4.2A 375ml bottle, as Almanac Citra Sour, bottled in July 2015. Poured into a Lost Abbey teku. It was a nice hazy golden orange colour with a two finger white head that dissipated fairly quickly while leaving some nice sticky lacing. Aromas were of tropical fruit, mango and pineapple followed by citrusy mandarin, orange rind and grapefruit with hints of funkiness. Tastes similar to the aroma as its funky, tart, sour, tropical, mango, passionfruit and apricot, followed by citrusy mandarin and orange rind with light oak. Medium bodied with moderate to high carbonation. Overall very nice and refreshing tropical and citrus aromas and flavours with matching funk. The barrel notes were a bit weak, but I’m perfectly fine with that in this case.
3.9From bottle in tulip. Pours with hazy golden hue and strong citrus hop aroma as expected. Forward tartness with refreshing fruity taste of citrus and melon. A palate cleanser.
4.0Bottle shared @Pułapka, Gdańsk
Very hoppy Citra aroma, tart fruity scents. Under the hoppy front some nice brett scents. Taste is sour, acetic, white fruit & nice sour fin
3.9375, capped. Pours a cloudy medium bright orange with a dense and creamy tan head that sticks around for a minute. Bright tangy grapefruit nose, showing juicy and dry rind-y notes. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Lightly sweetened cereal under a bunch of juicy grapefruit and dry grapefruit rind on the mid palate. Tart ferment notes blend right in to the hop notes cohesively. Crisp dry finish.
4.7Juicy and tropical - I basically loved everything about this. Blonde-light orange color. This brew had touches of bright vinous fruit, a tart finishing dryness, and some mild oakiness - all of which would make it a solid white wine substitute for meal pairings. Fruity (stone fruit and melon) and herbaceous flavors. This is a Sour for the insufferable IPA fanatic (me).
4.1Bright yellow with a frothy off white head and good lacing. Aroma’s pungent, tart, citrus, bit of funk. Flavor’s like nose, hint of salt, mint in the finish. Not much sign of hops. Nice finish.
4.0Taproom draft into a shot-glass showing lightly filtered hazy dark orange with white foam lacing.
The nose shows juicy pineapple and citrus balanced by light mango in the middle and a very light malty bed.
The palate is moderately carbonated and light bodied. Lightly tart with citric hop forwardness and flavors of dry pineapple and a very light hoppy bitterness on the finish. Drinks like a cross of a sour ale and pale ale. Nice
4.3375ml bottle. Pours a little cloudy and brilliant gold. Lemon, pepper, flowers, melon, white wine vinegar, peach. Big, bold, spicy. Extremely tart. Well carbonated with a good full body. Fantastic.
3.2Bottle.
A- Tart, subtle garlic, citrus, funky, barnyard.
A- Yellow color, cloudy liquid, white head.
T- Sour, funky, citrus, acidic.
P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, funky finish.
O- Wasn’t sure what to expect here. Didn’t get much for hoppy bitterness, but plenty of funky and citrus. Not bad.
4.4Cloudy yellow with very active head that thins quickly. Small bubbles. Smells exactly like a handful of fresh lychees. Bit of sourness there too, but a fruity sourness. Taste is much more sour, real lip puckerer. Summer fruits as well, mangoes, passionfruit and lychee. Aromatic, piney hops. Not overly bitter. Very light on the palate for a 7%, sourness lingers but not too strongly.
4.0[1/25/17] Draught at Almanac Taproom in San Francisco. Cloudy yellow. Great sour fruity hops aroma with some oak. Tart flavor, juicy, with lots of fruity hops, and oak. Great stuff, really refreshing.
4.0(Bootle) very hazy yellow colour with a small white head; aroma starts with tropical fruit, then funk, then jam; smooth palate; sour flavour with a medium long, medium sour finish; very pleasant
4.3Lots of sweet citra (ripe tropical fruit, lychee), light funk (ripe fruit), medium mostly lactic (+ fresh acetic) sourness, superb interplay between fruity hops, acids and funk.
3.4Draft. Hazed golden pour. Very clean sourness, mint and melon citra hops, lots of citrus tartness. Its good but not worth the price, plenty of other breweries that are abole to put kettle sours in reasonably-priced 6 packs, theres no oak to this....
