1.9 Brunsvart med obefintligt skum. Doftar lite malt och svamp. Smaken fyllig och söt. Eftersmaken ganska kort och söt, tämligen tunn, alkoholanstruken.
3.9 Opaque reddish amber with a small off-white head. Nose: sourish barrel, rich malts, toffee, dried fruit. Full body. Taste: massive malts, fruit, light sourness, a bit wild. Not much alcohol. It's not like conventional quads. Different and good.
3.6 Flaska från Belgoklubben. Mörkt brun med ljusbrunt skum. Mustig och vinös, kola, körsbär och vingummin i doft och smak.
3.9 Karmel, rodzynki, toffi, miód, nuty dzikie bardziej w smaku niż w aromacie.
3.6 Tap. Hazy brown color with beige head. Aroma is chocolate, toasted malts, a bit toffee, earthy, candied sugar. Taste is the same, a bit estery. Oily mouthfeel with low carbonation. Good, very balanced for a quadrupel
3.5 Donkerbruin bier zonder schuimkraag.
1.8 Monday, September 2, 2019. Bottle, 33cL. 12.8%. Purchase ("La Cervoiserie", Poitiers (86), FR). Home. A very very dark brown shining clear beer with a medium beige foamy head ; ok retention. Light sugar, light caramel, skunky unpleasant notes, roast, alcohol+. Medium to heavy round sweet, sugary, light to medium short fresh, light warming atmosphere. Overwhelming fat body, oily syrupy texture, soft gaseous to flat, sweet sugary short finish. Overall, unpleasant. I will try again if I find another bottle.
3.8 Bottle from Colruyt. Pours hazy amber with a quickly thinning, frothy, off-white head. Aroma of ripe red apple & grapes, sherry, redcurrant, plum, apple cake, caramel, dried tea leaves. Taste is medium fruity sweet, lots of ripe plum, red grape & apple, quite sour hint of redcurrant too; caramelly & cake-like maltiness supporting bitter herbs & tea leaves. Dry, earthy & herbal hoppy finish, more cake, ripe red fruit, a bit woody & tart, some warming sherry-like alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, flat carbonation. Complex Quad.
3.6 Bottle from Colruyt, Zottegem. Dark brown colour, almost no foam. soft carbonation. Notes of dried plums, nuts, dates, berries. Taste is sweet, light fruity, bitter hoppy finish. A bit out of balance but enjoyable.
3.3 0.33l bottle. Dark rubyish brown body with a pearl head. Significant amount of booze in the aroma with notes of nutmeg, cocoa, caramel and dates. Taste of caramel, cocoa, nutmeg, orange zest, raisins and booze. It also has a woody character to it. In the finish, some floral hops show up. Not bad, but the alcohol is a bit too evident.
3.6 7-3-7-4-15 On tap @ Bergen Craft Beer Fest. Pours dark maroon, with almost no head. Aroma is dark fruity notes of dark berries, leather, tannins and wooden barrels, as well as some caramels. Full body, with soft carbonation. Flavour is dark fruity notes of leather, wood and berries, as well as farmhouse notes.
3.6 (Bottle, 0.33 l - BBE 2021, at Stadin Panimobaari, 20190411) The beer poured dark brown and nearly clear. Its head was medium sized and nearly white. Aroma had malts, dried plums, dark fruits and Belgian style yeast. Palate was medium bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, dark fruits, dried plums, malts, Belgian style yeast and bitterness. Aftertaste had dark fruits, malts and bitterness. A surprisingly balanced strong brew with Belgian twist.
3.9 The last bottle of mortagne at Trrskillingen. Tiny but lastning dark beige head. Clear dark amber color. Big malty, dark fruit aroma with a touch of metal. Big caramell malty sweetness with a light dark fruit taste. Full body to balance the alcohol and bitterness. Another god beer from Alvinne.
3.2 Herbal quad with dark fruits and light bretty notes. Sadly too sweet and boozy. Nice for a small sample, way too much for a bottle.
3.9 Bottle from Willems in Grobbendonk. Poors deep red brown with rather small mocha head, nice lacing. Aroma vinous, red fruits, alcohol. Taste warming and tasty alcohol, some plums, red currant, fruity hops I think, like an alcoholic amber ale, a little roasted maybe, creamy, vanilla, sweetish butterscotch. MF grainy, thick, starchy even. Endimpression: a little too sweet but nice, decently complex and tasty sipper.
Mooi!
4.1 This beer has two faces. It is a very good service with some well-treated item, such as alcohol, the balance between the various factors. But it does not come to exelence. And that's what a four-tier beer is asking for. Exelence is demanded and this one lacks a bit.
Čudan slatko-kiselkast okus i mutan izgled.
3.7 Bottle, 0.33l. Murky deep ruby/brown pour with small off-white head, short lasting. Lots of visible yeast floating around the glass. Floral and malty nose, yeast, strong caramel presence. Thin to medium body, lively carbonation. Thick texture. Taste starts of almost sugary sweet, leading towards the bitterness in the aftertaste. Aroma loaded with caramel. Yeast. Strong fruity notes, hints of cherry. Brown sugar, molasses. Herbal liquor. Wheat. Warming mouthfeel, pleasantly boozy. Bitter finish, it feels a bit out of place. Overall, pretty good. Somewhat harsh bitterness throughout the finish ruins it a bit for me, but otherwise it's pretty solid brew. Good.
3.1 0.33 l bottle. Thanks, Višnja 666 and Pilot Goran! Murky amber, sediment, medium off-white head. Dried fruits and some syrup, cherry and strawberry candy. Sweet with some tartness. Medium body, soft carbonation, moderately sweet finish. Alcohol was hidden. Not impressed.
Erg fijn bier. Smaak blijft erg lang hangen.
3.4 kleine schuimkraag caramel achtig van kleur, robijnrood. pittig felle nasmaak. fruitige sterke smaak.
3.6 Draught @ Fermentoren, Aarhus. 13,9%ABV. Pours hazy dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of malt, caramel, yeast, light wood, light tartness, wet oak, dried fruit,, dates, little alcohol. Flavor is sweet, rich malty, caramel, dried fruit, dates, figs, wood, alcohol. Medium to full body, light oily mouthfeel, soft to average carbonation, sweet finish with warming alcohol. 241117
3.9 330mL bottle from International Beer Collector. BB APR 2019 Good looking brew - deep amber body, holds dense creamy big off-white head. Promising aroma without giving away too much - rich cakey malts, dark caramel, vanilla & baking spices, plums, prunes & figs. BIG body - no question of its strength - tremendous weight, clingy sticky texture, long finish, warming in a gentle nurturing sense. Kicks up a notch on the palate - bags of sweet sweet caramel, yellow plum flesh, dried figs & dates, toasted brioche with sort of burnt bits on it, sticky date pudding that was left in there a bit too long, and possibly with too much butter in it, some funky earthy herbal (hop?) notes lend a bitterness to proceedings. A serious brew, rather very enjoyable!
3.9 Bought @Willems Grobbendonk. Beer that also serves to make Cuvée de Mortagne. Very nice boozy aroma with orange zest, yeast and caramel. Taste is very full, candy sugar, brown sugar, caramel, not too sweet, herbs, wycam's cough drops, orange zest, yeast. Very nice. Palate is velvety and a tad oily. Great long complex aftertaste where a little sour comes kicking in!
