde beer under a thick and moussy, off-white head, with fruity aroma, grassy and somewhat peppery hops, yeasty profile, orange, peach and banana, malt sweetish with soft mouthfeel evolving into a crisp and long, dry hop bitterness with some vague solvents as well. Well-balanced and more interesting than the average ’big brand’ abbey beer, and that is still true for the current version, though it now has a metallic touch to it, albeit (fortunately) less so than the Blond or the Tripel; finish is still leafy hop bitterish, but could do with even more hops. Somewhat boring, but in any case still better than the other Affligems. Had this again recently and it has become notably sweeter (and less hop bitter) and has certain metallic traits now which bothered me, as they do in the other Affligems these days; as with the other embodiments of this brand, I cannot but conclude that they have been ruined by Heineken in recent years. My rating here is an average of both tastings (3.4/5 for the original version and 2.8/5 for the current version).
3.0Hazy golden colour, white creamy foam. Medium carbonation. Aroma is bit fruity with malty body. Also yeasty. Light sweet, light bitter finish. Decent.
3.2Bottle shared. Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma of banana, yeast, caramel and spice. Flavour is over moderate sweet and moderate bitter. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Thick creamy white head. Hazy blond pour. Quite yeasty. It’s a decent blond .
3.3Bottle at Beer Passion 2014. Antwerp. Poured a crystal clear amber with a frothy white head and some broken lace. The aroma is big yeast. The flavour is dry yeast mineral light bitter with a a yeast, floral hop light malt palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation.
3.2Bottle @home. Pours golden with a nice white creamy head. Aroma is yeasty, citrus, bit hoppy. Taste is a bit sweet, little bitterness, bit metallic. Dry finish.
1.9Sampled @ Kerstbierfestival Essen 2013. Clear golden color, full sized soapy white head. Aroma is horrible: cardboard, musty, horse blanket. Yuk. Taste carboard and musty as well. Don’t like it at all. Sucks.
