A blend of seven unique malts give this brown ale an earthy aroma and a flavor reminiscent of caramel with a slightly creamy finish.

3.7Bottle:
Pours slightly hazed mahogany with a creamy, light tan head.
Caramel, chocolate, bark aroma.
Creamy, nut and chocolate malt flavor.
Roasty, a little oily, maybe some cola notes.
Smooth, simple, straightforward......
Really pleasant and rich....nice.
3.2Bottle. Nutty chocolate malt and herbal hay aroma. Medium brown with moderate tan head. Mildly sweet nutty chocolate malt and mildly bitter herbal quinine/hay flavor. Okay but a bit harsh.
3.412 oz bottle pours brown with a white head. Aroma of malts, nutty and earthy. Taste is nutty and malty.
2.6Reddish brown with pillowy head. Dark fruits on the nose. Taste- toasty malt, honey, nutty and caramel. Mellow and lightly hopped. Not bad but this serves to remind me why I don't drink brown ales much anymore. Just kind of boring but again, a decent decent brown ale if you're in to them.
3.2Bottle. Sam Smith my current gold standard for nutbrowns. Madtown not as ssatisfying - weaker.
3.4Pours dark brown with a finger of foamy, tan head. Nose is bready with slight fruity notes and a hint of caramel. Taste is slightly bitter on a malty-sweet backbone. Medium body. Lively carbonation. Good stuff.
3.9I thought this was a little hoppy for the style. Still an easy drinker though
3.4Smooth and a bit creamy/thick feeling. Lack of any real aroma. Molases notes are really awesome. I woulf rank below, but near to, New Castle.
3.0Pours a dark brown with a good deal of yeast in the bottom of the bottle. Good shelf life on this beer. The aroma is clean with some dark roasted notes. The flavor is a typical American micro ale with a thick mouthfeel due to the use of a high percentage of caramel malts. All in all pretty good.
3.6Another great nut brown ale. Really easy to drink. Nice nutty and malty start. Pours reddish brown in color with a tan head. Smells nutty. Had at grafton.
3.5Bottle poured a clear reddish brown with a small lasting tan head. Aromas of caramel, cocoa and light nbuttiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of cocoa, caramel and a hint of nuttiness with a smooth finish.
3.612 oz bottle poured into a shaker. A roasted nut aroma is initially noted with some grains and earthiness late. It’s a dark, but clear, mahogany color with a tan-yellow soapy head that retains a moderate ring and leaves a dusty lace. It’s balanced between moderate bitter and sweet. The smooth beer has a light and fuzzy carbonation. The medium body is roasty and nutty with some grains and earthiness and a syrupy, and creamy, caramel finish. It’s surprisingly clean with just a hint of caramel.
3.4Brown pour from 12oz bottle. Carmel and roast aroma. Nutty and earthy taste with a malty ending. A very nice brown.
3.5Brown with a small beige head. The aroma is a mix of toffee, caramel, and some nutty malt. The flavor adds a bit of esters, and has a nice toasted brown malt character. Reminds of a lighter version of a brown porter. Finishes a tad sweet, and is quite easy drinking.
2.6Roasted caramel malt has a strong vegetable edge and fecal aftertaste. Not recommended.
3.2Darker Amber and brown in color, milk chocolate notes, light hops, minor carbonation, good hop backbone. The finish is minor bitters and minor milk chocolate. Overall a good brown ale with a good balance of hops
3.6Not much aroma. Chocolate caramel flavor. Slight nuttiness. Smoother than most brown ales.
3.8Overall good nutbrown. Heavy chocolate flavor with minimum nut flavor. Very smooth with a nice after taste.
3.5"Super nice for the style. Chocolate malt, caramel, slight nuttiness in the nose. Barely there hops with smooth chocolate and roast in the flavor. Better than most browns. Thanks Travis. "
3.4Hazy brown with a small, white head. The aroma has caramel and some milk chocolate. It has a medium body with somewhat chewy texture and average carbonation. The taste is sweet with an easy finish.
3.4Sample at the brewpub. Clear dark brown color with a medium beige head that diminishes steadily to a film. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, roasted nuts and caramel. Light-bodied with flavors of roast malt, caramel and mild hops. The finish is roasty with a nutty and malty aftertaste. Decent overall.
3.6Sweet caramel bread doughy aroma very pleasant flavor. Not a great appearance for a commercial small white laced head in dark brown body. Medium sweet taste just right.medium creamy body with a soft carbonation and a long finish. Very enjoyable brew, in fact I think I’ll have another!
3.8Draft at AA. Pours murky brown with very little head. Nice lacing. Mild caramel on the aroma. Taste is caramel and nutty.
3.5Has a great aroma of bread and caramel. Pours a nice rich black color. Has a really nice blend of smoky, doughy, caramel, malt, with a touch of sweet fruit. The only negative of this beer, is its a little thin. A little more alcohol, and a bit thicker and this would be a 4+. It has such a nice flavor I wish they would crank it up a bit.
3.6(bottle) Nothing like drinking a brown ale on a stiflingly hot and humid day. Pours a deep reddish-brown color with a medium sized cream colored head that retains well. Yep, there’s definitely caramel here, but there’s also a strong component of roasted peanuts as well that elicits a craving for an iced cream concoction containing these two components. Also present is some light roast coffee; not the good stuff, but the kind you get at a Caribou that presents itself as being less charred than its dark roasted brethren. A faint whiff of something vegetal here kind of interrupts the good aromatic vibes. Flavor holds a good amount of caramel, again more light roast coffee, some roasted peanuts, and a little hint of stir fried vegetables with cashews (oddly enough, that’s not a bad thing here). Mouthfeel is pretty full and creamy and the carb could stand to be toned down just a tad, but overall this is an above-average brown ale.
3.9This one is a malt bomb. Sweet caramel and nutty on the nose. Smooth on the palate, with caramel, bread, and nuts. Finishes semi-sweet.
3.3Bottle. Pours hazy chestnut, medium tan head, dissipates quickly leaving decent lacing. Aroma is roasted malts, just a touch of smoke, nutty, burned caramel, pumpernickel. Flavor is the same, medium sweet, minimal bitterness, nutty and bready, light roast. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel.
3.5On tap at Milwaukee Brew Fest 2013. Translucent brown with a small tan head. Aroma and flavor of caramel, floral hops, bread, chocolate, and earth. Medium carbonation, roast on the finish.
3.1This is a brown ale of the older school variety from before people started putting tons of hops in every single beer and it is pretty decent at that. It pours a murky brown color w/ only a small ring of head and a few spots of lace. The nose is sweet malts and a touch of grassy, herbal hops. The flavor of this is a bit on the sweet side but it’s not cloying or overbearing, just w/ a nice subtle malt backbone. The carbonation is mild which suits the style and it finishes just a bit sweet and sticky on the palate w/ some lingering bitterness and astringency. This is a nice and drinkable brown ale if it had just a little more malt character w/o being any sweeter, I think it would be excellent.
3.4in the mug, a deep amber brown with a smallish tan head. aroma is malty and biscuit. nice malty taste with a slightly creamy mouth feel. nice slightly sweet warming finish. Really a pretty enjoyable nut brown.
