3.1 Bottle. Pours a hazy golden beer with a humongous, ginormous white, soapy head. Aroma is flowery and fruity with citric tones in it. Flavor is quite stringent bitter with a very light, fruity aftertaste. Palate is overwhelmed by way too much carbonation, making it very fizzy to drink. Pouring this beer is near to impossible, given that it forms this massive head. Overall a decent bitter, did not expect that much, didn’t got anything impressive from it either..
3.4 dense ivory white head that disappears with foam head and structured lacing. dark yellow-orange clear colour. aroma of hop resin and dry-hopping, citrus and yeast. taste is bitter, spicy with a long bitter aftertaste. quite thin body, lot of carbonation, dry mouthfeel. nice for such low abv. bottle 33 cl / best before april 2015
3.2 Bottle from Matkroken Natland, Bergen. Pours a hazy dark orange body with a massive foamy off-white head. Nose is grains, tart saison-ish yeasty tones, sweet estery banana, wet grass, fresh leaves and hints of caramel and bread dough.Taste is tart, dry yeast tones, sawdust, bread dough, bitter resin and hints of banana and earth. Dry mouthfeel, medium to high carbonation. A bit harsh on the yeast-and-hops-combination combined with the dry palate, but otherwise quite refreshing and something different in the grocery store selection here in Norway.
3.4 27.07.2013, 0,33l bottle @ home: Big creamy longlasting head. Aroma is slightly funky fruity, light malts, brett, citrus peel, grass, weeds, hay. Taste is slightly sour-ish, light malts, bark, yeast, hay, citrus peel, grass, weeds. Little bitterness, slightly dry mouthfeel. Fair enough.
3.8 Just like most Alvinne beers, this one is tasty. Nice bitter, bit with a touch of the typical Belgium yeast.
3.3 33cl bottle from Flink Gegist. Thick white head. Hazy blond pour. Nice bitterness.
3.4 Cerveza rubia con espuma blanca. Olor floral. Gran sabor amargo, cítrico y a naranja. Cuerpo medio, refrescante y gaseada.
3.8 Bottle from Real Ale, Twickenham, courtesy (as in a gift) of (from) the one and only Bish. Gushes forth from the stumpy bottle like a jetstream of horse maturation. Nice head. Hazy. Smells strongly of Belgian yeast, with that farmy arome. Very bitter. Super dry on finish. Throat slapping dryness even. Wow, that is almost tart. Pretty much a challenging Bitter. More like a very dry Belgian Ale. Nice.
3.6 Draught @ Haand Ølfestival 2013 Pours cloudy deep golden with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, citrus and grape. Taste is light sweet and medium bitter with a very bitter finish. Body is light, texture is thin, carbonation is soft.
3.7 Bottle, 75 cl. Cloudy orange with a dense, creamy white head, good retention and lace, oxer carbonated! Yeasty, citrussy aroma with farmyard notes. Taste is light sweet grainy, citric, phenollic, with notes if horse stable and a nice herbal, grassy hoppy lingering bitter finish. Quite flavorful for the ABV. More of a saison than a bitter.
3.8 Bottle@home. Huge huge foam. Hazy orange. Intense pine grass herbal notes. Spicy herbal taste from dry hopping ! Styrian Golding! Dry and complex finish. A fresh and great brew.
3.2 (bottle) pours a slightly hazy deep golden colour with a billowing off-white head. aroma of citrus fruit, white pepper, light treebark and grass, with a hint of cashews and quite a bit of grain. flavour is mostly herbal hops and straw, slightly phenolic, with a medium-bitter finish. light-bodied with lively carbonation.
3.2 Sample @ ZBF 2013 Aromas of peche, grapefruit, sweet. Hazy yellow beer with a white large head fading until it’s a little lasting head. Bitter, loads of bitter, maybe some herbs, but overruled by bitterness. Not (yet?) my cup of tea. Fizzy mouthfeel, dry taste. Sharp bitter finish but not bad. Maybe these only-bitterbeers have to grow on me.
2.2 Me gustan mucho las cervezas de Alvinne pero esta me ha decepcionado un poco. Olía como a agua estancada, el amargor era excesivo y el sabor no era nada del otro mundo. No me la volvería a pedir.
3.3 2012 vintage at home. pours orange. extremely big foam. white, big bubbles, fading rather fast . smell is not intense, bitter to high carbo ! hoppy/ sweet/ bitter/ light / medicinal . especialy gets realy medicinal in the aftertaste.