3.9Bottle. Sensoric. Golden, medium hazy with moderate, semi-thick, off-white head. Poor head retention and lacing. Aroma is moderately malty and modertatelu sour - stable, constant. Moderate citrus, tart, yeasty, fruity (tropical fruits) and crisp. Nice moderate white wine BA notes, which are quite complimentary to each other. Medium body, oily to watery texture, average to lively carbonation, finish is crisp, citrus and refreshing. In overall nice, drinkable, sour ale with quite strong, but short white wine BA accents.
3.7Good citra hopping, good sour. Bottle at Birreria Volo. Very drinkable. I like the sour finish. A little head retention.
3.8Aromas of horse blanket, grapefruit, and lemon zest. Taste is lemon juice, grapefruit peel, clementine, hay, funk, and a touch of oak barrel. A nice light cracker malt and floral hops finish it off.
4.0Bottle. Yellow-golden colour with white head. Lemon, citric aroma. Citric, lemon, grass, acidic, sour taste. Medium body.
4.0Good sour blond base adding some tartness. Hoppy pear and melon flavors. Cloudy golden color.
4.2On tap@pours golden color, slightly haze with foamy white head. Aroma-flavor: intense hop aroma which takes on pine, citruses, some funk, grapes, leather, with bitter, slightly tart, dry finish. Body is medium, texture smooth, carbonation medium.
3.8On draft at Cultivate. The pour is a foggy golden yellow with a thick head of white foam that falls down to a film and thick ring. There is a little lace in its wake. The aroma is nice. There is definitely a sour citrus. It’s lightly grainy and a little hoppy, but the sour citrus is there. The flavor is good. There is a strong citra hip and a lovely sourness to it. It’s not hop related, or lacto, which I like. It’s a sour citrus zest. The mouth feel is light and crisp with a bitter zest and a lingering citrus sourness. It’s got a little leafy hop going on, but I dig it. This is pretty damn good.
4.2The pictured bottle is the one I had and it said 6.8% abv. Pours a clear golden yellow with bubbly white head that leaves light lace. Aroma is mild oaky funk covered by lactic acidity and tropical fruity and grassy hop notes. Taste follows, barrel is present but not overwhelming, nice lactic acidity, but the star of the show is the hops for sure. This is definitely amazing.
4.0Sample at GABF. Pours a hazy yellow gold with medium white head that lasts. The aroma is citrus, lacto, wheat, grass. Medium body, nice tartness, citrus, grass, juicy, light acidity, very nice.
4.7Hazy bright straw/light golden with a thin sticky white cap. Bright orange zest and lemon zesty sourness on the nose with a kiss of funk. Bright poppy flavor that begins with orange and lemon zest, a delightful tropical citric sourness, and a cool orange zest finish with a kiss of lactic tartness and is overall quite smooth, citric, tart but not too tart, and dry on the semisweet finish. Incredible.
4.1Backlog, ocena przepisana z untappd, w ramach uzupełniania profilu na ratebeer.
4.2375ml bottle. Pours a very murky blonde. Tart nose with a hint of the citra hidden away. Strong carbonation which brings out the fruit flavours and citra notes.
3.6Lett tåkete gulbrun med lavt hvitt skum. Får litt såpelukt følelse, parfyme, sitrusen er der. Noe gress dukker også opp. lett sursyrlig smak, sitrus, sitron. Middels lang.
3.60,375l bottle at home. Bottled 07/2015. yellow hazy color, medium big white head. smells citric, parfumy, light funk, some belgian yeast, lightly acidic. nice smell. full body, bubbly carbonation, slick moutfheel. tastes citric, lightly yeasty, sour, some funk, spices, hints of wine barrel notes. finishes medium sour and lightly dry with citrus notes and some spices. good, but lacks a bit complexity. expectec a bit more.
4.1Bottle. Golden in colour, quite clear with small white head. Aroma of tropical fruits, pineapple and citrus but also belgian peach, apricot and funk. In taste tart, sour, zesty with lacto, barnyard and grapefruit notes. Medium body, smooth and creamy mouthfeel, dry and tart finish. Very refreshing and drinkable.
