3.8 Orange-gold pour, barnyardy, with peach, apricot, honey and caramel. Great.
3.8 His is a good Flanders sour. Yeast a in the aroma.. flavor is moderately sweet, more yeast, balsamic, and a little acid. This is tartbut not o early so.
4.0 hazy brown colour, minimal, promptly disappearing beige head. aroma of sour cherry, dark chocolate, woody, acetone and balsamic acidy notes; taste of citric sourness with sour cherry juice, dark chocolate, woody-tart-like and acetic acidy notes; great one!
4.3 0,33l bottle shared @ One Pint Pub, high ABV Christmas tasting. Pours very dark brown with a medium head. Aroma is intense and complex sour malts with some sweetness. Flavor is sweet and tart complex malts, red wine, fruits, oak, alcohol. Excellent.
4.0 Deep ruby, clear red highlights, small soapy head. Strong winey aroma with a little background red malts, sharper vinegary / boozy / solventy notes, old dried cherries, oaky spice. Strong taste - red wine barrel, mild vinegar, dried red fruit stone bitterness - intense yet smooth and mature, no burning. With all the acidity, there's quite a bit of sweetness lurking behind and staying on palate. A big, intense, yummy, yet smooth Oud Bruin.
4.2 Monday evening, October 14, 2019. Bottle, 33cL. 8%. @bar "Le Cluricaume", Poitiers (86), FR. Home. A black or very dark brown beer with a minimal off-white ephemeral head. Vinegar smell, wood, red berries, cherry, wine, caramel note, plum, candied fruits. Medium round sweet, medium acid/sour dry, gourmet, light refreshing. Good body, oily texture, flat, fruity round gourmet woody finish. Overall, delicious of course ; wonderful ! Yummy :)
3.7 On tap at Fortnight in downtown Providence, RI. orange-amber with a thin, fine off-white head that fades quickly to a film. Aroma is caramel, some popcorn, toasty oak, touch of lemon and lactic, touch of toasted wheat, some brown sugar, hint of prunes. Body smooth felt, starchy, medium-light weight, a bit drying (like tannic wine) on the palate (presumably from lots of oak), medium carbonation (in terms of quantity, fineness, and burn). Flavor is grainy wheat, spelt scones, touch of turbinado sugar, hint of spicy herbal hops, medium-big nutty toasted oak (but not really much vanilla from that), maybe some dry and bretty red wine notes, but it blends in well. Really cool non-vanilla oaky wine-barrel sour!
4.1 Bottle at BeerHeadz Nottingham. Dark brown colour with a thin head. Aroma fruity tangy wine. Taste moderate sour. Full body.
3.4 Tap @ De Drie Dorstige Herten, Utrecht. Pours dark red colour with a small head. Beige on the nose, subtle ripe fruits and some hints of honey. Flavor is tart with dark berries and some dark fruits as well, some caramel and malt notes. Decent. 3344
3.3 Draught @ Drie Dorstige Herten Aroma has vinegar, balsamico, wood and cherry. Flavour has srrong balsamico tones, vinegar, sour cherries and woody notes. Finishes with mild licorice. Solid, but not my thing.
3.8 Very dark brown with no head. Smell with roast flavours, blueberries and vinegar. Sour taste, reminding me of lemons and even of dry white wine. No carbonation but still a lot of body.
3.6 Bottle from Willems. Pours despite the lacking head quite beautiful, cherry and vermilion red. Decent thickness, for some reason I find these headless barrel aged ales often look so classy... Aroma: ligth sourness up front, followed by some red wine, vanilla and some soft woody tannines, finishes distinctly sweetish candi sugar and forest fruits, hints of roast. Taste: very strong red wine and tannines, giving it an almost astringent aftertaste. There's some fruityness as well, I wonder if it', together with the tannines, cheapening the red wine not too much towards sangria... Fine, lingering sourness, decent candi sugar MF. Great, complex and tasty aroma with excellent balance sweet and sour, the taste I find much less complex, less "vinous" elegance but rather harsh tannines. Maybe best poured with yeast to soften the harshness a bit.
