Ale Asylum Bedlam!

Ale Asylum Bedlam!

A chaotic blend of Citra hops and Belgian-style yeast give this IPA aromas of passion fruit, a bright hop flavor and a plush finish.

4.0 Tap at brewery. Pours light brown with orange throughout. Aroma is very piney, lots of tropical fruits. Taste is really nice, the Belgian flavor comes out and blends into the ipa very nicely, a great representation of this style. Overall, very well made.
3.6 At the. Brewery. Very Good. Belgian ipa. Smooth mouthfeel. Very drinkable stuff.
3.9 Served on tap. Red with a fluffy white head. Hoppy aroma. Medium body. Well balanced hops with a pine.
3.7 Pours burnt orange, off white head that recedes. Belgian candy yeast, kiwi, strawberry bubblegum, caramel malts and toast. Similar flavor profile with the dry grain malt profile showing up in the finish. Richer bodied and almost chewy. Nice hop bitterness on the finish. Well balanced and pretty well done for a Belgian IPA
3.8 Clear yellow gold, ample light tan head. Fine. Sweet tropical fruit, light honey, maybe a hint of banana. Solidly bitter, almost equally sweet. Quite well balanced, long finish, medium body. Clean. Nice.
4.1 Hoppy, citrus and full. More of an orange citrus flavor, pours a very nice head out of the bottle.
3.3 Bottle. Caramel, fumes, and a little citrus. Medium dark amber color. Flavors of citrus, caramel, light sweet cake dough. Fades out pretty quickly. Thin-medium body. Nice enough. The Citra seems very understated.
3.6 Bottle. Hazy orange, fine, low, thick head. Citrus nose, orange, lemon, spicy yeast, stone fruit. rich biscuity malt flavor, peaches, oranges, light, spicy yeast, peppery finish. Full and smooth. Seems a bit old, but nice.
3.5 Many thanks to Chris for this beer! Nice fresh Belgian Wit nose with fresh hops. The beer starts fresh but not too deep. Belgian Wit with nice smooth floralness. Fresh, smooth. Not too deep but nice. Fresh floral hops in the aftertaste with nice typical Belgian Wit aroma of yeast, coriander and citrus. Nice.
3.6 Many thanks to Chris!! Pours a hazy orange with a fluffy tan head. The smell is yeast, spice, some citrus. The taste is yeast, spice, citrus ending crisp and dry. Light in body with nice carbonation.
4.0 Nice amber/copper color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of sweet malt, floral/pine hops, & citrus; Flavor of slight sweet malt, caramel, pine hops, some fruit, and citrus, Finish is fairly bitter; Nicely balanced; Pretty impressed - good stuff.
4.4 Aroma is very interesting with spices, yeast, hops and a bit of resin. Outstanding appearance with a huge billowy, off-white, semi-permanent head, with lots of lace and a clear honey amber color. Flavor’s similar to nose with resin coming out more and lingering somewhat unpleasantly in the finish. Body is on the soft side which enhances that resin finish. Otherwise it’s a real good drinking beer.
4.4 In a word: "Intense". Thick-hazed amber color on the pour. Huge, peppery hops hit me before I even bring my nose down to the glass. Extra whiffs of grapefruit, pine needles and grasses are there when I do... but I can also detect a hearty malt backbone. The taste is potently flavored with all of those hop characteristics from the aroma. And it has a sticky consistency which allows all of those flavors to linger. I’m not a "hop head" but I certainly enjoyed the fireworks I experienced with this beer. Wow... the pine and pepper aftertaste just won’t quit! ~~~~ Single 12 oz. bottle received as a gift.
3.9 Pours a nice cloudy orange with some foam, smells like a fruity fresh hop. At first taste some fruit juice and spice with some bitter at the back end. This is the second 6-pack I bought this week, so saying it’s easy drinking is elementary. I think what I like most is the chaotic-ness, the flavor is all over the place.
2.1 i could smell a little bit of passionfruit but not as distinct. Like the color especially when poured in a glass. Taste better drinking from a glass. A little too citrusy for me.
