AleSmith Speedway Stout - Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee

AleSmith Brewing Company and Mostra Coffee are excited to announce our collaboration for AleSmith’s next single varietal Speedway Stout. Local coffee roaster, Mostra Coffee, has carefully roasted and cold brewed Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee beans to complement our award winning Speedway Stout. Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee beans are grown in the fertile soil of some of the highest Caribbean peaks, making it one of the most prized gourmet coffees in the world. This rare coffee uses lightly roasted Arabica beans to create a subtle acidity and well-balanced chocolaty finish. Thanks to Mosta’s diligent work, these 100% Blue Mountain beans were sourced from the renowned Mavis Bank Coffee Factory in Jamaica.

4.1 Keg at Craft Beer Co St Mary Axe. Coffee and liquorice aroma with underlying berries. Dark and glossy. Thick creamy head. Light bitter with warming booze. Some restrained berries. Medium bodied. Creamy. Average carbonation. Long finish. Yum. The review was whilst talking to colleagues so doesn't do it justice.

3.4 Aroma: Fruity coffee, chocolate, liquorice. Appearance: Opaque black with minimal brown head. Taste: A bit sweet, roasted acidity, some booze. Palate: Medium body, low carbonation. Overall: Average, I expected a lot more high quality coffee.
4.6 2014 Vingage. 750ml bottle. I'm still a sucker for Speedway. Poured a black color with a brown head. Coffee beans, roast chocolate, fudge, vanilla, and roast. Smooth and easy to drink.
4.0 Nice coffee flavour. Could be a bit thicker
4.1 Draught @ MBCC 2018, Red Session Pours black with a tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, vanilla and alcohol. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and medium bitter with a long warm, chocolate, coffee and vanilla finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carboantion is soft.
4.1 From tap at The Alehouse, Zürich. Nearly black dark mahogany color with a light red-brown head. Lots of coffee in the aroma - freshly brewed coffee, hot coffee grounds - in front of sweetish roasted malt (toffee, caramel, some molasses, brown sugar. Very nice smell! Full creamy body with a medium sweetness and a light to medium bitterness along some booze. The flavor starts again with lots of coffee with more sweetish malt in the back - brown sugar, chocolate, caramel, toffee, some nuts. Finishes with a decent roasty bitterness, more coffee and a lightly warming feeling. Really nice, intense but never harsh coffee aromas supported by a sweet but not cloying malt body. Excellent sipper. Aroma: 8 Appearance: 4 Taste: 8 Palate: 4 Overall: 17
4.5 Tap at brewery. Brown pour. Sweet sugary boozy aroma. Caramel heavy speedway lots of maple syrup action goin on. Long sweet syrup. Bomb. Still another where I think the og is supreme.
4.6 deep dark brown, almost black colour, moderate sized dense brown head, which collapses within a few minutes leaving back some beige lacing; aroma of capuccino, dark chocolate, some licorice, hints of soy sauce, capuccino, capuccino, some capuccino...have I mentioned capuccino? - because it has capuccino, too :) taste of coffee, dark chocolate, chocolate mousse, chocolate liqueur, some dry woody-tart notes and some syrupy notes;amazing 'beer'!
4.3 Tap at Hopa. Jet black pour, beige head. Coffee bomb, earthy notes, malts, sweet booze are in the nose and taste in an incredible harmony. Super smooth thick body, soft carbo. Lovely.
4.4 Black, very small head. Coffee, toffee, sweet licorice, chocolate, vanilla, light light coconut, some bourbon. There's much more in here that's hard to pinpoint in a crowded bar. Very tasty, one of the best I've had in a while.
4.4 Draft at BierCAB In Barcelona. Darkest brown with a large lasting tan head. Aroma is big coffee, roast, dark chocolate. Flavor is disgusting. Big smooth deep rich coffee and chocolate. Smooth and full feel. Not gonna lie, this is pretty sick.

4.1 Black with a silky and dense beige head. Aromas of roasted barley and coffee grounds. Taste has chocolate, licorice, coffee maybe a little nutty bitterness. Coffee is actually well integrated here. No green peppers or anything of that sort. Creamy texture, soft suds. Lingering coffee and dark chocolate aftertaste.
3.9 Taster at Weathered. Appearence: very dark brown, beige head Aroma: coffee Taste: coffee, some booziness Body: moderate to high Overall: good one

4.4 4oz at Cappy's for the Speedway event on 11/29/18. Black pour with a thick light brown head. Aroma of malt, chocolate and coffee. Malt and chocolate flavor with a rich coffee finish. Like the Vietnamese, it really brings out the chocolate flavors in the beer without providing overpowering roastiness.
4.3 Sample at MBCC 2018. A black beer with a beige head. Aroma and flavour of coffee, chocolate, caramel, dark dried fruit, licorice, sweetness and with a bitter roasted finish.
4.0 Black with a brown head - Dark malt and coffee aroma - Dark malt body with a good coffee flavour with some bitterness - The dark malt flavour with coffee with some bitterness goes into the finish - This was real good
4.3 On tap at The Trappist. Pours near black with an attractive tan head and a chocolate and coffee aroma. There is a full-bodied dark molasses flavor with a very tasty amalgamation of chocolate and coffee. Very roasty.
4.2 Keg at The Bar. Nose is sweet roast, coffee, liquorice, dark fruits, little syrup. Tastes intense, loads of coffee but still smooth and drinkable, roast, sweetish, cola, little liquorice, warming alcohol. Superb.
3.5 On tap at Luppolo Station in Rome. Dark coffee bea. Pour with a light brownish foam. Nose: coffee powder with a pinch of grassy aroma which does not go so bad with the overall. Mouthfeel: easy roast start, nice, frappe-like start, esile in a way...not bad, mind you. Short sharp finish. It is not the beer it was imo, nice anyway.
3.7 On tap @Luppolo Station (Rome).
4.0 Appearance: Very dark brown, near black. Nice, dark tan head. Aroma: Dark malt, roasted, dark chocolate, coffee. Taste: Very dark malt, roasted, coffee. Strong, almost harsh. Slight alcohol. Bought: Taphouse (Copenhagen), 100 ml tap, ~DKK 33.00 Info: 19/10-2018
3.7 Growler from Hop City Midtown split between GWL Atlanta and the beach house. Honestly, good but I liked the Vietnamese variant much better. This had some ashy coffee and mild bitterness. Still tasty.
