Almanac Saison Dolores

Almanac Saison Dolores

Dry hopped saison brewed with local rye and wheat.

Introducing Saison Dolores, Almanac’s newest year-round beer. A bright, aromatic brew for all seasons inspired by San Francisco’s Mission District. We combine barley, rye and Sonoran Wheat grown in Mendocino County and ferment the beer with our house Saison yeast. Finally we dry hop it to create a California Saison with flavors of spicy white pepper, fruity melon and a clean food friendly finish.

Enjoy this lively aromatic farmhouse ale with fresh seafood, funky washed rind cheeses and classic french-style charcuterie.

Canned version introduced in 2016 part of the fresh beer series, brewed and canned in San Francisco at Fort Point.

4.3 Ziemlich geiles Blumenwiesenstyle Saison. Belgische Hefearomen, die auch durchaus funky anmuten, dominieren den äußerst anregenden Duft. Der Trunk ausgewogenen, fresh kräutrig und weinig gleitend. Yes!!! Gab’s zum Silvester Seafood Raclette 2016. Harmonierte vorzüglich. 0,65l Bomber from the Big BEERGIUM Online Store. HOT!!!! Ca.7€.
3.7 Canned version. Hazy orange/yellow, with white head. Aroma is orange with rose notes. The taste is light honeydew, with... pepper. This is one of those cases where I agree with the description. $2.39/can
3.4 22oz bottle 12/11/16 (Binny’s Plainfield)-42° in Tulip-Pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma of spices, herbs, citrus, and hops. Taste of the same with some wheat coming in. This light to medium bodied brew is well balanced and is easy drinking.
2.0 Pours a clear yellow color with white head. Herbal, very floral and some other odd soapy tones on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes with the same weird flavors.
3.6 Clear golden and slightly hazy toffee coloured body with a large and growing six centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of very dry and earthy malt with some flowers, grain, light hops and a touch of grass and hay. Medium-bodied; Strong rich grassy and floral flavours with a very dry and herbal finish showing a ton of effervescence, some subdued grainy and bitter hop notes, but a mainly dry and super grassy flavour that hits hard near the end. Aftertaste is dry, grassy, floral and showing a smooth amount of hops - but this is all about the dry malt and a good amount of the pungent and complex yeast flavours that show up after the sip is done. Overall, a nice and enjoyable saison with a lot of complexity and depth, and a very dry and overly effervescent mouthful. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from New Beer Distributors in New York, New York on 01-July-2016 for US$8,99 sampled at home in Dearborn, Michigan on 10-December-2016.
3.6 It pours golden with a slight bit of haze. The head is off white with orange tinges. Leaves some Belgian lace. It has aromas of wheat, basement, leather, and pepper. There are flavors of barnyard, pepper, spices, wheat, and leather. It has a moderate body with a quite dry finish. Overall, it has many funk elements blend in with the spices, but the fruit isn’t really that prominent.
3.7 On tap at the Mars bar in SF Pours clear light golden with a medium sized white head, good lacing. Aroma of tropical fruit, zesty and citrus. Flavor of grapefruit, wheat, lemon zest and esters, dry Good
3.7 12 oz single can shared, purchased at Bottles & Bitters at Sloan’s Lake. Hazy yellow appearance with a white head and light lacing. Zesty, tropical, citrusy and lightly spicy with hints of earthy yeast. Similar flavor, fresh, crisp and easy to drink.
3.6 Sample at GABF 10/08/2016, thanks to my sis for assistance with note-taking. This beer is a slightly hazy golden-orange color with a medium thin off-white head that recedes gradually. Sticky strings of lace. Barnyard aroma with yeast and malt notes. Medium body with flavors of stone fruit, herbal yeast, hops and malt. The finish is mildly funky with a yeast and hops aftertaste. Decent overall.
3.5 Hazy amber color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of yeast, floral, fruit/citrus, caramel, & some spice; Flavor of slight sweet malt, yeast, caramel, fruit, some floral hops, and citrus; Finish is fairly dry. Pretty decent overall.