3.9 12oz bottle. Pours a murky orange with an off-white head. Aroma is of hops, sugar, banana, and citrus. Smells like a Belgian with a big hop character. There is also a lot of spice. Taste starts off with a lot of spice and banana. Has a nice citrus hop character that isn’t bitter, and is very juicy. It is very well balanced. Finish is sugary, with a lot of spice. Goes down way too easy. Really good.
4.1 Bottle. Pours clear golden Amber with fluffy white head. Nose is citrus and Brett. Taste has nice belgian and Brett.
3.9 Tasted from bottle. Pours a clear Amber with white head. Good lacing. Aroma is fruity with citrus and some tropical notes. Also some yeast and spices. Taste is a very smooth and clean bitterness. Moderate bitterness with mild to moderate sweetness. Citrus, pine, caramel, belgian spices. Excellent ipa.
4.9 I never get tired of this beer. Maintains it’s Belgian core and refreshes with every sip. My go to beer.
5.0 Actually a perfect beer. Flavor on a lot of levels with a bomb of citra hops. Fucking brilliant. Thank you.
3.6 Bottle. Orange-amber color with thick off-white head. Resiny-pine aroma with citrus notes. Sweet citrus flavor with resiny bitterness. Sweet, long finish.
3.8 Smooth and creamy mouthfeel with initial pine cone hop notes that lead into flavors of tropical passion fruit and mango above spicy Belgian yeasts. Finishes on an intense grassy hop note that lingers with a lot of bitterness and a bit of heat.
3.7 From a bottle. Foamy head, bright Orange color. Interesting aroma, vaguely Belgian spice. A bit forgettable, frankly. Nothing remarkable about the flavor, hops a bit overwhelmed by the spice.
3.6 Bottle via trade, pours lightly hazy orange color with medium head. Notes are pine, grass, citrus, and spice. A little hot but drinkable still. Finishes pretty dang dry and bitter. Don’t like Belgian IPAs in general cause Belgian yeast doesn’t Belong with my American dank hops but this was solid.
4.0 "packed with aroma and flavor...toeing the line of some dbl ipas. huge citrus and pine aroma with just a touch of yeast. some yeasty fruit esters also make their presence known in the flavor, with a bit of a dry finish, but it’s the big juicy hops up front. a tasty smooth brew, courtesy of pfoxyjohn."
3.9 On tap at Ale Asylum. Pours a clear light orange with a thick white head. Aroma of tropical fruits, grassy hops, garlicky hops, light fruits. Flavor of lots of garlicky and grassy hops up front, followed by citrus, tropical fruits, and light fruits. Very hop forward and fruity. Some light fruits and peppery spices make up the Belgian presence. Very delicious! 8/4/8/4/15 (3.9/5)
3.7 Bright, amber tinted orange. Powdery, sweet nose with cotton candy and honey sugars layering the garlic, passion fruit and lime zest of the citra core. Bathroom floor alcohol is only momentary. Golden kiwi blends with the gentle heat. The flavor is well written with crisp candy sugars mingling with the bright fruits. The moments of resinous, dank greenness throughout are extremely pleasant in their balancing capability, and these become more prevalent as the sugars gracefully fade. The quality here is revealing itself slowly and elegantly. Clingy palate with high citrus acid. Surprisingly clean through the mid palate. Punchy sugars just dance wistfully away. The progression here is impressive. The artful touch of yeast is evident in this way, if it is mostly too hard to find for this to be truly memorable.
4.6 Great beer. Great aroma love the citric taste to it. It makes for a great summer beer. Yet another great beer from Ale Asylum.
3.6 Bottle. Dark gold/amber pour, off-white head. Aroma of ester, citrus/grassy hop, caramel, orange candy. Taste is lightly bitter, fruity, grassy, a bit sweet. Palate is drier, slick, sweet finish.
3.7 Sample at the brewpub. Hazy bronze-amber color with a medium white head that diminishes steadily to a film. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of hops, citrus and malt. Medium body with flavors of spicy hops, grapefruit and sweet malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a citrusy hops aftertaste. Above average overall.
