Alexander Keith's India Pale Ale

Alexander Keith's India Pale Ale

Nova Scotia’s most popular beer, Alexander Keith’s India Pale Ale is fully fermented, mellow-aged for smoothness and uses balanced North American flavour and bittering hops to create a unique, malty flavour. Alexander Keith’s India Pale Ale is smooth with a slightly floral hop character and a sweet flavour delivery.

2.2 A 12 oz from the tap at the Red Stag, Halifax and consumed on the patio. Very average IPA
2.6 On draft at grand central bar and grill in Niagara Falls Ontario. Pours a clear gold with an off white head. Aromas are melon and grass. Flavors are moderately bitter pine.
2.6 A bit of graininess with a cloying sweetness. Very mild blonde ale style despite the IPA claim on the bottle. Not great but not unpleasant either, more drinkable than a lot of other macro blonds.
2.5 Bright yellow color with a nice white head and strong carbonation. The aroma is floral and grain with grassy notes and a greenness in the flavor. The taste is mildly sweet. More of a pale ale than IPA.
2.4 Tap at Hurley's @YUL. Listed as "Pale Ale" but must be this one. Golden colour, small white head. Light apple fruityness in the nose. Light-bodied. Pale malty, slightly fruity, low bitterness, fizzy. Close to lager, only ipa by its name.
Nose has corn, lemon, and.... nothing else. Flavor is the same, corn, malt, lemon, straw. Watery finish.
1.6 Can at the 7/27 DC RateBeer tasting. Clear yellow with off-white head. Aromas of water, floral. Tastes watery. Light body with a dry finish. Watery mouthfeel.
3.1 Can. Overall pleasant, refreshing, but I am confused of IPA in the name. For instance, no bitter finish at all, rather a lager. Ratebeer says golden ale/blond ale, but should have more "bite'.
1.5 341ml Flasche. Klar und golden mit kleiner Schaumkrone. Muffig. Getreidig. Spritzig. Sehr leichter Körper. Fast geschmacklos.
3.3 The 'standard' IPA in Canada It'snot completely terrible but it has very few things going for it. Light, not much taste and no remarkable aftertaste 6 /10
1.9 The infamous Alexander Keiths. Had no idea aboot the history of this beer until I had the chance to try it last week at the July DC RB mini-tasting. Poured a clear, pale fizzy yellow beer color with a fizzy, white head. Smells like a lager. Tastes pretty much like a lager. Light corn, herbal hops. Sweet malt finish. No sense of it being an IPA at all.
2.4 Finally got to try it. As bad as I could have imagined. So happy to finally try it. I mean. It really. You know. It's like a cream Ale.
2.2 Valemount 17/7 2018. 34,1 cl bottle at Don’s Social House. A red Elk head on a green label. The tagline is “The Pride of Nova Scotia”. Pours clear yellow with medium-sized white head. Settles as thin almost transparent layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Climbing up the side of the glass. Moderate lacing. Aroma is sourish and not particularly intense. Fresh grass, citrus. A little acerbic. Medium carbonation. Thin, watery texture. Flavor is medium sweet followed by medium bitterness. Aftertaste is lightly bitter with sweetish notes and a little watery. To call this an India Pale Ale is straight out weird. It smells and taste of Pale Lager.
2.9 not bad, for a IPA.... if you like that kind of shit
3.2 Bottle. Pale golden color, white head. Honeyed aroma. Smooth, malty flavor with a hint of hops in the finish. Light body, medium carbonation. Not bad for a lager — but it doesn’t strike me as an IPA.
2.0 Not bad for the price, not anything incredible but it’s definitely enjoyable. Decently hoppy with a mild bitter taste, as far as an IPA goes though it is a bit bland. I recommend it for the price range.
1.5 Can. Pours slightly hazy golden without head. Really watery. Hint of hops, no malt to speak of. Bad.
2.1 Plechovka. Bledsia zlata farba, slaba biela pena. Vona sladova, zelezita, mierne citrus. Chut slaba, vodova, zelezita.
2.0 On tap at Ye Olde Squire, Burlington, Ontario. Pours clear golden with a small white head. Aroma: pale malts, vague hint of hops. Taste: light to moderate sweet, cereals, corn, light citrus. Light body, average carb, short grainy light sweet finish. IPA my arse!
1.1 Drinking temperature was at 7,5 degrees celsius. There is nothing to write about this ale except for the fact that it has a slightly bitter note. No barley, no malt, undefined and shallow hops perhaps a very slight hint of citric mineral. I don´t understand the hype about this utterly plain tasting beer. It is neither exciting nor nuanced just...bland. Rated at 1.1 points, ISA. "Intrinsically Stale Ale"
1.5 There is no way to call this an ipa. It tastes more like a Budweiser really. Very poor beer. Had at the Saddledome in Calgary.
2.5 The beer has got a hazy golden colour with a small head and medium body. Aroma of hops and bread. taste of hops, bread, pine, citrus and straw. Hints of dust and Basement.
2.5 Can. Very bland, esp. for an IPA. No off-flavors, but nothing compelling about it either. Very muted hop nose and aroma.
2.0 Sampled on draught. Golden colour with a white head. No aroma and a sweet, slightly creamy taste. Some citrus and floral notes maybe, but extremely bland. Thin and very light, with poor mouthfeel and zero aftertaste. Definitely not an IPA.
2.2 Can@AuntMackenzie it pours clear with a small White head isn't an IPA, thin mouthfeel ... desent lager ;)
3.1 341ml Flasche aus Kanada. Hellbraunes klares Bier, heller Schaum. Malzig harziger Duft und Geschmack. Earlier Rating: 3/8/2016 Total Score: 2.2 341ml Flasche. Gelbes Bier, flacher Schaum. Grasiges Aroma, wenig Hopfen. Geschmack ist eher kräuterig. Kein IPA!
2.9 Bottle - did not pour out of bottle, full bodied, mild earthy hop aroma and flavor, not really an “IPA”, ok overall, easy to drink
1.0 If someone tried the Keith's that comes from its native Nova Scotia, it is a very good beer. It was always brewed there and imported throughout Canada. Unfortunately its owner "AB-INBEV" decided to capitalize and brew it in Ontario as well, selling it for the same import costs and distribute it locally to save and bank the import costs, thus compromising the quality and integrity of the beer. If anyone is in eastern Canada I encourage them to try AK as it is originally crafted, with the same water/ingredients. Otherwise it is nothing more than an imitation ( and completely different tasting) from the old fashioned AK.
5.0 Earlier Rating: 12/6/2017 Total Score: 5 There's a reason why this is the #1 Beer in the Maritimes. A deliciously crisp ale that is refreshing with no bitter after taste.
