2.6 Bottle/Fest. A- Grains. A- Orange color, clear liquid, white head. T- Grains. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, bland finish. O- Lots of grains. Pretty bland. Felt a bit more like a pale lager than then crispness needed for a nice kolsch.
3.4 12oz bottle at home brought back from Giant Eagle Cleveland. Clear gold thin head. Sweet wheat straw fruity. Crisp
3.4 Clear gold pour with a white head. The aroma is clean and fresh. It has a light body with lively carbonation. The taste is bittersweet with an easy finish.
3.0 Pour is a golden with some chill haze and a small white head. Aroma is cereal grain with not much else. Flavor is more cereal grain with a little syrupy sweetness on the end. Kind of got better as it warmed but it was still a bit too sweet and heavy for a kolsch.
3.3 Taste: semi sweet caramel malts, bread, slight mild hop notes, creamy finish. Bright hop nose. Pale gold hue, mostly clear, whit head some lace. medium light body.
3.6 12floz bottle, BBD: 08.15.2018, $1.75 unit cost, pint glass. Appears a nice glowing gold with a soft off-white head. Sandy, saltine, hay aroma/flavor notes. A hearty lawnmower beer that is medium in body and carbonation.
3.3 I had this at Global Brew. Pours gold with a white head. Taste crisp, light, mildly sweet. I thought this was good. I would drink this again.
3.4 The aroma is a little malty, bread. Pours a clear copper/yellow with minimal white head and very good lacing. The taste is umami, not bitter, not sweet, not sour, refreshing. The body is light, the texture a thin creamy, the carbonation average and the finish brief. A decent refreshing beer.
2.6 From Apr 2007 This one pours from 20z bottle(best by 06 27 07) a clear light gold with a small head of foam. That soon dissipates completely and there's no lacing. The smell is very delicate...I can just detect some sweet malty tones. The taste starts off with a light malty taste, a bit of sweet and a bit of biscuit, but again, they are lightly done but *still* tasty. Further sips in and I get a bit of orange with a slight hop kick that balances the flavours well. It also finishes slightly bitter and leaves a clean aftertaste. Good tasting brew and quite drinkable. Bottom line: It's called Summer Ale for a reason, me thinks and it's a good one to turn to in the hot summer months. I recommend it.
3.0 12oz bottle shared by commonshawn and Highendwilly. Copper, light amber in color with a quarter finger white head. Nose is grainy and malty reminding me of Oktoberfest efforts probably a direct result of the German inspiration in a kolsch. Taste follows suit with malty elements running the show. Mild sweetness prevails. Only a slight bitterness towards the end. Might be a little bit old as crispness isn't where it should be. In general, it's a decent low alcohol effort that I'll likely pass on the next time.
3.2 Pours a clear gold from the bottle with bubbly white head that leaves light lace. Aroma and taste of bready grain and mild fruity esters. Clean, easy drinking kolsch, good for a summer beer.
2.0 Bursztynowy kolor. Słaby aromat, mocno nasycone. Duże pecherzyki piany. Słodkie, brak goryczki.
4.0 Great example of the style! Pours clean with clean white head and good lacing. Slight bready/grassy aroma and good clean finish. Great beer - will have again for sure.
2.4 Malty, balanced hops and forgettable, everything you could want from a light summer ale.
3.0 Yellow, small white head. Aroma malt, a little fruity. Light body. Crisp mouthfeel. Flavor is light hops, a little fruitiness, reasonably refreshing, unexciting overall.
3.4 Straw yellow pour. This is a really nice twist on the kolsch. Very crisp and refreshing
3.5 12oz bottle. Gold with medium white head. Pleasant mild aroma. Light and crisp. Pretty refreshing. Good summer twist on a kolsh, not bad at all.
2.4 Bottle. Nose grainy, musty (reminds me of certain Euro hops) with subtle and sweet candy overlay. Pour perfectly clear golden leaning to orange, sudsy head. Taste grainy, floral, lightly medicinal, hint of bread but it’s not fresh, thin malt, touch oily. Crisp full body but not fat. Think I’d pass on a second. [2017.06.12: 2.4]
3.2 Bottle from Merchants. Aroma is sweet, malty, slight earthy hops, cereal, maybe caramel malt or butterscotch, it’s a Kölsch alright. Appearance is amber golden, light tan head, mostly clear. Taste is grainy, earthy hops, corn, somewhat bitter, malt. Mouthfeel is light body, light crisp carbonation, grainy earthy hop aftertaste. Overall, it’s your pretty standard Kölsch.
3.3 Clear golden with a white head. Toasty malt and light hop spice. Clean with light cracker in the finish.
3.9 Pours a clear darker golden with a decent eggshell head that settles to a film and leaves a few stray spots of lace. Nose involves toasted malt and noble hop spice. Somewhat sweet, somewhat bitter. Medium bodied, active, a bit oily yet crisp with a drying herbal spicy finish. Nice quencher, subtle.
3.1 12oz bottle from local grocery store. Golden orange pour with a golden-white head leaving little lacing. Aroma has light sweet fruits, light sweet malts, and sour wheat. Taste is a well blended combination of the three. Not a super tasty blend but it certainly blends the elements well. Medium bodied or a touch less, with solid carbonation and little alcohol presence. Finishes more sour wheaty than tangy fruity. Shrug? Always looking for a good kolsch as the components seem they would make a good brew - unfortunately this is not one. 12.1
3.2 clear, bright gold color; very light malt aroma; very light malt and mild floral hops
2.9 Bottle from Total Wine, Sacramento. Pours clear gold with an attractive white head and a toffee aroma. There is a light pale malt flavor with a dry slightly bitter finish.
3.5 12 ounce bottle, 9/10/16. Slightly hazy amber, large fizzy tan head, fair head retention. Aroma of toasted doughy malt and mild floral hops. The taste is bready malts, floral and herbal hops and some faint apricot-like fruits. Medium bodied, crisp, mild lingering bitterness. Solid.
3.1 Solid & clean kolsch! Decent pout that has a retaining white head & lacing. Flavor is kind of malty & actually more interesting than most in this style. Not too bad!
3.4 12oz bottle to tulip. Pours clear gold, white head. Aroma of fresh white bread from bread machine, small grass, banana. Taste of big bread, raisin, some fruit mostly banana, minute nuttiness. Mouthfeel is mod-thick with smooth balanced finish.
3.9 B-. Pours a clear golden color with white head. Great flavor up front, but slightly over bitter finish
2.1 Poured in glass, dark gold and amber colored, very nice. Notes of apricot and orange, baking dough and sourdough. Good.
2.8 Shared 12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear golden color with a white head. Aroma and taste of grains, bread, light malt. Light-bodied. Okay.
