2.533 cl bottle. gusher. Dark brown body with a very large brown head. Very strong alcohol aroma with some yeast hints and sourness. Soft carbonation. *
3.4(33 cl bottle) Dark brown almost black, and opaque, with a big beige head. Aroma has roasted malts and caramel, but mainly fruity, vinous and acidic components - like balsamic vinegar, madeira, raisins, grapes - plus some wet stone and oak barrels. No hops discernible. Taste is tart and acidic and luckily has very little sweetness. Works well here. Light body, average carbonation. Good balance, though not hugely complex.
3.333cl Bottle, tasted during Scotland trip with Robin and Stefaan. Complete gusher. Dark brown coloured beer with some medium carbonation and a medium brown head. Sour fruity yeasty hinted aroma. Medium to full palate; Finish is sour sweet fruity light malty. Medium.
3.1(gusher - be prepared) hazy-murky light brown with a very small light beige head, very little retention or lacing. vinous characteristics - woody, some acidity, red grapes... demerara, few acetic notes, some awkward roasted notes. average carbonation, light body - slightly watery, decent grassy-citrusy-spicy finish. defects aside - almost enjoyable!
(Rating #4595)
3.4(bottle, 33cl, without gushing!) Hazy, dark brown colour with a ruby shine and a big and beige foamy head. Yeasty, pronounced dark malty aroma with caramel, mildly berry fruity notes and a touch of vinegary acidity in the background. Moderately sweet and delicately sour-tart flavour, medium to light bodied with a spritzy carbonation. Moderately toasted malty aroma with notes of caramel, liquorice, cellar and a rather restrained fruity touch; dry toast-malty finish with hints of chocolate and a mildly sour-fruity touch, which is finally quite lingering. 11.I.13
3.3Explosion of beer and foam when opened. Murky brown unattractive colour, but very nice yeasty wildy aroma and delicate sour taste.
3.7Wild pour, opened the bottle and it erupted into the pint glass, brown wild ale. Taste of berries, and other fruits, slightly acidic. Smell delicious, oaky. Quite sour. Very enjoyable.
2.8Bottle (330 ml). Another gusher by Alvinne! Murky brown with a huge but quickly diminishing light brown head and some lacing. Aroma of red fruits, slight sourness and wood notes. Taste is sligthly sweet with some sourness, but nothing too intense. There’s also chocolaty notes that I completely dislike. They absolutely doesn’t get along with red fruits sourness. Light to medium body. Ouf... that not a beer that I’ll remember for the good reasons... complexity is so-so, balance is killed by the chocolate/red fruits blend in the taste. I wasn’t able to finish my botte. That’s bad, I had some expectation for this one because Morpheus Extra R.A. is a good beer... not this one though.
3.2Murky brown with a big white head (after it gushed, of course). Restrained aroma of sour red fruits and brett (barrel notes). Sour but not puckeringly so, there is no noticeable bitterness. Flavors of tart cherries with not much residual sugars (yay brett!). This is way better than I thought be and a nice refreshing belgian sour!
Updated 2013-03-10: Poured like mud, really ugly looking. Another gusher, too. These Alvinne beers are not world class, really.
3.2330ml bottle, dark ruby, brown hue, with a frothy tan head, light wild yeasty, sour fruity, winey tannin nose, with a chocolate, toasty, caramel, roasty malt note, and with a wet oaky, red wildberry acidic note in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a toasted, caramel, black, roasted malt, sweet wild fruity yeastiness, woody red wine tannin character, with some black bitter chocolate, sour cherry, brown sugar, coffee flavours, with a light bitter almond, blasamic vinegar, molasses undertone, leading towards a yeasty wild funky, oaky winey vinous tannin, toasty maltiness, sour fruitiness, lingering roasty bitterness finish.
3.5Ebu 6, ebc 115, a very nice add to the flemich old brown style. Not so sour though and a really nice bitterness in the ending.
3.5Bottle@Home, aged a while. Very tart aroma, cherry, woody, candy. Brown, small beige head, good lace. Very tart, rusty, light fruity (red berries, sour cherries), woody, nutty. Bit thin, even light watery. Wonderful attempt, could use some sweetness and body.