3.5 Copenhagen 16/7 2019. 33 cl bottle from Mikkeller Web-shop. Alvinne's usual label design in Brownish yellow ready to bring me back to Seventies. Pours opaque, dark brown with small, bubbly off-white head. Settles as very thin layer of foam unable to cover the surface of the beer. No lacing. Aroma is intense, sour and acerbic. Strong Vinegar, unripe berries, light touch of funk. Some light fruity sweetness lurking underneath. Light touch of wood - but not something that dominates. Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, slightly greasy texture. Flavor is - a bit surprising when I take the aroma into account - medium sweet followed by a strong sourness. Aftertaste is sour with a light sweet undercurrent. Lingers for a while. Sharp, acidic, vinegary drink with just enough redeeming sweetness to make it tolerable. Just as it should be.
3.8 Bottle at PiBar, Lausanne. Pours a clear mahogany with a light beige head. The aroma is lightly funky, lightly woody and vinous with dark berries, hints of balsamic vinegar, prunes, raisins and light toasted notes. Medium body with a medium to medium-heavy acidity and a light tartness. The flavor starts with some dark fruits, balsamic vinegar, wood, some toasted malt, toffee, hints of cocoa and finishes lightly vinous with hints of tannins, wood and a light residual acidity. Aroma: 8 Appearance: 4 Taste: 7 Mouthfeel: 4 Overall: 15
4.3 Bottle. A- Tart, cherry, balsamic vinegar, oak. A- Cola brown color, dark liquid, minimal head. T- Tart, cherries, vinegar, sour. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, tart finish. O- Drank this a bit warm due to European hotels not believing in mini fridges or ice. Shop owner recommended I try the blueberry freddy but I wanted this one first. Regret not buying both. Very nice.
3.9 0.33l bottle. Very dark brown body with a super thin beige head. Balsamic vinegar dominates the aroma with notes of cocoa, brown sugar syrup, oak, mold and sour cherries. Sour cherries and balsamic vinegar appear in the taste too so as the oak and some cocoa. It even shows a bit of chocolate. Quite sour. Not disturbing, but it walks on a fine line. Interesting beer. Not something I'd sip on every day, but I'm happy that I tried it.
4.1 Dark chestnut, no head. Aroma: portwein, prunes, dark malts. Moderate to srong sourness balanced with malt and fruity sweetness. Flavour: prunes, chocolate, mature vinegar, low vanilla notes. Very good.
3.5 330ml bottle. Hazy, darkest brown colour with average to huge, thick, firm, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, beige head. Oaky, tannic, vinous, slightly tangy and dark malty aroma, notes of morello, dark chocolate, a touch of vinegar, red wine, black pepper and nutmeg. Taste is slightly dry, sour, chocolately dark malty, vinous, fruity, oaky, tannic, notes of morello, hints of blue grapes, sour dark berries, a minimally sweet-ish touch of plum, some balsamico. Rich and complex, a tad too sour and astringent.
4.5 Welcome back to den haag beer at hoppzak. Dark and bitter like the Dutch rain clouds. Very admirable.
3.5 Tap at Chinaski lavapies. Nose is sour cherries, yoghurt, raspberry, black currant. Palate is Cherry Joghurt, quite sour in the middle, almost too sour. Still a nice red!
4.2 Bottle. Dark brown color, light brown foam. Aroma: good red wine, currants, prunes, very nice. Taste: sweet and sour, rich red wine, dried fruit, sweetness, mild acidity, very rich.
3.7 Keg at Beaverex '18 Day I, 07/09/18. Extremely dark mahogany brown with a decent light tan cap. Nose is damp wood, funk, red berry skins, acidic nostril twinge, smoked piss. Taste comprises fruit balsams, stewed fruits, sharp citric back notes, funk, dry rot, tangy, barnyard notes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with an acidic rise. Decent bracing sour.
4.0 Bottle at home. Cloudy reddish mahogany, beige bubbles but no real head. Medium-high acidic and sweet vinous porto red fruit, cherries, apple, vanilla, oaky dry, clove, caramel, herbal, strawberry. Good body, absent carbonation, a bit oily mouthfeel.
Gott.
4.2 the aroma is fruity and winy with hints of sour plum, cherry, apple vinegar, yeast and berries... the taste is very tart, fruity and winy, with notes of sour apple, cherry, sour prunes, yeast and forest berries... sour, tart and dry aftertaste...
