3.9 Pours a hazy golden yellow with a foamy white head. Lemony aroma with light spices. Medium body. Smooth with some light Belgian spices and hints of sweet vanilla and oak. Hides the alcohol well. The barrel aging counters the normal dryness of a Tripel. Much smoother and not harsh at all. Finishes with a lingering spicy warmth. Pretty enjoyable.
Ok+
3.4 Bottle from Systembolaget beställningssortiment. Hazy golden with a medium white head. Sweet with yeast, malt, light oak and hints of spices. Warming alcohol in the finish.
3.9 Flaska från systembolaget. Gyllengul öl med vitt skum. Trevlig öl med fina toner av jäst, örter, citron, kryddor, ek och bourbon. Torr fin avslutning.
3.8 Flaska från SB. Klar, ljusguldig med vit krona. Maltigt, jäst, snäll kryddighet, vete, spannmål, popcornkärnor, något het med mycket smak från Bourbon. Lätt ton av smörkola.
3.8 Unclear golden color, medium sized white head. Aromas of citrus, honey, vanilla, yeast, wheat, bananas and bourbon. Taste of yeast, alcohol, honey, bananas, citrus and slight bourbon.
3.9 Flaska systembolaget. Gul vätska. Doft av citrus, jäst, äpple, druva och fat. I smak känns trä, citrus, vanilj, druva och lite mandelmassa. Fyllig och komplex

4.0 Holds it own next to the best Trappist tripels.
1.6 Too strong
4.6 Bottle from Total Wine and More in Reston, VA Aroma: bourbon, Belgian yeast, vanilla, woody, alcohol Appearance: clear golden with a white head Taste: medium sweetness, medium bitterness Mouthfeel: average carbonation, medium body, creamy feel, long finish Delicious
4.2 12 oz. bottle from Total Wine, Raleigh, NC (North Hills). Bottled July 23, 2020 and listed at 10.4% ABV. Slightly hazy yellowish-orange pour with a frothy white head. Not much in the way of aroma but there are some faint orange peel and Belgian candi sugar notes. The taste is not all that different from a standard high-end tripel but the subtle bourbon, vanilla, and oak adds a nice touch. A great beer! (Replaces an earlier review from May 2014. 4.2 overall in both reviews.)
4.5 10.4% Belgian Tripel aged in oak bourbon barrels. Has classic Belgian flavor with bourbon and vanilla notes
4.0 12 oz bottle. Pours hazy golden with tall, long-lasting, foamy white head and nice lacing. Aroma is of yeast, spices, biscuit malt, grassy hops and ripe fruit. Body is full, creamy and tangy. Herbal hops, Belgian yeast, wheat malt and ripe fruit fill the mouth. Finish is long and spicy. Nice brew.
4.2 Takes a bit getting used to. I love Belgian ales, and I like Kentucky bourbon barrel ale. The two together are an interesting marriage. The bourbon is not on the forefront but clearly there if you’re looking for it. Everything else is a decent Belgian ale so all in all I’m quite happy with it.
3.9 12oz bottle from Craft Beer Cellar in Pewaukee as Allagash reappears in WI. Pours golden orange. Aroma has barrel & citrus. Yeasty, with Belgian spices; clove, a bit of banana, lemon. The barrel exists, but is more a solid component than the lead. Taste is also barrelly, more of the lead. Also there is citrus, cloves, and lemon. A solid barrel is always excellent, although a bit incongruous in this case. Medium bodied, there is a bit of an alcohol presence, and the blend is good. Finishes nicely blended between citrusy bitter and barrelly sweet. A very unique brew, and from reading the reviews of Rate 'friends', it has been similar for 15+ years. 14.7
4.6 Great
4.1 10th anniversary edition, 1/1000 bottles. Hazy gold color. Light got wheat bourbon aroma. Flavors of biscuit, honey and bourbon. Deliciously light but full flavored.
3.5 Keg at The Portland International Beer Festival on 20/07/2008. A nice Triple with lots of woody and oaky notes. The Bourbon flavours mix nicely, and takes it a fair way from a traditional example.
4.9 12 oz bottle rating. Purchased at City Beer in San Francisco. Gold body and slightly hazy. Minimal head. This is the beer! Oh my Lord, this is good. This is what God intended as the standard for great beer. Tripel with bourbon barrel aging. This is as close to perfection as I've tasted in my long beer rating. These kind of beers do not come along often. Pretty close to perfection.
3.5 Bottle from Total Wine And More, Laguna Hills, Ca. Cloudy golden with white head. Malts, hops, Belgiany yeast, spices, herbs.
4.1 On tap at the brewery. Why the hell does this beer even work. A tripel? In bourbon barrels?! Somehow it works extremely well. Sweet honey malt, Belgian yeast, big bourbon and oak notes, a hint of vanilla. Not only does it work but it's smooth as hell. This goes down way too easy.
4.1 Nose slightly lemony with a slight breadiness. Some minerally-spritzy notes. Medium body, moderately sweet with candy sugar notes. Some oak flavor. Slight bitterness and subtle hop flavor, nicely balanced. Nice bitter finish with no harshness. A great tripel.
4.2 Yeah, tripel, Allagash and Jim Beam . I’m on board. Appropriated this 12 oz bottle at a decent but pricey bottle shop in NYC, glad to have it. Pouring into my tulip shaped ABGB glass, a quite clear, yellow body with a pearlescent white head. The scent is white bread and honey. I drink, spun sugar, meadow, yeast and some spiciness. Some burn, from the bourbon barrels I guess. Very tasty, I approve heartily, better than their regular tripel.
4.0 11%ABV. Belgian golden strong ale. Poured out gold. 8°SRM. Nose has aromas of vanilla, coconut, bourbon, oak. There are some sweeet creamy aromas that suggest cream wafers. Yeast aromas suggest banana, clove. Sweet with an almost corn syrup fullness. There are some fruity esters that suggest pear, apple, and orange. Mouthfeel is light and dry. Palate has flavors of honey wafers, references to dates, black ume. Hop flavors are woody, floral. Finish is dry. Overall, a nice dry fruity, sweet, woody ride made interesting by its depth and complexity. To be slowly sampled and appreciated as it evolves in the glass.
4.4 This is a big beer, but still very refreshing. Pale golden color, spicy, fruity and well balanced with an oaky/vanilla bourbon flavor. Great beer
4.4 Delicious, smooth, complex, rich, balanced flavors. Be careful the high alcohol content will sneak up on you.
4.5 gift - many thanks to Cristobal37! hazy yellow colour, medium sized dense white head; aroma of wine cellar, earthy, banana, orange zest and vanilla notes; taste is the same with some bourbon notes; amazing beer!
4.4 0.355l bottle thanks to Cristobal37. Murky golden body with a white head. Aroma of honey, oak, orange and lime zest. Taste of orange zest, honey, oak, wood and spicy hops. It has a nice residual sweetness that makes it well rounded. Great beer!