3.5 Bottle shared at cafe Frappe, Maastricht. Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma of horse blanket, damp, wet dog, light caramel and fruit. Flavour is moderate sweet, sour and bitter. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
3.1 Shared bottle at Cardinal. Slow gusher, pours itself cloudy golden with a big creamy white head. Aroma of brett, light sourish orange and yeast. Very high carbonated. Sharp resiny hops, bitter and fruity end.
2.6 330ml bottle (K Kamppi, Helsinki) Classic Alvinne - gusher! Docking a point from look for that. Because of that, of course all the yeast swirled up and made it very turbid, and basically like a muddy puddle. Head was brief, no lacing. Smells earthy and yeasty. Very yeasty in the mouth - earthy again. Some nice bitter tingle in the finish. Basically a bit dull and messy. Mostly because it’s just a big glass full of yeast. Alvinne have got to work out how to bottle condition - I thought that problem had been solved, they used to be 2nd only to De Dolle when it came to gushing, but recently I’ve not had so many, I’m not pleased start seeing them again.
3.4 Muddy golden with a large fluffy beige head. Gooseberries wood, funky, spicy yeast and malts on the nose. Sweet and bitter with funky yeasty esters. Medium body. Generously carbonated.
3.4 Grass notes, citrus notes, little bit of funkyness. Mayor carbonation. Easy drinkable nice beer
3.7 330ml bottle from Westholme Stores, Goring. A hazy amber pour with a billowing cream head; typical Belgian yeast aroma; in the mouth it’s soft and spritzy, with lots of fruit that’s both tart and sweet at the same time, and some dry carmael malts; then some light spicy bitterness, and a finish that retains the fresh tartness of the fruit. A really interesting collaboration, you can feel the Twickenham bitter fighting to get out of the Belgian brew.
0.8 Bottle bought at Ølhandleriet, drunk january 5th 2013. Cloudy orange, no head. Instead there’s small black particles floating around. Can’t be right can it? Smells of rotten fish and vinegar. That didn’t stop me from tasting it and luckily the rotten fish wasn’t much present in the taste, the smell also disappeared a bit after a while. Taste was sour, vinegar and apples. No bitterness really, funny as the beer is categorized as a bitter. It did actually have a spicy feel that reminded me of one of the things that sometimes are included in a good beer. I poured the rest of the bottle in another glass just in case my first glass was dirty, but it didn’t make any difference, it was clearly the beer. I hope this was heavily infected and not supposed to be like the one I had, or else there’s something i must be missing here. I’ll gladly taste the beer again in case I was really unlucky with my bottle, but at such a high price and with all the good availible beers in Oslo now I can’t see it happening anytime soon.
3.6 Bottled. Pours cloudy orange with foamy whitish head. Lemon, spices, tart yeast and some hay in aroma. Grassy bitterness with notes of yeast and some sweet hay mixed with wheat. Grassy and slightly tropical berriers bitterness in aftertaste. Reminds even a bit of some aged Orval.
3.3 0,33l bottle from Länsiväylä. Pours hazy golden with a very high head. Aroma is yeast, malts and alcohol. Flavor is malts, yeast and hops. Pretty decent.
3.7 Bottle. Hazy dark yellow color with a thick foamy white. Hoppy aroma and taste of citrus, flowers and yeast. Bitter finish.
3.7 Cloudy orange golden colour with a fine big foamy head that leaves a nice lacing. Mild sweet, spicy and yeasty aroma. Lovely bitter texture. Moderate sweetness. Fresh fruity and light acidic flavour. Nice! [Bottle from Varnaveien Mineralvann in Moss, Norway]
3.4 33cl bottle from Varnaveien mineralvann, Moss. Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, grassy hops, malt and some fruity and spicy notes. Quite dry with a light sourness an a nice bitterness in the finish. Bitter aftertaste with hints of citrus. Nice and refreshing.
3.5 33cl bottle, bbe 05/2014. Amber color, thick, white huge head. Yeasty, sour, grassy, earthy aroma. Quite like it. Flavor has similar things, sourness, yeast, grassy hops. Very dry, fruity and hoppy. Wow, quite a surprise, nice beer for this abv.
3.3 slightly light on the palate. otherwise a good hoppy bitter beer. Appearance was nice due to the large frothy head.
