22 oz bomber. #1404 out of 2009. This beer was pretty good. Poured a pitch black, with a dark brown medium head. Aroma is bourbon, sweet, roasted, with hints of chocolate and both regular and brown sugar. The flavor is pretty heavy on the bourbon alcohol, with creamy, chocolates, with roasted malts, and a strong caramel taste.
4.0Bottle. Prepare your liver. Pours dark and murky, the head a quick fizzle and gone. The aroma, I think, peeled paint off my office wall, full of liquor. This is a slow sipper for sure, extremely sweet and rich, laced heavily with whiskey. (#6809, 10/25/2017)

Bottle. Pitch, silky black, with a mere hint of a head. The initial whiff is decidedly whiskey-laden. The beer drinks with a nicely placed medicinal burn of mellow bourbon, well laced within a light-bodied, sweet porter. Not quite as nicely finessed as the best in this class. (#4804, 10/21/2012)
3.6Pouring into snifter with little to no head. Dark chocolate with cherries. Nice balance of alcohol. Would drink this again. Great beer.
4.0Nice all around. Dark dark pour, dark tan head. Aroma of the barrel, vanilla, caramel, light roast. Flavor is boozy but not overly so. Very nice sipper.
3.9A very good bourbon barreled Porter. Pours a deep black with a thick brown head. Smells of bourbon, vanilla, ice cream and nuts. Taste is super thick, with lots of vanilla ice cream, bourbon, and some port in the finish. Had in the bottle.

4.0Bottle shared by oRos. Pours near black with a short tan head and a treacle and bourbon aroma. There is a full-bodied sweet dark molasses flavor with a vanilla and bourbon finish. Yes, lots of bourbon.
3.8Bottle shared by alexsdad06 pour dark cola brown with thin tan head. Nose light Bourbon, dark fruit, light vanilla, cherry. Taste sweeter red fruit, cherry, light barrel, light vanilla late. Sweeter character. Light roasted in the finish.
4.3Pours a dark brown color with a tan head. Aroma is of bourbon, sugar, caramelized sugar, vanilla, some booziness, and smoke. Medium palate. Flavor is of malts, chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, oak, and some toastiness. Leaves a chocolate bourbon malt finish.
3.9Bottle share. Dark brown pour with a modest beige cap. Aroma is rich with bourbon barrel notes, sweet vanilla and fudge. A bit boozy. Big flavors of sweet vanilla and chocolate accented heavily by the barrel treatment. Lightly bittersweet, but mostly sweet. Definitely feels like a big boozy desert beer.
4.222oz bottle from share on 6/11/16. Dark brown, muddy pour capped off with a small beige, tight head. Barrel aging takes center stage in aroma and taste.Bourbon really brings out the smoky, chocolaty nature of the porter. Really knocked my socks off.
4.1Bottle, from b3shine-- thanks Beau! Shared with Parksy and others on his birthday. Dark brown pour, copper highlights, low beige head. Lovely chocolate and bourbon flavours with woody undertones, rich and silky smooth, very full bodied. The finish is very dry, with assertive tannins and moderate bitterness. A well made, well balanced black bourbon brew.
3.7Tasting at Ferris’
Black color, medium sized head. Aroma of alcohol and some Bourbon, eggs. Good body strength; chocolate flavor, but this one is really heavy on booze and Bourbon.
I like this kind of beers, it’s not really balanced though.
4.1Pitch black pour with very little head. Smells like a bourbon caramel candy. I’m excited about this one.. Sweet, dark fruit, tons of vanilla, and boozy. This is yummy.
3.9Bottle - Big boozy bourbon notes. Deep dark brown with a small light brown head. Very balanced bourbon, Woody and dark notes. Nice balance.
4.0Bottle. Pours a very dark brown almost black color with a small brown head. A big malty roast bourbon nose. Chocolate, ashy, vanilla, big bourbon throughout, some rum like fruitiness, wood. Licorice, dark fruit, the overall flavor is big malty sweetness. Very good.
3.6Sample on sunday. Big bourbon beer with a faint base beer. Lots of sweet and spicy bourbon aromas. Sweet and hot bourbon flavors. Maybe let it sit a bit as the bourbon really dominates at this point. A whole bomber by myself would be a challenge but I’d do it.
3.8Large shared bottle.
Rich and rather boozy although the alcohol is well hidden in the mouthfeel. Still, warms as swallowed. Light wood but plenty of whisky in this ale. Full body with good if light carbonation. Bitter sweet with too much booze in the flavor.
4.8I’m sort of speechless right now. This is one of the most intense smelling beers I’ve experience. In a good way of course. Of all the bourbon beers I’ve had, this one actually kicks up the bourbon aroma in a big way. There’s a huge bourbon, vanilla, and chocolate aroma that fills the air around the glass. There’s also hints of oak and cigar tobacco; I don’t really know how else to describe it. Not going to see anything through the absolute pitch black color of this one. Taste has a lot going on. There’s a massive amount of bourbon, some chocolate, oak, and vanilla. There’s nothing subtle about this amazing beer. All the flavors are big and work so perfectly together. This was an absolute experience, I definitely dug this. Drink it slow and enjoy all the awesome flavor.
3.522oz bomber shared by Dan. Poured black with a small creamy tan head. Big boozy bourbon aroma, with notes of oak, caramel, vanilla, and dark malts. Taste mimics the nose with a lingering burnt toast aftertaste.
3.6Sampled at Great American Beer Festival 9/24/15. Aroma of dark malts, light roast, chocolate, light oak, vanilla and light bourbon. Similar flavor. Pretty nice overall.
4.0on tap at DoG Gastropub in Williamsburg, VA; black with very little head; nice roasted malt, mild bourbon, and oak aroma; smooth, sweet roasted malt flavor with notes of bourbon, vanilla, and oak; very sweet - definitely a dessert beer
3.922oz bottle pours dark brown black with finger and a half of light tan head. Nose has some nice fruity vanilla marshmallow bourbon chocolate, touch of licorice and some dark fruit. Taste is medium bodied, some semi sweet marshmallow, chocolate, light oak, char, a touch of molasses, roasty cacao. Finishes with fairly well integrated vanilla oak and light wood spice, dark fruity chocolate and some nutty licorice. A touch more heft to the body could have improved this, but a solid offering overall.
3.9On tap at Brookland Pint in Brookland, Washington, DC.
Opaque, near black with a fine, khaki head and excellent lacing.
Aroma of roasted malt, vanilla, chocolate, bourbon, licorice, sugar and coconut.

Medium body and medium carbonation.
