Alpine Beer Company Pure Hoppiness

Alpine Beer Company Pure Hoppiness

A West Coast Double IPA
So mega-hopped it will take you to hop heaven. We’ve used hops in the boil, more hops in the giant hopback, and added to that, an incredible amount of dry-hopping for that cutting-edge “hop bite.” Once you’ve tasted this unique beer, all others pale in comparison. 1.072 OG Classified IBU 8%ABV

3.7 Bottle pour into tulip glass from Greg & Jane's Beer and Wine. Appearance is clear light orange with decent sparkle, finger-width white fizzy head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is lemon citrus and dank resin with fleeting hints of tropical fruit and herbs. Taste is floral, bitter resin with mix of bittersweet lemon citrus. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thin, foamy texture, lively carbonation and bittersweet resin/citrus finish. Overall, the hop aromas and flavors are strong but could be more complex. Not a bitter bomb by any means but West Coast in its resin and citrus dominant bitterness. Good but perhaps overhyped.
3.7 Draft at Lone Star Taps & Caps. Mostly clear amber with thin head. Not a strong aroma, but a big hoppy bite. Piney with a citrus finish.
3.7 Bottle from Bi-Rite. Amber color, white head. Bitter taste with grapefruit, hops, resin, mango, pine and grass. Bitter finish with grapefruit, hops, pine, mango and grass. Excellent imperial IPA.
4.0 Brite Tank pour at Green Flash in San Diego, CA. Aroma is grapefruit, bright citrus, some grass. Incredibly fresh, smooth, balanced and citrus-y.
4.1 From Nov 2007 This pours from 22oz bottle a hazy medium gold with a good 2 finger head of foam that shrinks to a fine layer further into the session and it has lots of lacing. The smell is hoppiness to the max. Grapefruit rules the nose and it's powerful. The taste has huge notes of grapefruit up front..maybe the most I've tasted, initially, in any DIPA. I can *just* taste some malt in the background but it doesn't come to anywhere near the forefront during the entire session. This sample of the style is all about the hops. And what a nice hop character it has. Lots of grapefruit, some floral, some grass, some spice...still, it's mostly the grapefruit. A darn good sample of a hoppy DIPA and yes..I *do* love examples of the style where the malt shares the thrown with the hops. Sometimes, you look for that malt-hop balance in a DIPA and sometimes you don't. When they are done right, I can appreciate both and this one fits the bill. The 8%abv is very well hidden. My first sample from the Alpine Brewery and I'd dare say, not my last. Well done!
3.4 This bottled brew from a bottle shop was served at a cool temperature and poured a very small sized head of foamy finely sized white colored bubbles that were quickly diminishing and left behind a very softly carbonated body hazy dark yellow orange colored body and an excellent lacing. The weak aroma was hoppy. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a strong hoppy aftertaste. The nice flavor contained notes of mild rye and hops. A decent one that I would consider drinking again.
Sabor a cítrico, perfecto amargor y bastante lúpulo 😍
3.8 January 10th, 2015 - Hot on the heels, one hoppy taster after another, comes the Pure Hoppiness, promising another burst of bitterness for an eager tongue. The nose is a little harder to pick up on this one, probably from aroma fatigue. but there’s a bit of crushed apple served alongside the hop profile, which remains a little muddied (again, likely my own fault for vaulting from one taster to the next.) The flavor on this Alpine entry is dry and slightly sweet, almost like a light, sweet sour ale, with a delicate palate. But it’s an impressive palate too, delivering a subtle but nuanced taste that shines even through the haze of rapid taster testing.
3.4 12 oz. bottle. Pours clear, golden color, with a big, frothy, white head. The aroma is pine and resin, with some floral notes, tar, and caramel. Sweet at first, with a strong, smooth bitterness. Medium to heavy body, with a creamy, astringent mouthfeel. Solid, and clearly well made, but not my favorite.
3.9 355ml bottle, pours hazy bronze gold, small white head. Aroma is piney resin hop, grapefruit, apricot and hop spice. Medium body, oily texture, syrup caramel with good balance from the heavy hopping. Finish is long and bitter with a little spice.

3.8 Light color, piney aroma, thick hop bitterness, not much fruit, full bodied with long finish, light lingering booziness, overall a good brewski
3.4 8%ABV. Double IPA. Nose is spicy with scallion, grapefruit peel and pine. Palate is hop forward. Malts are clear, sweet and light. Full bodied. Hops are resin, bitter melon, oleander sap. Overall, the palate for me was dichotomous and balanced on 2 separate but equal tracks as opposed to the palate on Stigbergets Beer Week 2016, another excellent IPA I had recently. Lingers with bitter melon at the back of the throat and tongue. Goes on Favorites List!

3.9 Bottle shared at work, thanks to Joe. Pours clear golden with a thin white head. Resin on the nose, dank hops and tropical fruit. Taste is bitter orange, more resin and a faint malt backbone. Decent DIPA.
4.0 Bottle from Bottle Baron. Pours a clear gold with little head that almost completely disappears leaving lacing. Aromas of Irn Bru, orange, tropical fruits and citrus. Flavour is tropical, bitter pithy grapefruit and orange. Certainly hoppy as the name suggests!
4.0 Clear true golden color with lasting half finger of beige foam. Pine and grapefruit on the nose with a bit of malt detectable. Flavor follows the same, with a solid representation of hop bitter thought the sip, not too balanced by malt. Finish is slightly dry and mildly bitter. Good, but not my favored characteristics.
3.6 Pours gold with hints of orange and white head. A citrus and pine aroma with some tropical fruit. A malt forward taste with caramel, tropical fruits and some citrus and pine. A malty aftertaste with bitter hops.
