Alpine Beer Company Willy Vanilly

Alpine Beer Company Willy Vanilly

Since “Willy” is so versatile and can be flavored with fruits and essences, we add a touch of vanilla extract to compliment the sweet nuttiness. Also good mixed with Captain Stout, a blend we call “The Captain and Vanil.”

2.7 Looks good, pours a pale copper, frothy beige head. Aroma is like cream soda, strikes me as artificial initially. Thin on the tongue, pale malts, dominated by vanilla though. If they tones it down it would be an improvement. Still refreshing but one of my least favorite offerings from Alpine.
3.1 Sampled @ Mikkeller Beer Celebration 2017, Blue Session. Fast klare goldgelbe Farbe. Geruch ist süß malzig, Honig, viel Vanille. Geschmack ist süß malzig, viel Vanille, ansonsten ziemlich flach.
3.4 Tap @MBCC2017, Blue Session. Clear golden, small white head. Vanilla aroma, light citrus. Sweetish vanilla flavour, light malt. A little on the thin side.

3.6 Sample at MBCC 2017. Fruity smell with vanilla. Similar taste. Some sweetness. Except for the vanilla quite mild.
2.8 duft: frisk citrus lime appelsin smag kedelig æble lidt æblemost frisk citrus
3.2 Pours hazy golden with a low white head. Aromas of garden branch, green apples, vanilla, citrus. Taste is fruity and floral with light grassy notes and vanilla. Mouthfeel is light bodied with moderate carbonation.
2.4 Provsmak på MBCC 2017. Ljust gul med vitt skum. Lätt unken doft. Smakar mycket vete som förstärks av vaniljen.
3.2 Bottle. Very slightly hazy dirty golden with a quickly fizzling off-white head. Aroma of vanilla, wheat, nuts and bubblegum. Tastes semi-sweet with a good bit of vanilla. Light bodied and pretty crisp.
3.3 On tap at Cap Tap. Pours clear gold with a thick white head and a huge vanilla aroma. There is a light pale malt flavor with a ton of vanilla and a nutty finish.
3.4 12/11/16. On tap at World of Beer, Hilton Head. Alpine is going wild with these wacky beers lately. WILLY VANILLY OH THAT’S JUST SILLY. TEEHEE. Golden orange pour with a small khaki head. Light vanilla aroma, soft wheat, lemon. Mild nutty flavor, soft wheat, lemon, vanilla. Not bad.
3.7 Best by July 17th. Hazy orange, an " of foam. Vanilla, wheat, light citrus smell. Big vanilla taste, sweet notes from the vanilla and maybe honey. Really low level of bitterness. Nice use of vanilla, me thinks.
2.3 From a beer hawk mystery case. Pours golden with slight haze. Vanilla smell. Reminds me of cream soda. No hops I could detect. Ok for a change but not one I will be seeking out in future.
3.2 12oz bottle picked up at Total Wine in Reno Pours slightly cloudy light golden with a medium sized white head that dissipates quickly to a small ring, light lacing. Aroma of grains, wheat, honey and vanilla. Flavor of vanilla, wheat and citrus I like the vanilla in this
3.1 Bottle purchased at Greg & Jane’s. Cloudy gold with full lasting white head. Nose so sweet vanilla, wheat malt, and mildly bitter citrus peel. The vanilla flavor comes across pretty strong in the finish. Yeah, it is what you would expect overall. Simple and straightforward, although a tad overly sweet.
3.2 Bottle. Pours a pale golden yellow with a foam head that quickly disappears. Aroma is vanilla. Flavor is vanilla and some malt. Has a medium body with plenty of carbonation. I enjoy vanilla but I like it better in a stout.
3.4 Pours clear gold into a shaker. Bright white head recedes to hug rim. Vanilla and wheat aromas. Dry with sweet vanilla and sourdough upfront turning to banana before returning to vanilla in the lasting finish.
3.2 12 oz. bottle from hayduke that we had together via facebook chat. Lightly hazed and golden. A noisy off white head soon disappears completely. Aroma is vanilla and pepper. The flavor is dominated by vanilla but it is not over done. Some gentle fruit under that and rich malts that are cereal. Not complex but pleasant.