3.4 22oz bomber. Hazy orange tan. Foamy, steady off-white head. Kind of a funky flat off-putting earthy aroma. Nice pleasant carbonation. A pinch sugary, but works with the estery yeast. Hops give it some resinous depth.
3.5 A pale mellow brassy gold with a biscuit, corn husk and sweet honeyed aroma. Medium bodied but super dry finish. The taste is earl grey tea, graham, floral and herbal hops. For me I think it’d have shown in a better light earlier on in the tasting, a very solid brew though.
3.8 Bomber. Biscuits, peaches, oranges in the nose. Sweet and very fruity, something like a saison / IPA hybrid. Stone fruit, citrus, biscuits. Nice stuff.
3.5 Backlog, ocena przepisana z untappd, w ramach uzupełniania profilu na ratebeer.
3.0 355ml can. This is a big and creamy saison, stronger in alcohol and a bigger mouthfeel than most. Honestly i would prefer it to be a bit more crushable. Falvor is banana and herbs, some sweet malt character that clashes a bit with the malt.
3.7 Go Cubs! Can blasted half its contents out so we shall see. Aroma is tropical fruit, barnyard, dry, white wine, citrus, good. Appearance is golden, hazy, white head. Taste is tropical fruit, dry, rustic, barnyard, citrus, good. Mouthfeel is light body, light crisp carbonation, dry white wine aftertaste. Overall, it’s good.
3.0 This has a strange flthinking that maybe avor that matches the strange spice of the aroma. I’m thinking that I could score this even lower. Just an odd flavor for me.
3.5 Clear golden ,massive rocky white head, good lace/retention. Aroma is very fruity with tropical fruit, grapefruit, citrus, light pale malt. Medium bodied, moderate to low bitterness. In a blind taste test I would have identified this as an IPA with Belgian yeast.
3.8 Tap at Erzbierschof Zurich. Beautiful grass aroma over pepper and other spices. Medium body with a lively carbonation to fill the mouth completely. Juicy, a bit umami, the rye shows itself on the tongue. Lots of yeast and floral hops on the palate, with a lingering finish. Well done.
3.3 Bottle 66cl @ Zombier, Malaga, Spain. A: Hazy golden. T: Malt, sweet, citrusy, spicy.
3.8 Bottle. Very fruity and dry Brett aroma with white grape and stone fruit accents. Hazy golden orange under a rocky, tawny blanket. Flavour is lots of Brett and not so spicy like other Belgian and French ales: stone fruit, light farmhouse, gentle woody bitterness, fairly pungent, lemony hops. Light body, medium carbonation, slightly mouth puckering.
3.0 Can. Pours a golden color with white head. Grainy, yeasty, spicy, straw aromas. Straw, syrup, citrus, grain, metallic flavors. Flavor just a little off, but a big fan
3.4 Bottle 650ml @ My sisters 30th birthday Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, citrus, rye and orange. Taste is medium sweet and light to medium bitter with a long rye, caramel, orange and citrus finish. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
4.2 draught@Erzbierschof - hazy blond beer with a solid pale beige foam; nice lace; perfumy aroma of oranges and spices; creamy palate, sweet and light sourish, lively palate, aftertaste of ginger, oranges, peaches and pepper - lot of character
4.2 Very complex and unorthodox saison which is both more sweet, more dry and more spicy than others. White grapes, cardamum and rye bread are some of the associations I get. Very nice
4.0 Sampled at 2016 Midwest Belgium Beer Festival - It pours yellow / orange with some haze and a white head. It has rustic earthy Belgian saison goodness, pale malt, herbs and a bit of funk. Nicely done.
3.6 Pours a clear golden yellow color with a thin creamy white head. Aroma of spice, grass, and some citrus. Spice, yeast, and citrus, flavor with some grain. Pretty nice beer.
3.5 On tap at Christian Firtal. Cloudy orange amber with a lasting white head. Spicy and fruity Belgian yeast character, with grassy hops. Sweetish fruity flavour with spicy and hoppy notes. Good, balanced classic saison
2.9 Tap @ Fermentoren, Aarhus. Pours hazy amber with a medium white head. Aromas of malt, caramel, orange, esters, rye, spices. Taste is rye, malty, caramel, esters, orange, spice.
