4.0 Aroma is definitely smoked with a savory bacon-like quality. Dark brown with a tan head. Tastes like a campfire: woodsy, smoky and way more robust than the ABV would suggest. Fantastic aftertaste. Easy to find (picked up this bottle at Schnucks) and #2 in category to boot. There's no reason not to give this a try even if you're not a fan of the category.

4.2 Taste: smoked, woody, bacon, molasses, earthy, malty, tobacco, salty. Same with the nose. Black, opaque, tan head with delicate lace. Medium /Full body. Intense smokey character would pair well with BBQ or smoked Salmon.

4.0 Fles uit 2008, gedronken in 2019. Het bier is zwart van kleur met een stevige donkere schuimkraag. Het smaakt minder sterk naar koffie dan gedacht en heeft eigenlijk een best subtiele smaak. Veel aroma's van rook en chocolade te proeven. Smaakvol bier dat met 11 jaar nog prima smaakt!

4.2 65.5cl fles. Helder donker bruin van kleur, fijne romige creme schuimkraag. De geur is rook en chocolade. Smaak is zoet, rook, chocolade, karamel en citrus. Medium lichaam, veel koolzuur.

3.9 2012 bottle. Pours black color. Aroma of smoked malts, rye bread, caramel, syrup, malts, tar. Medium body, smooth carbonation. Sweet, smoky and malty thoroughly, long aftertaste. Some bitterness. Smooth and in good balance.

4.0 2005 bottle. Thanks, Mike! Pours black, with a small, bubbly, tan head. The aroma is smooth caramel, coffee, excellent smoke, and oak. Sweet and creamy, with a nice, smooth bitterness. Medium to heavy body, with a smooth, syrupy mouthfeel. Just fantastic.

4.2 Bottle, 2018 edition. Unexpected gift from HuskerTan, thank you Tanner, very much appreciated. Pour was black, tan head. Aroma of smoked meat, ham, sweet chocolate, ash. Taste was mild bittersweet, ash, wood, lighter smoke flavor.

4.0 Looks like a good porter, dark with a khaki head. The aroma is extremely smokey, with some roast and caramel in the background. Comes off like a slightly sweet robust porter, with smoke coming mid palate and staying all the way through. Nice balance overall, with a strong smoke presence.

4.1 Wersja 2013. W aromacie troszkę kawy, lekko czekoladowe, śliwki, dym. Aromat bardzo ułożony - nic tu się za bardzo nie wybija. W smaku podobnie - bardzo ułożone. Wędzonka przyjemna, dostojna. Bardzo dużo śliwek, delikatna paloność. Bardzo dobre.Coś, co na pewno można postawić obok Schlenkerli.

4.2 Mein Alaskan Smoked Porter war aus dem Jahre 2008 und ich habe es 2017 getrunken (auf der Flasche steht, man soll es 7 Jahre reifen lassen). Dem Geschmack hat die längere Reifung in der Flasche aber nicht geschadet: Er kommt vollmundig herüber und bringt alles mit, was ein gutes Porter haben muss. Ein bitterer rauchiger Geschmack, der am Anfang etwas Zeit braucht um hinten raus einen langen feinen Abgang zu liefern. In Mitteleuropa ist das Bier sicher ein eher teures Vergnügen, aber auf jeden Fall einen Versuch wert. Und wann kriegt man hier schon mal die Chance ein Bier aus Alaska zu trinken.

4.8 Alaskan Smoked Porter is that type of beer that always makes short lists about the best smoked beers. Any why wouldn't it? This beer is downright lovely. Smoked Porter has a dark brown body and a rich tan head. Smell and taste are practically twins here. Smoky malt, charred chocolate, and some umami. While the smoke is definitely noticeable it doesn't throw off the balance of this beer. This is a Smoked Porter that still makes you think Porter. Happily this is that rare ale that can deliver smokiness without being a forest fire in a bottle. While it's hardly a new beer, Alaskan Smoked Porter will likely be considered a textbook smoked beer for years to come.

4.0 Bottle. A- Smoke, slightly meaty, wood, char, mild coffee, mild cocoa. A- Black color, dark liquid, light brown head. T- Smoke, umami, wood, ash, mild coffee, cocoa, slightly earthy. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- 2017 edition. A year of age and it seems to be great at this vintage. I enjoy my smoked beers but sometimes they can get overwhelming. This was not so smokey or meaty it couldn't be enjoyed. The porter base was definitely there with lots of smoke in a balanced manner. Hope to get more now that Alaskan is in Nebraska.

3.8 65cl bottle from boxbeers.dk. Poured black with a thick brown head. Aroma has smoke, licorice and roasted malt. Pleasant smokyness. Flavor has smoke, ash, licorice, hops and roasted malt. Long roasty finish with hint of coffee. Woody notes coming more as it gets warmer. Pleasant, tasty porter. Smooth, medium to full bodied.

4.4 2013 versie Uiterlijk: Zwart, donkerrood, en laat een olielaag achter. Geur: Rood, vleugje kokos, chocolade, gerookte ham. Smaak: Gerookte mout, zoetig, vette paling, koffie, houtskool, vanille. Mond: Volle rokerige droge en zachte smaak die om meer vraagt. Zeker voor herhaling vatbaar.

3.2 Vintage 2013. Bomber sized bottle at home, split with a3aan_uit and Emiel. Pours a jet black colour with a moderate soapy brown colour with decent retention and leaves a bit of lacing. Aroma of salami, Laphroaig whisky, peat, smoked malt, slight chocolate, slight coffee. Taste is moderate sweet, moderate bitter with a moderate dry finish. Notes of smoked malt, peat, caramalt, slight chocolate. Texture is watery, light bodied with soft carbonation

3.6 Flasa u Peta. Vona sladkasta, jemne dymova. Farba kavy. Pena pekna hneda, po chvili padla. Chut sladkasta mierne udena. Na konci vyrazne slanoudena.

3.9 Bottle from Pivný raj Very light smoked porter, one may not even notice that. Body feels somewhat light though there's full palate of flavors. Sweetish, plum, red fruits and bit of wood. Nice.

5.0 Porter Biere gibt es mehr als genug. Einige sind auch sehr gut bis top. Das Alaskan Smoked ist für mich die Krönung der Porter. Genial gebraut. Sehr, wirklich sehr rauchig. Optisch sehr ansprechend. Geruch aromatisch, Rauch und Malz. Geschmack intensiv und aromatisch. Raucharomen, Malz, angenehme süße Noten, dezente Bitternoten. Ein außergewöhnliches und spezielles, aber auch genniales Bier. Ein tolles Porter, wie kaum ein anderes. Am besten einmal selbst probieren.
