Similar to Victoria, but red grapes (Chancellor) were used in place of white.

3.9750ml bottle: This one pours a hazy Amber color. Minimal head and no lacing. Good nose. Notes of red wine from the grapes. Yeasty and breadiness evident. Some sweet candy sugar and caramel malts. The taste is very good. Some red wine flavors, as well as sweet malts, yeast and candy sugar. Very smooth. I would definitely buy this again.
3.5Bottle. Poured a dark amber color, light off-white head. Aroma was light, cookie, sweet malts, grain. Some earthy hops. Touch of red wine notes. Light vinous character, dried fruits, some light grain, earthy notes. Tasty, and I love Allagash, but this was a pretty pricy purchase for what it was.
3.6Grape beer (so should perhaps be classified as a fruit beer), tasted some years ago, thanks Lieven. Cloudy brownish bronze colour, thin off-white head, quickly disappearing (I guess the oil from the grape seeds could be responsible for this). Very fruity, pleasant, vinous aroma, grapes of course, orange, peach, banana, flowers, toasted bread, honey, pepper, hints of spice. Fruity, estery, ’Belgian’ taste, grapes clearly there with wine-like effect, honeyish and caramelly malt sweetness, thinnish mouthfeel, touch of peppery hop bitterness in the finish with a whiff of warming, bourbon-like alcohol. Very nice and interesting, since grape beers remain a rarity.
3.6750 ml bottle. 2013 vintage. Mostly clear gold color with the lace in a Allagash chalice, thin lace down the sides as I drank. Aroma shows a subtle red grape, house yeast, and a moderate level of sugar.
Body has some of the sugar I am smelling with a mild malt billing. The sugar almost covers the red grape notes, gives a light Welch’s juice character. Mildly light a red wine but more like a juice. This maybe a nice gateway brew if I ever want to convert a wine drinker into the craft beer world. Vinous notes are here without question and it was a nice enough drink.
3.3Not as good as Victoria but a nice strong ale with a small hint of sour ale that doesn't linger or overwhelm. Nice strong ale, not the best though.
3.3Keg at World of Beer Charlottesville, 11/19/14. Pours a slightly hazy amber with a thin fizzy off-white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of caramel, doughy malt, mild cherries and other fruits. The taste is tart stone fruits, citrus, caramel, yeast, spice. Medium bodied, lingering spice.
3.4On tap at Cask and Vine while enjoying the company of Todd the Hoople.
Lightly hazy deep straw with hints of purple. Fruity earthy spicy aromas and flavor with a bit of a jelly or jam edge to it. Interesting brew a bit outside of the box, not something I’d have often but glad I got to try it.
3.9Aromas of red berries, red wine, pinot noir maybe, earthy. Hazy pinkish red, fully lasting white head. Fruity, pretty dry, savory. Medium bodied.
4.0Deep complex aroma, raisin, plum, grape on the nose, very slightly boozy edge. Attractive clear amber colour, fine off-white head. Medium-full body, with a pleasant creamy mouthfeel. A great red-wine beer.
3.9"2010 batch (cab franc grapes). I thought I’d love this one, and I just liked it. Victoria was it’s superior in a couple areas, which really surprised me (though it could have been the age). Nice grape accents and atouch of tart, smooth, easy drinking and a bit spicy and sweet."
3.7750ml, corked & caged. very nice, fuller mouthfeel, fruity belgian ale with red winer flavors, dark fruits, fruity yeastiness, orange peel.impressed
3.8Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a dark caramel-orange-brown color with a medium sized foamy orange-beige head that left decent lacing. The aroma was sweet and tangy bread, sugar, golden fruits, a bit of dark fruits, fig, toffee and caramel. The flavor was tangy and sweet caramel, nut, rum, golden fruits, dark fruits, a bit of astringency and a hint of perfume. Medium length finish. Moderately full bodied. Pretty tasty.
3.7Bottle pour thanks to lukaduke. Pours a clear gold with a big white head of foam. Good retention. The aroma is dry, musty white grapes. The taste is a touch sweet and grapy and sweet. Bigger bodied beer with an effervescent and floral finish. Highly carbonated.
