3.2 Bottle 33cl from Bierhall De Koninck, @ home. Aroma of vinegar, red wine, wood. Taste is similar with a mix between sweetness and sourness. A sort of mix between an oud bruin and a brown beer, quite original. -- rated with beerbasher/winphone
3.5 330ml bottle. pours hazy brown with thin off white head. aroma is alcohol, fruit cake, bananas, yeast and caramel. taste is sugary, caramel, toffee followed by the yeast and quite a tart alcoholic finish.
3.2 Strange fruity aroma. The taste also has some strange fruity taste. Dry and little sweet. Decent but not more.
3.6 Caoba oscuro, espuma beige. Aromas de frutos rojos maduros muy intenso. Cuerpo denso, sabor afrutado, uva, pasas, final seco moderado. Buena sour.
2.1 Geen voor te herinneren, is niet slecht, maar er is niets in de smaak waarvoor ik het nog eens zou kopen
3.8 One of Alvinne’s three Epiphany beers, this one made with four grains and three spices. Yellowish beige, creamy, thick foam (even some gushing when opening the bottle), quickly diminishing; colour a dark ruby brown with a wine-red glow, misty. Aroma of rich malts (chocolate and caramel), pear, plums, dates, bananas, old ’graanjenever’, cloves, coriander, cardamom, port wine, cinnamon; deep and rich multi-layered malt taste, sweetish with obvious spices (predominantly coriander), liqueurish finish with a light toasted bitterness reminiscent of a Scotch beer.
3.4 Stubby bottle from Party Source. Pours a clear reddish brown color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have some sweet malts, ample herbs and spices, coriander, mildly tart ginger, wood. Interesting, but not something that I would seek out again.
4.0 Lots of spices in the smell and taste as well. A bit of chocolate and liquorice. Too much spice for me to really enjoy, but a fun experience.
3.0 Aroma is burnt wood. Pours dark brown with little head and light carbomation. Taste is burnt. Seems like its probably good but not my style.
3.7 From my backlog Dark coppery colour with an off-white head with medium lasting and nice lacing. aroma has notes of barrel, red fruits and slightly sourish. Flavor has a moderate sourness, vinous hints, wood and slightly red fruits, mainly berries. Sourish final with hints of wood.
3.4 Tap at animal, Madrid. Dark brown color. Thin head. Medium sour. Wine, fruit, citric, cheese hop.
4.2 Tap at Bar Animal. Complex nose: bergamotte, bubblegum, lactic, horse blanket notes? Dark brown, big golden head. Roast, wood, lemon, bubblegum and berries, dry bretty notes, mint. Dry medium body, mellow mouthfeel. Leather and chocolate finish. Unusual, especially the bubblegum notes ( I guess from the spices?) but really well balanced and pleasant to drink
3.4 Draft at Beer temple. Pours dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of tart dark fruits, overripe fruits, caramel, light Brett funk and sweet malt. Flavour is over moderate sweet, moderate bitter and light to moderate acidic. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
3.6 Tap at the Beer Temple, Amsterdam. Poured a dark brown with a reddish hue and a thin off white head. The aroma is acid citrus light sour. The flavour is medium sour light sweet with a rich dark malt fruity palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Really liked this. There was lots of flavour but nothing was overdone.
3.4 Pours a dark brown colour with a foamy beige head. Nose and taste mainly have red fruits (cherries, grapes), wine-like notes and matching sourness: almost a fruit beer, with a geuze-like hint coming through. Lively mouthfeel with medium-high carbonation. Not too bad, but the lack of balance makes it easily forgettable.
3.3 Poured deep dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma of sour fruit and soft malt. Medium to full body, flavour is slightly spicy red berries, lingering dry, sour finish.
3.9 Very spicey and unique beer with a strong body of yeasty sweetness and malt. Special and interesting beer.
3.4 @ kulminator. pours brown, small white head. smell is nuts and caramel ( this is what came to mind, seing the ingredients in the description, yes, it could be ginger more than what i made out of it ) taste is quite the same . werid, mostly ...
4.0 Re-rated - fresh 330 ml bottle - this is a nice belgian strong ale with sour notes! Pours deep brown with a small yet creamy head. Rich noseof apple, raisins, roasted malts, caramel, cinnamon and curry. Light to medium body with nice roasty-sour notes (yes, it works well!), a bit too much carbonation for me. Taste is roasted malts, slight coffee. Very decent beer, underrated.
3.1 330ml bottle. Pours dark copper, nice tan head. Malty, coriander, spicy aromas. Medium body, quie phenolic, average carbonation. Enjoyable.
3.7 Bottle. Dark pour with a big beige carbonated head. Dark fruit, caramel, licorice, and yeast. Very nice!
3.8 Bottle from a shop in Belgium. Spicy and sweet smell. Similar taste, the spices in the description is noticeable. The managed to get a nice level of spiciness in this one.
3.7 11.2oz flip top bottle. Pours a rusty cloudy brown with a slowly fading tan head. Aroma of dark caramel malt, yeast, some dark fruity esters. Taste is sweet caramel malt, Belgium yeast, with some zesty ginger notes and coriander as well. A full body with mild carbonation and sweet malt very yeasty on the palate. Finishes with a combination of dark caramel malt, has a slightly almost red wine nuance with some zesty ginger and coriander flavors and some mild alcohol esters. Overall an good and interesting twist on a Belgian ale,
3.4 From a bottle with explosive carbonation. Pours dark brown with a white head and some dark flecks that I’m assuming (hoping) are some of the spices promised on the label. Aroma is very bready, with fruit, Belgian yeast, caramel, and spice. Flavor starts sweet with ginger and cardamom. More spice and some alcohol in the finish. I love ginger and cardamom, but it doesn’t really work as well as I’d hoped. Good, not great. Not sure whether I should drink this or stir-fry with it.
3.5 Sample at a beer tasting in delft. Thin tan head. Clear black pour. Alcohol, port, and raisins. Nice brew.
4.1 Bottle at Kulminator, Antwerp. Dark brown beer with a medium beige head. Dark dried fruits, licorice aroma. Simliar flavour with some nice viol(?) notes. A really nice beer, easy to like :-)
3.6 Bottle at Kulminator, Antwerp. Coriander aroma, malty, roasted notes, mint, grass, leather, some chocolate. Malty chocolate flavor, coriander, ginger, salty notes, dark fruits, honey, vinous, some oak. Spicy malty finish, hop notes, fruity and some hay.
3.8 2012 - 03 - 24 330ml bottle. brown colour. big, foamy, creme head. coffee in aroma. bitter sweet taste. nice seasonal...
3.6 Beer gushed out when I opened the bottle! Aromas of cardamon and spice... spicy, crisp, malty... fine Xmas beer.
