A highly hopped contemporary India Pale Ale. Brewed with copious amounts of Cascade and Amarillo hops, this IPA is balanced nicely with a strong malt body. A great beer for any occasion.
Brewed originally as the beer ration for British troops in India, it was preserved with extra hops and higher alcohol for the long sea voyage. India Pale Ale, IPA as it is usually referred to, has become America’s second most popular microbrewery style. If you enjoy a rich, aggressive hop flavor, this is your ale of choice.

2.912 oz bottle. Thanks Andy Skaggs! Pours a clear light orange with fading white head. Aroma is biscuit, bread and mild hop notes. Flavor is mild, more malt than hops. Slight oxidation, I doubt this was fresh. I’ve had several times, I’ve always thought it was average.
3.012oz bottle. Pours an amber color with minimal head. Toasty biscuit aroma along with floral hop notes. Resinous bitter hop flavor. Light to medium bodied with mellow bitter finish. Average among IPAs.
3.3Ok. Some light hops. Pours clear orange without much head and lacing. Finishes malty with light note of bitterness. Tap at DC Beer festival.
3.2Decent East Coast IPA, hits all the right notes without being outstanding in any one category. Still a good quaff.
3.3From a 12 oz bottle at home. Pours a clear gold with a thick off white head. Floral hop nose. Flavors of citrus with a caramel malt backbone. Medium bodied, high carbonation, bitter finish.
3.3FROM NOTES: July 10, ’12
Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a pint glass.
A: Sweet citrus and some caramel malt dominate the aroma.
A: Pours a hazy amber color with almost no foam whatsoever.
T: Like the nose, lots of caramelly notes, very rich and deep. Odd for the style but not unpleasant. Some floral hops in the finish.
P: Sweet, almost cloying, but offset by the hop bitterness. Pretty heavily bodied for an IPA. With a package of carbonation and some alcohol.
O: Not like every other IPA though I think it does fit the style. Very sessionable.
3.4original rating: 10/20/13
aroma of citrus hops and grain scents. pours a reddish gold, bordering on amber, with white head. tastes of grapefruit, orange rinds, caramel, grains. bitter but no complexity in hop flavor bitterness, boring. palate is nicely carbonated and full. overall, standard east coast IPA flavors, but said flavors are weak. strongest features of this beer are the appearance and the palate.
2nd sample 10/26/13
aroma of tropical fruit, bread. lots of mango and pineapple. pours a reddish gold, bordering on amber, with soapy white head. little lacing. tastes of mango, pineapple, grapefruit, orange rinds, caramel. sweetness comes in bursts near the end of the taste, caramel and cereal. unbalanced in that regard. palate is nicely carbonated but a little thin. overall, a very fruity ipa, lots of tropical fruit and citrus. this brew is better than the first sample I had, likely due to it being bottled 10/22, four days ago.
3.4355ml Bottle as a gift from Virginia:
Sweet with some tropical fruit notes and caramel to begin with followed by some malts and a faint bitterness. There is some pine coming through as well as some light floral notes but the aroma is not the strongest.
Medium amber with a thin, half centimetre head that is frothy looking and holds well.
Sweet malts and caramel as well as a lot of bitterness. There an almost perfume like taste that has some pine and tropical fruits in there too. A little bit of citrus gets through as well and yet more bitterness to round things off with.
Light-medium body with light-medium carbonation as well, a very bitter kick from the hops and some sweetness too.
Definitely a drinkable beer but if I’m honest it’s not a classic IPA nor one I’d be likely to try again although I did enjoy it, I just felt that the bitterness was a little to much when coupled with sweet caramel.
3.2bottle. hazy golden orange with small head. medium malt body with strong hops that seem a bit dull.
3.3June 2010. Sampled at the brewery. Amber color, white head. Hops, citrus and floral aromas. Nice mouthfeel, but a bit too much caramel for my taste.
1.4New rating 2016: Generally I don’t re-rate beers but I must say, this is way more bitter today in a bottle than I remember. Strong dull hop aroma thud. So bitter in the mouth, near double IPA range. Pretty much flat or at least that what the impact wants me to think. Long lasting palate wrecking finish. Quite surprized considering how mild my first sample was. Difficult fer sure..................Old rating 2013: 52428 - clear pale with big white head. mild clean beery smell. quite strong initially but not as rude as expected. yes, a milder ipa that may be not over the top for a lager lover. glad to have had a chance to catch this beer.
3.512 oz. bottle shared by DrSilverworm- thanks again, Chris! Pours a clear gold with a small white head. Notes of pale and sweet malts, citrus fruits, crackers, grass, and floral notes. Light-medium bodied, with a citrusy mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Solid summer IPA.