3.4Bottle. Dark brown beerwith a beige head. Fruity and yeasty aroma. Dark fruits, hoppay flavour with some leather notes.
3.0The pour is a murky brown color with an off-white head. Grass, leather, and vinegar to open things up. A bit of sweet dark fruits such as raisins and plums. A hint of metal is present on the nose as well. The flavor is fairly acetic with balsamic vinegar aromas. Lots of leather, grass, and dark fruit. A touch of sweetness gives it a little balance. High carbonation adds to drying feeling on the finish.
3.3Enormous gusher... what a surprise... Dark brown bodied and a very small tan head. Pleasant deep sweet aroma, candy sugar, yeasty, dates and raisin, with a bit of earthy hop backup. Taste is a mix of fresh yeast, fermented fruit and lots of brown sugar. But it doesn’t work together, more clash. Heavy carbonation. End is sticky. Not the best Flemish Red I’ve had. (75cl bottle)
3.1Surprisingly dark, reddish-black sour dark ale - Gouden Band without the elegant oak, more body and a lot more carbonisation. More impressed by the exterior of this one than the uncentered taste, but it is drinkable. Yet to be truely impressed by Alvinne - so far every new bottle has been a confusing experience, sub par to Fantome and their hit-and-miss philosophy.
10/11/12/11/8/11
2.6Gift from SJ. There is a lot going on in this brew, but the problem is, none of it is balanced. Notes of dark fruit, cherry, wood, and a lot of sour tartness with a hint of wood. Eh. It’s ok.
3.7Bottle. Dark brown beer with a beige head. Vinous fruity aroma, grapes, apples, yeast, leather notes, sourish and sweetish. Vinous woody flavor, leather, hop notes, fruity, grapes, figs. Vinous fruity finish with spicy notes.
3.1Sour and very carbonised. An ok Oud Bruin.
Visual: Pours brown/red with a very high tan head.
Aroma: Fruity and with bready flawors.
Taste: Fruity and sour, light body and alot of carbonisation.

3.1(Bottled) Murky dark brown with a medium, mostly fading head. Bready-malty nose with a "good ol’ oud bruin" feel with cola-like sourness. The flavor makes Oud Bruin meet sweet Czech Dunkel, with sourness left in the background - until the long, cloying finish. Quite thin body with high CO2 make the mouthfeel feel watery. Not really convincing, even with the historical twist. And no, I still don’t get the point in the Oud Bruin style.
3.1Pours hazy brown with a small head. Aroma sour fruit, some belgian yeast. Sour lactic acid feel. Not well?
3.033 cl bottle (6%) @ Gastropub Tuulensuu
Aroma feels like contaminated. It is stale and sour with some lactic acid. Flavour is tart and sour with cherries and oaky notes. These flemish old browns are not my thing.
3.133 cl bottle @ Gastropub Tuulensuu, Tampere.
Pours brown color with a small head. Aroma of ripe fruits, yeast, spices and malts. Flavour of yeast, malts, grass, ripe sourish fruits and spice notes. Not as sour as I expected.

4.0Sampled @ HaandBryggeriet Beer festival 2012. Dark brown body with a small tan head. Aroma has dark malt, chocolate, dry fruit, berries, wood and vinegar. Flavor is sweet and sour, malt, acidic fruit, chocolate and wood. What an irresistible combination. Nice body and good aftertaste, love it.
3.6Near-clear dark nut-brown body. A yellow-brown lace on top. Fresh fruity sourness to the nose. Taste is has a berry-like sourness. Light caramel tones with hint of oak. Lively in the mouth. Finishes light sourish and nicely fruity-acidic. Very refreshing. [Sampled from 0.33 L bottle, garden tasting may 2012]
3.3Bottle from De Bier Tempel. Cola body with tan puffy head. Nose is sour, spicy and malty. Taste starts out spicy, malty, flattens out and then warms up. Taste of bitter in there, and grapefruit and cherry. Some notes of chocolate in the warming finish. Interesting.