3.6On tap. Pours a hazy amber-gold with a white head and lacing. It has a biscuit and slight wine grape aroma, and a flavor of sweet malt throughout.
3.8Pours amber hazy with a sandy head. Aroma brings nutty and grapes almost like peanut butter and jelly, nice but subtle. The flavor brings balanced not overly sweet Belgian yeast dominating and smooth with grapes light on the backend. Body is excellent and not too bubbly.
3.84 oz draft pour at ChurchKey shared by solidfunk, thanks Josh! Hazy golden orange with off-white head. Aromas of herbs, spices, floral notes. Tastes of herbs, spices, citrus fruit and rind. Medium body with a dry finish. Medium carbonation.
3.4Good but rather light on the overall palate. Not anywhere near some of allagash’s better stuff, but still decent. Pours hazy amber with good head and lacing. Light sweet finish. Some floral yeast. Tap at Churchkey.
3.4Bottle at home with my dad. 2009 Vintage. Pour is murky orange with a small tan head and decent lacing. Bready, tangy, caramel, lightly husky, phenolic, orange peel, and grapey aroma. Taste is white grapes, light oak, tangy, pepper, slightly oxidized, phenols, banana, and caramel with a tangy finish. Medium body with medium carbonation. OK.
3.7Bottle. Dark amber with a big white head. Aroma musty wheat and yeast. Taste has a prominent cherry/red grape note and light clove. Medium sticky mouthfeel. Nice.
3.7draft at Lures pours hazy yellow. Aroma is light sweet grapes and biscuit. Taste is light tart and grapes. tasty
3.8Draft at Julian’s, Providence. Pours a medium amber, decent amount of white head. Aroma citrus, Brett, very crisp. Body medium lively, a hint of bite from ABV, lingering sweetness, grassy/vinous on the finish.
3.7Bottle: pours dark orange brown with a foamy white head, sweet and yeasty aroma, taste is malty with a touch of sweetness and a dry finish
3.6Sampled at the brewery. Pours amber with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma of grapes, spicy yeast, light malts, hints of tartness, and light grains and doughiness. Flavor the same with a lot of grapes. Average texture. Cool but a little too wine-like for me.
3.8Bottle shared by Nick. Pours reddish gold with an off white head. Aroma is fruity, brett, oak. Flavor follows nose, the wheat and banana are subdues in his one, with dried red fruits, tannins in the finish.
3.6On draught at King’s Head, pours semi-clear rusty amber with 2 finger foamy head. Nose is spicy Allagash yeast, bread, clove, biscuit, fruit. Taste is yeast driven, spicy fruit, banana, biscuit, bread. Finish is yeasty spice, subtle touches of vinous grape linger.
3.8Washington Commons, Brooklyn tap ($11): Pours orange with a white head. Aroma is wood, red wine, citrus, yeast, and some spice. I found that the woody taste was very unique to this beer. Furthermore, the grapes were really quite pronounced. Unlike other raters, I did not find this beer to be too sweet, but rather a nice balance. In fact, I drank it quite rapidly because I found it to be rather quaffable.
3.1750ml bottle pours a hazy copper orange with a white head. sweet wine and light fruit taste.
3.1Metallic copper pour with little or no head. Syrup sweetness with wine topped off with hops. Not too hoppy though. Close to a Belgian style triple. Has a slight aftertaste but otherwise a notable beer.
3.7Copper pour with a white head and lots of white lacing. Subtle fruity esters in the nose. Nice taste with some hop character, slight bitterness and some grape skin astringency in the finish.
3.9Bottle, shared with Davey, Sandra, and my lovely wife. Hazy honey gold body topped by a dense white crown that laces thickly. Aroma is sweet and yeasty, fruity esters dominating. Sweet pale malts, juicy fruit nectar quality that is vaguely grapey, seems more plummy to me but it doesn’t matter as it is a nice compliment to the estery yeast. A quaffable brew for its size. Very nice.