2.5Sampled on draft at the House of 1000 beers this beer poured an apricot color with a medium sized foamy white head that faded quickly and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was bitter, vague candied fruits, a touch dry and had a hint of cardboard. The flavor was bitter, dryish and a bit tangy with vague fruity hops, cardboard, and touches of honey and bred. Medium length bitter and tangy fruity hops finish. Medium body. Meh.
3.56er from beer run. Fruity orange aroma. Good body and caramel malt. Orange flavor finish.
4.3Hoppy aroma. Very floral taste with great after taste. Great use of hop selection.
3.212 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Poured a cloudy dark amber with a little white head that went away quite quickly, decent lacing. Aroma is very hoppy as a good IPA should; I also could find some pine and citrus. Taste is a well balanced combination of hops and sweet caramel mixed with some citrus flavors. Nice dry finish, very nice beer.
3.2Bottle. Pours golden with a big fluffy white head. Aroma is piney hops. Taste is very malt forward with a caramel like base and a citrusy finish. Palate is soft and full. Well-balanced beer but not super exciting.
3.4THOUGHTS: Nothing crazy. Just a well-made IPA. Nice balance and great transition.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a light to medium orange with a small, off-white head that mostly diminished an left good lacing. The aroma contained moderate bread, caramel and cracker; light pine, orange and other citrus hops; eventually heavy resinous hops; and apricot. The initial flavor was lightly sweet and moderately bitter; while the finish was moderately sweet and nearly heavily bitter with a long duration. There was caramel, pale malt, bread, cracker, citrus hops, pine hops, resinous hops, orange and apricot. The medium body was a little oily with fizzy carbonation and a dry and slightly metallic finish.
3.3Bottle->SA. Hazy copper/gold with small offwhite head. Aroma: hops, citrus and pine. Taste: pine, citrus, somewhat unbalanced. Average IPA.
3.4Tap. Pours hazy golden amber with a medium off-white head and nice lacing. Aroma is faint with notes of citrus, pine and passionfruit. Flavor is the same, not much sweetness, light metal on the otherwise dry crisp finish. Light bodied and a bit watery.
3.1Bottled, yellow golden pour with some white foam, tends to be a little light but nice caramel Nd biscuit with some citrus as well
3.1Bottle. Appearance: clear golden orange with sudsy white head. Aroma: floral and citrusy and piney, sweet malt, touch of doughy yeast. Taste: mild floral and grassy hops at the beginning with biscuits in middle, and ending with floral and lingering very bitter pine hops. Mouthfeel: thin body with high carbonation. Overall: I remember really loving this beer the first time I had it, but now that my palate has changed it's really not that good. Too unbalanced with little malt and too much yeast flavor to offset the heavy hop profile.
3.112 ounce bottle. Pours a slightly hazy amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of citrus, malt, and florals. Taste is citrus, caramel malt, a bit of pine, and a bit of florals. Decent.
3.5Smooth, hoppy, balanced. A pretty standard IPA. Not particularly outstanding, but nothing to dislike. Fairly dry, trailing finish. Lacking in the citrus, fruit, spice of others, but more lightly malty. Not bad, but not a favorite.
3.2Straw to golden in color. Decent hop aroma, nice body with bittering that lingers, but not a lot of citrus or pine, if you like that sort of thing. Overall, pretty well done - would possibly be in my regular rotation if I could get it at home.
3.812oz poured into a pint glass. Pours a clear amber with an off white head. Aromas of grassy hops. Hops apparent throughout but nicely balanced. Alcohol hard to detect at all. Mouthfeel medium. Overall a good beer.
3.9Single 12 oz from Philly bottle shop. I am surprised this beer didnt get a higher rating -I really enjoyed the unfiltered flavor of hops from this extremely drinakable IPA. It exceeded my expectations. I would like to have another.
3.412oz bottle, purchased for $2. Good thin khaki head, clear amber color. Good lace. Nice lighter soft carbonation, dry finish. Nice caramel malts, spicy hop flavor. Little bitter and sweetness. Not bad, drinkable IPA.
3.4Bottle 355 ml
Aroma: clean, crisp ,fresh straight hop character. Milder sweet character behind. Solid.7+
Appearance: light haze on amber Nice mid sized white top.4-
Palate / Taste: Medium bodied with fuller walls. Candy sweet base. Good friendly approach. Quiet drinkable.
3.0Solid, hoppy IPA. Nothing offensive here, but also nothing mind blowing or special. Not too sweet for a hot day and just dry enough to be pleasntly crisp but still refreshing.