3.3 Shared with Strykzone on Facebook Chat. Poured ever so slightly hazy gold Nose of light malts and vanilla. Medium body and a very smooth mouthfeel. Flavor has some citrus and a lot of vanilla. Finished with a little spice. Easy drinking and pretty good for a vanilla based beer.
3.1 Pours clear solar yellow with a thick and rather persistent porcelain head. Aroma features wheaty, vanilla, and subtle yeasty notes. Flavor ups all of these, especially the vanilla, and adds a hint of woody hops for a tasty if a wee bit sweet beer. Body and fizz are so-so, but finish provides a last flash of vanilla. This one isn’t faking it.
3.3 12 ounce bottle - $2.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia. Appearance: Pours a clear, yellow body with a bubbly, white head. Smell: A little crackly, crisped wheat and the thinnest measure of lemon paired with the scent of a no-name cream soda. Taste: Faint malts, soft wheat character with a medium degree of sweetness. Vanilla flavorin’. A light touch of garden variety lemon. Finishes still pretty sweet with a little lemon more of the vanilla additive and a bit of grainy, wheatiness. Mouthfeel: Medium-light body Overall: They took the rather bland, ho-hum Willy and Cream Soda-ized it!
3.3 This had come in a 12 oz. bottle 6pack format. Drank with family as we feverishly played Mario Kart under a darkly painted sky in the suburbs. Has a lightly orange hue. Snowy white head half a finger mounted its liquid horse atop. Nice. Upon propping the bottle up to my nose, I instantly get substantial whiffs of unripe guava, crumbled white bread, vanilla extract, (vanilla) Whey protein, and LME. Nothing memorably changes if let out. Maybe a little papery presence but that’s about all. Tastes much the same, with the addition of sweat, aged hops (German in variety), and melon pith. Mouthfeel is the best part of this entire beer’s performance. Velvety smooth with just a touch of graininess lingering when swallowed. Unoffensive, easy drinking. Just what I like.
2.4 12 oz bottle pours a hazy golden color with a nice white head. Aromas of wheat, vanilla, slight citrus. Light bodied, a nice light beer with some flavor.
3.7 355ml bottle from Beer Gonzo. Pours a misty gold, medium white head. Aroma is light wheat malt and doesn’t throw out much vanilla unfortunately, although it does come out nicely on the palate. Works well with the wheat malt. Reminds me a lot of cream soda.
3.2 Bottle from Taniguchi. A wheat beer made with vanilla extract. A very lightly cloudy gold with a fruity vanilla wheat aroma. The taste is like a creamy vanilla oatmeal, a bit over the top in terms of vanilla but flavorful and drinkable. Not too bad.
3.3 355ml bottle from Ales by Mail, shared with Ashton McCobb. Pours pale yellow with a thin white head. Aromas of custard, vanilla and faint lemon. Taste is sweet, more custard, faint lemon. Sweet finish.
3.1 Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - golden yellow with a thin attractive head. Nose - custard and malt bag. Taste - lemon curd and flowers. Palate - light bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly good finish. Overall - ok but could be fresher.
3.3 Bottle. Vanilla, wheat malt, and straw aroma. Golden yellow with giant white head. Mildly sweet vanilla, wheat malt, and mildly bitter straw flavor. Okay body. Okay but vanilla flavor comes across as artificial.
3.0 Bottle a hazy pale golden. Nice vanilla flavors. Pale light malts. Not much wheat character. Clean lingering vanilla trailer. Interesting experiment not bad.
3.3 12 fl. oz. bottle in a goblet on 19 November, 2016. The pour is a slightly hazy golden color with a short, weak head. Minimal lacing. Aroma: vanilla, light bread and spicy hops. Flavor: lots of vanilla, perhaps too much, along with a faint toasted malt note and light, spicy hops. Medium body.
