AleSmith Speedway Stout - Hawaiian

AleSmith Speedway Stout - Hawaiian

We often use Speedway Stout as a jet-black canvas for homages to things we hold dear, whether it’s artisan coffee, a favorite edible or sumptuous flavor combination. The most recent variation of our celebrated imperial stout honors the culinary character of the Hawaiian Islands by combining the lush sweetness of coconut with vanilla and Ka’u coffee. Named after the region of Hawaii from which it hails, Ka’u is produced from some of the world’s rarest coffee beans. Slow-grown beneficiaries of nutrient-rich volcanic soil and idyllic climate, Ka’u offers nuances of caramel and hazelnut plus a soft floral character, all of which marry seamlessly with natural sweetness from the vanilla and coconut as well as Speedway Stout’s inherently rich, chocolaty character. Say aloha to something truly exceptional and evocative of its namesake isles.

4.0 Draft at the source. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, coconut, vanilla. Finish is a bit sweet.
4.0 Deep black color and a tan head. Strong alcoholic touch, smooth, silky and rich. Hints of cocoa
5.0 Liquide noir avec mousse très courte et disparaissant rapidement. Nez torréfié café vanille coco avec une touche de caramel. En bouche, on retrouve la même complexité avec une présence de la vanille très marquée et bien soutenue par l'alcool ! Exceptionnelle !!!
4.1 Bottle, 75cl, at Håndverksølfestivalen. It pours an almost black body, topped by a finger-thick light tan head. Some curtains left. The aroma is quite roasted, and very pleasant, with coffee, dark chocolate, hints of alcohol, vanilla and coconut, and a good dash of caramel. It's full-bodied and very smooth on the palate, some alcohol warmth is present too, with a good dash of sweetness. Not really cloying though. The flavor has roasted malts, coffee, alcohol, dark chocolate, caramel notes, some coconut and caramel, and a tad more focus on the vanilla than in the aroma. Lasting finish. A delicious one indeed, and the coffee used sure don't ruin anything at all. 190608

Big fat body, smooth carbo.

4.0 Pitch black. Sweet, but smooth choclate, coconut just adding some extra pastry, not ruining anything, good alcohol. Really big sweet roasty and boozy impy flavour, warming, with enough bitterness. The coconut is used with care, working well.
4.0 From tap at Biercafe Au Trappiste, Bern. Black color with a tan colored head. The aroma is full of coffee along coconut flakes, toasted coconut, tart roasted malt, dark chocolate, molasses, some tobacco and vanilla - nice smell. Full body with a medium sweetness, a light to medium roasty bitterness and hints of booze. The flavor starts with coffee (albeit less intense than in the aroma), coconut, chocolate, dried fruits, sweet raisins, chocolate, hazelnuts, light medicinal notes, some alcohol and some vanilla. Finishes with a light roasty bitterness, sweetened coffee and lightly warming. Aroma: 8 Appearance: 4 Taste: 8 Palate: 4 Overall: 16

4.0 W aromacie kokos, taki trochę zielony, bardzo przyjemny, nie sztuczny. Poza tym kawa, nieco inna niż typowa i wanilia. Złożony i intensywny, super. Barwa czarna, piana ładna. W smaku pełne, czekoladowe, kawowe, kokosowe. Goryczka niska, alkohol lekko wyczuwalny, nie przeszkadza. Bardzo fajne, zbalansowane chyba brakuje beczki do takiej sztosowości.
4.9 Tap. Almost black beer with medium beige head. Strong Aroma of dark malt, coffee, port,, alcohol. Taste, dark malt, coffee, brandy, coconuts. Wood. Extemly tasty. #10000.
4.4 750ml bottle served in an Italian beer chalice. A: Pours an oily black color forming a medium sized brown creamy head with medium to low retention that forms and leaves only very few spotty lacings in the glass. S: Sweet nose: Strong notes of dark chocolate, roasted malts, coffee beans, caramel, licorice, vanilla, nuts and Oreo biscuit. T: Sweet upfront taste: Intense notes of dark chocolate, mocha coffee, caramel, roasted malts, licorice, vanilla and nuts. Perfect bittersweet balance. Grassy hops profile. Medium persistent bitterness. M: Full heavy, creamy, molasses body. VERY smooth texture. Low carbonation. Roasted malts, dark chocolate and coffee in the aftertaste. Perfect mouthfeel. O: Excellent drinkability. Masterpiece. [ Review @ 06/07/2019 ]
4.5 On tap in a snifter at AleSmith Observation Room Phenomenon imperial stout with Hawaiian coffee. I do not know how well this beer tastes out of a bottle, but I can tell you this, this is one of the best beers I've tasted. I think it all started with Speedway Stout. Good stuff makes better stuff. Aroma: great coffee scent with caramel and vanilla. I feel so many different levels in this beer, yet all flavors are just very well balanced. Honestly, I can feel the coconut flavor in the scent. Appearance: dark brown to black body with pale brown head like creama Flavor: roasted malt, caramel, coffee, vanilla, coconut, all rounded in one sip. Great flavor Mouthfeel: smooth finish. Heavy body. Overall: top beers, not just for imperial stout, but in all the beers I have had.
4.4 Aromi on erittäin monimutkainen, ja siinä on kookos, kahvi, tummaa suklaata. Maku on hieman roastavaa, mutta myös täynnä espressoa, suklaata ja kookospähkinää
4.4 Medium, creamy, beige head. Aroma of coffee, soy sauce, coconut, sweet spices, cocoa powder, some liquorice. Medium, moderate creamy mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation. Finishes dry, medium roasty, moderate sweet, with coffee, soy sauce, tobacco. Tasty. .

4.2 750 ml bottle from Beergium. Black body, with a medium, creamy, beige head. Aroma of coffee, soy sauce, coconut, sweet spices, cocoa powder, some liquorice. Tastes beautiful, quite similar, while creamier, with more dark chocolate. Medium, moderate creamy mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation. Finishes dry, medium roasty, moderate sweet, with coffee, soy sauce, tobacco, Very tasty. Smooth and balanced, with roasty and sweet notes very well dosed. Not that much coconut anymore, maybe the bottle is a bit older. Another lovely Speedway variant. Score: 8 / 4 / 9 / 4 / 17
