AleSmith Lil Devil

AleSmith Lil Devil

This unfiltered Belgian-Style Pale Ale pours a hazy gold with a creamy white head. Ground coriander seeds and two kinds of orange peel added to the kettle contribute pleasant citrus notes to its Belgian fermentation character. Lil’ Devil’s light body and effervescent finish make for a refreshing beer that will have you coming back for more.

3.7 330ml bottle. Pours golden brown with a light haze. Aroma is caramel malts, creamy texture with coriander and orange peel. Light body with a creamy texture. Soft carbonation and a light bitter finish.
3.1 Medium white head. Clear still yellow body. Fruity spicy banana aroma with mealy notes. Sweet fruity banana taste with light spicy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft, smooth mouthfeel, somewhat low carbonation. Sweetish fruity banana aftertaste with spicy notes. Stored this for too long, I think, because the flavour is kind of muted, and only the lovely fruit character remains. (0.355l bottle, from Kihoskh, Copenhagen.)
3.2 Draught at Taphouse. Clear orange colored with a small white head. Fruity aroma of caramel, hops and citrus. Fruity flavor of caramel and hops with notes of citrus and burnt sugar. Fruity finish.
3.4 Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 30A/24B). Bottle 35.5 cl - Batch unknown (BBF unknown). AROMA: medium-high aroma of oranges, pear drop and slight coriander. medium malty-sweet background with a slight alcohol note. APPEARANCE: gold color and clear. medium-low white head with low to no retention. TASTE: similar to the aroma with medium-low notes of oranges and slight pears. background of malt with a grainy-sweet impression. PALATE: medium-low body. medium carbonation. OVERALL: a nice belgian pale ale but where the added spices are beginning to fade.
4.0 DATE: December 29, 2017... OCCASION: boys' night with Shan out... GLASSWARE: a semi-cloudy, sallow yellow body that provides clusters of bubbles, building a finger of white head that doesn't sustain past the initial pour... from a safe distance, the pungent yeasts arrest the senses, while coriander pleasantly delivers the fruity, spicy hops--pepper, apple, thyme, soft cheese, herbal tea--that sing Belgian... this sips as it smells, breezy, soft as mineral water... the landing at the throat peacefully finds its mark... creamy, medium-bodied, and effervescent--smooth and rewarding... the flavor profile is decidedly herbal, with spicy Saaz centering the pepper, sweet dough malts, banana, apple, and citrus... I could see a six of this disappearing before my eyes... as clean and refreshing as a 6% ABV could reckon...
3.4 bottle. clear yellow, small white head. fruity and flowery aroma, belgian yeasty spicy frutiy notes but not wild yeasty notes. flavor is fruity, honey, malty, quite sweet overall, like a stronger belgian tripel might taste. Seems to not have the brett like belgian yeast flavors usually in this kind of beer, but other than that it tastes like a belgian style ale.
3.4 Tasted at gregwilsonstl's house. It poured a hazy golden color with a white head. The aroma was of citrus, coriander and malts. The taste was similar to the aroma with more citrus, coriander, malts and mild carbonation with a nice aftertaste. Good stuff.
3.8 Orange peels. Juicy. Sweet. Musty. Tasted at my Plants and Animals Bottle share.
3.5 It pours clear golden with a white head. The aroma has caramel, believe yeast, spiciness and kinda rich. It has a medium body with mild carbonation. The taste has aroma with lots of dryness and crackers and herbal spice. Pretty nice.

4.0 Bottle. Honey orange colour. Small creamy head. Aroma: spicy yeast, coriander, citrus fruit, some sweet malts. Light to medium body. The taste starts with malty & fruity sweetness. After that dry yeast & spice come in. Decent hoppiness at finish. Perfectly drinkable. Very good.
3.2 1 an après embouteillage. Blonde petite mousse tenue moyenne et carbo moyenne. Arôme abricot, banane type belge lefebvre triple/triple trappe. En bouche, acidité présente mais agréable. Sur les fruits jaunes et abricots. Rondeur pas mal pour son faible degré d'alcool. Agréable.

3.2 (thanks for sharing!) Sampled draft @ The Beavertown Extravaganza 2017. Day 1. Orange golden, creamy white head. Nose is massive banana, huge soap, cleaning products. Taste is all soap, extremely sweet BE banana, coriander seeds, bloody awful lingering coriander finish, esters. Soap & banana BE body. Unplesant BE caricurature which is what they were going for I assume, mission accomplished.

3.2 Bottle from Brewdog Soho. Pours medium orange and almost neon in the light with a thin subsiding foam. Scent is gorgeous, medium dense belgian weizen notes. Some faint ethanol and some herbs. Taste is very nice, medium bodied belgian weizen style with some sharpness and some herbs. A bit one-dimensional but still somewhat mature. Very good.
3.1 Draft - Fruity and bready. Clear gold with a small white head, bready and fruity esters, touch of Apple and a minute acidity. Some green apple.
3.5 A golden beer, a head is medium and blond. Aroma has fruitness of lemon, coriander, spicyness, some sweetness of fruits and popcorn. Taste has spicyness of coriander, fruitness and lemon. Medium bodied. Interesting, basicly witbier but more complex and richness, good beer.
2.5 355ml bottle (Baltic Broken Bus Beer Bash @ RBESG2017) (5:3:5:3:9=2.5) Perfumey, fruity, apple, tart’s handkerchief aroma. Fizzy palate. Watery feel. Taste predictable from the aroma, but surprisingly weak in the beer department, and the adjuncts do nothing for me in this context.
3.5 Medium head hazy gold pour mild carbonation aromas fruity esters grain herbal spice the flavours grain spice crisp citrus not much bitter a sweet ale but good on palate has lovely fermentation notes
